Rupert Murdoch's takeover of the Wall Street Journal this week is drawing the ire of some Democrats running for President.

Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd called the deal "a serious threat to our democracy." John Edwards urged fellow Democrats to oppose and block the merger and refuse campaign contributions from News Corp execs.

But the Democratic frontrunner, Hillary Clinton, hasn't said a peep. Perhaps that's because Clinton has been courting the Aussie billionaire since she became a New York Senator---and vice versa. Murdoch threw a lavish fundraiser for her at the News Corp tower last year. And he and son James, the heir apparent, both wrote big checks to Clinton's presidential campaign this June. Nine News Corp executives have thus far given a total of $20,900 to Clinton this election cycle.

She calls him "smart and effective." He calls her "a good Senator" and "very, very gutsy originally on the war in Iraq."

So you see, the Journal is not Murdoch's only recent prize.

She couldn't possibly match the pillage and thievery of the Bush administration. The cost of the war in Iraq, both in funds and bodies, is frightening. It will take a genius to straighten it out. Hillary is the most qualified candidate to do that. She has the ability to hit the ground running. Go Hillary!!!!!!!! Tell “Hillary-is-Kool” (my ad lib) that if she had continued to provide leadership on the Health Care issues this year - and now offered a credible commentary regarding the WSJ purchase, her skirts would seem decidedly less stained to me. Sign me as a Democrat Progressive (Liberal). Rupert created and made wealthy the hate-filled, unreasoning likes of Bill O’Reilly, Hannity & Colmes et al and distributes (read "panders") their twisted, deceptive BS to the resentful and mindless among us who then vote Republican. Are the people at AlterNet stupid enough to beleve that there's a quid pro quo between Hillary and Murdoch, because he contributed 20 grand to her campaign? Now, when Murdoch comes up with $20,000,000 dollars in support of Hillary's campaign, I'll start to wonder. Until then, 20 thou is like 20 centavos to Murdoch, and has to be the best joke in the world to play on the nitwits that don't realize that there's not a better way to confuse your opponenets than to give a presidential campaign with which you're virtually diametrically opposed ideologically, a pittance, which seems like real money to most of us slobs, realistically expecting at least a few of us to believe it will buy influence with Hillary.
