Fox News: 'McCain's TV Commercials Contain ... Out-Right Lies'

This post, written by Steve Benen, originally appeared on The Carpetbagger Report

Once in a great while, the right surprises me.

On the July 30 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage reacted to news that Chief Justice John Roberts had suffered a seizure that day by raising the possibility that "his health was in some way tampered with by the Democrats." Savage said, "Something's wrong with this picture," after noting that Roberts' seizure occurred just three days after Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) said he would seek in general to reject any future Supreme Court nomination made by President Bush. Schumer told the American Constitution Society (ACS) in a July 27 speech: "I will recommend to my colleagues that we should not confirm any Bush nominee to the Supreme Court except in extraordinary circumstances." Schumer said that, since the confirmation of Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, the court had come to represent "what a diminishing clique of conservative ideologues wish for."

Savage asked, "Am I to believe there's no connection between Charles Schumer on Friday saying he would never appoint, or never, excuse me, approve another Bush appointment to the court, to any court? And then the chief justice suffers a so-called seizure two days later? You're telling me there's no possibility of a conspiracy by the Democrats to have caused this seizure in some manner?" He added: "Tell me it's not possible, and I'll tell you you're a liar."

Now, one could point out that Schumer did not, in fact, say that "he would never ... approve another Bush appointment to the court, to any court," and that accusations of attempted murder probably shouldn't be tossed around so casually, but what's the point?

Some folks are just not well.

Sarah Palin is a milestone, for we achieve true gender equality when an incompetent woman goes as far as an incompetent man.

Schumer should sue him for libel.

How does ANYONE take this guy seriously after this??? A man who has had a seizure before (yeah, this sorto f thing happens.. its what Chuck Close has, I believe) has another seizure. Savage decides Democrats must have done it... because.. its so unprecedented... and so convenient... as long as you believe a lie.

I'm sure he thinks there was no coverup in Pat Tillmans murder.. oh, sorry... "friendly fire death"... with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.. though they couldn't make out that he was not firing at them and was in an American uniform.. but they could sure shoot him multiple times in the head. Oh, and Alberto Gonzales has never mislead congress in the least... and Everything Bush and Cheney says is gospel truth.

A right wing nut job to the nth degree. Psycho, deranged, xenophobic, hate filled. Talk about tin foil hats. Maybe just maybe what happens in life comes back to bite you on the ass. What goes around comes around. Or maybe he just has epilepsy.Anyone who listens to the drivel coming from the likes of slime such as Savage are as morally bereft as they come.

LOL I say, in fact, encourage them to think that and warn them they could be next..... let them be afraid for a change instead of always making us afraid. What would be beautiful about it is that the fear would be self induced. What poetic justice that would be. Its time to turn the tables on them.

It's getting darker as the end of the NeoCon experiment nears. As they exit the scene, torch-bearers like Savage are getting ready to light up the midnight sky by setting fire to everything that's flammable - including libel laws and GOP voter sensibilities. Prepare for the rampant paranoia that created DHS and the color-coded terror threat scheme to morph into scorched-earth conspiracy theories while the Savages and Limbaughs build their bunkers in the political wilderness.

The Right Wing Nuts have run out of stuff. Why aren't they questioning why Roberts with held this information to begin with. It most certainly is relevant. That's why we didn't know about it. But then Republicans don't lie. They just have an ongoing problem being understood. Given Roberts' background (how smart he is and all) he knew he was epileptic. I don't think he should get a pass on this one. His health is a matter of public record. Thanks, ANNA

Is the hero of all bitter, unsuccessful guys who've had the shit beaten out of him by their fathers. So damaged that Savage's twisted logic makes perfect sense. That's because they actually ARE alike. Broken, ignorant people. Cruelty is the fuel they run on.

Bad people who shrug it off because "Hey, it's a bad world already. I'm just keeping up with traffic." The lowest humanity has to offer.

Savage's radio talk show claims to have 8 million listeners. I've seen a few of those "Savage Nation" bumper stickers on the pickup trucks around the Progressive town I live in and it never ceases to amaze me at how his supposedly educational "credentials" impresses them to believe the crap that comes out of his mouth.

When a known liar and creepy old pervert calls me names, it's an honor of sorts. I have faith that the average human will eventually see the mudslinger for what it truly is. (And the 20% of humanity that cannot see is permanently blind... evidenced by those still supportative of neocon slander and lies.)

Savage defines itself better with each name it slings. And anyone it (and its ilk) namecalls is raised up.

Please call me whatever you want, be savage.

I did it, I confess. I went after his ass with a strobe light and HA! I am the victor!

Well, since I AM confessing, I will admit that it was simply a mere flashlight--I just turned it on and off really, really fast.

But I won't hesitate to use it again, so watch out, right-wingers! I can jump out at you at anytime! Don't dare test The Induced Siezure Vigilante!

I admit it. I failed in my attempt to prevent Savage from seeing the link between my blisteringly powerful seizure ray aimed at the Chief Justice and my attempts to subvert this Republican government and make them all become liberals.

But... I ask... how did he know I was doing it? I'll have to rat out the snitch. Mike Savage... I will rat out the snitch! Next time I aim the seizure ray at Washington you won't know how it happened.

Man, these people are constantly amazing - in that they more or less function, avoid stepping off of high places, or manage to avoid disbelieving in semi trucks and then stepping out in front of one. The only people they seem to hurt is others.
