Romney Has His Macaca Moment

Posted by Guest Blogger at 5:04 AM on July 23, 2007.

Pam Spaulding: Mitt Romney gets caught holding up a sign equating Barack Obama with Osama bin Laden.

This post, written by Pam Spaulding, originally appeared on Pam's House Blend

Mitt made a big macaca moment for himself while in South Carolina.

How does he explain this endorsement of equating Obama with the terrorist responsible for 9/11? TMZ caught this coup -- Mitt's holding up the spelling challenged Palmetto State supporter's sign for crying out loud:

More here. It didn't take long for the parodies to come out, with this as inspiration:

and this.

What did his campaign say in response to the appearance of Mitt endorsing the message? Election Central:

"The governor stopped briefly for a picture with a supporter who just happened to be holding their own sign with an alliterative play on words," [Romney spokesman Kevin]Madden said, via e-mail. "I don?t think it was equating or comparing anyone."

UPDATE: Romney was confronted at a New Hampshire town hall about the Obama/Osama sign. Check out the video here.

"I don't think it was equating or comparing anyone."

I am sure republicans will feel the same when I hold a sign
"No to Hitler, Stalin and Dubya".
Which of course lacks the "funny" game of words of the original, but anyway...

Romney is too much of a darling and the only hope of the Republicans, so the media will say NOTHING about this.

After all... they were the first to throw up the cannard of "Barak Heussein Osama bin terrorist terrorist terrorist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in the first place.

Just as they won't point out his recent comparison of Clinton to Karl Marx shows that he doesn't understand either Adam Smith or Karl Marx... or at least that he and his campaign stooges (hmmm.. like the guy who made up fake badges so they could do things like.. chase off reporters, among other criminal activities) assume you don't... because even the big "free market guys" haven't even bothered to read all of Wealth of Nations to begin with.

This poster was not really original, just not as good as the original. a couple of weeks ago at a family reunion a Republican cousin of mine told this one: Chelsea Clinton was visiting Iraq and asked an Af/Am soldier what he feared most. And he replied: "Osama/Obama/yo' mama." Of course, they had to use the Af/Am stereotype to justify the language, but we know that in fact African-Americans are more likely to vote for Obama or Hillary than for any other of the candidates.

What made "macaca" such a political shot in the foot was the fact that it was a racist slur. Linkins Osama, Clinton and Obama together in a sentence is demagogic but not racist.

Jeez. What does the poster have against the Museum of Modern Art? And why does she think Chelsea owns it? You can spell "mamma" 3 ways; and this "moran" still spelled it wrong. And those parodies are hilarious!! Thanks, Pam.

or did this guy, presumably telling liberals to "get a brain" misspell the word "moron?" "Get a brain, morans?" Jeez, how typical.

Perhaps he should consider to stop alltogether.... when he sees such a sign as the Obama Osama sign, then he should, when he would have SOME braincells, right away turn away........

But then, American-style running for a high-payed post, pyaed for and by the tax-payers, means automatically being stupid, ignorant, and most certainly.... with braincells!

Jeez people... its Usama not Osama... if they're gonna play the misspelling game at least get the original spelling correct...

USAMA changed to OSAMA by Whitehouse press releases and endorsed by Fox News Corp.

Why do we let these mental midgets tell us how to think?... They can barely speak properly and have difficult times understanding the definitions of commonly used words...
like WAR!...
War is by definition between 2 nation states!...
you cant declare war on terrorism...
or on drugs or on an idea!...
its just a smoke screen that they WILL use on YOU to take away more constitutional freedoms....

Get a life people... think for yourselves before its to late and you wake up lobotomized!
