Yesterday, CNN proudly announced that it has scored the first post-jail interview with Paris Hilton. To make room for Paris on Wednesday, CNN canceled its interview with Michael Moore about his new health care documentary SiCKO:

Hotel heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton will give her first post-jail interview on CNN's "Larry King Live" on Wednesday, the show's spokeswoman said on Saturday.

"She will be on for the hour," Bridget Leininger told Reuters. "We had (filmmaker) Michael Moore originally scheduled for that time."

CNN, the "most trusted name in Paris news," continues to sink to new lows in its "assault on reason." Hilton is the latest "serial obsession," though the network recently hired a reporter devoted to "covering things like Britney, as well as the Michael Jackson memorabilia." Now CNN has ditched coverage of America's broken health care system in favor of an hour-long interview of an incarcerated socialite.

ThinkProgress spoke with Moore's team, who confirmed that CNN has not yet rescheduled the interview. SiCKO, which opens nationwide this Friday, sheds light on the health care crisis that the media covers poorly, when it covers it at all.

UPDATE: ThinkProgress has confirmed that Moore's interview with Larry King has been rescheduled for Friday.

Corporate media continue working to keep us stupid, sick and broke. See yesterday's action alert on CBS coverage of SICKO from FAIR. Only in America, among industrialized nations, is the desirability of universal health care even seriously questioned. It's like evolution.

The corporate media is in bed with the GOP, who is in bed with Big Pharma, Big Insurance. It's one big happy bed. Healthcare reform will cut down on pharamaceutical revenues and insurance profits. Think of it: no more restless leg syndrome; No more ED. Michael Moore is a headache without a medicine. Amputate!

Is it too much to hope that viewers tune out Paris in droves, and tune in Michael?

that real news (i.e. our failing healthcare system) doesn't matter to the corporate giants.

Sounds like they were just waiting for the 'opportune' excuse so that Parsons can withdraw CNN from a 'controversy' and avoid losing to Rupert Murdoch the drug/HMO ad dollars. Time-Warner may speak more softly than Fox's big sick, but it's all the same club. They are both shielding their class, regardless of race or national origin. After all, with mass produced monster homes, Mercedes Benz cars, Louis Vuitton bags, Caribbean cruises, and xtra-immaculate olive oil, in the future the one mark of distinction left to the blingberg crowd will be good health and radiant skin.

At least CNN has rescheduled Mike,

but what is Larry King gonna talk about with Daddy's Little Hooker? I don't think this Hilton critter can speak in complete sentences or even knows what one is. An hour of "likes" and "you knows" instead of Mike and his expose of our horrendous health care system! This country is in deep, deep trouble.

Dan Rather is right: Our news has been so "dumbed down" and "tarted up" that it's not worth watching anymore. And it's not just CBS, it's all of them, even PBS (which has had to hire a Bush toady to run its operations or be shut down).

Did CNN really pay Miss BIMBOBUCKS a cool $1,000,000? She probably wipes her boney butt with $100 bills. (Think of how all that money could have been put to use elsewhere?)

Larry must be really proud. Maybe he can interview the $54 million pants guy next. What a waste of air time.

That's one more reason to hate CNN. Their "most trusted name in news" is becoming the equivalent of Fox's "Fair and balanced". What a sick joke.

On MSNBC this morning Mika REFUSED to lead off with the Paris Hilton story. She went to so far as to shred it on camera. She said she wanted to report the (real) news! See MSNBC website for the video.

BRAVO, MIKA!
