That's according to Mary Ann Aker's Washington Post blog. I submit it without further comment ...

Looks like he's reached his boiling point.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.
Kucinich has made ending the war in Iraq the central theme of his campaign. He has even taken aim at the leading Democratic presidential candidates in the field for their votes on authorizing the war.
Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach the president, vice president and "all civil Officers of the United States" for "treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."
Sources tell the Sleuth that in light of the mass killings at Virginia Tech Monday, Kucinich's impeachment plans have been put on hold. There will be no action this week, they say.
Kucinich's office had no comment on the Congressman's "Dear Colleague" letter -- which apparently was drafted over the weekend, before the school massacre -- or on what the focus of articles of impeachment against Cheney would be.
But Kucinich shouldn't hold his breath on getting anywhere with his impeachment plan. "We'll see a Kucinich Administration before we'll see a Cheney impeachment," quipped one Democratic aide [Editor's note: is there a more vile creature in existence than these un-named "Democratic aides" who make "quips" like this to the WaPo?].
Here is the text of his letter, a copy of which was forwarded to the Sleuth:

April 17, 2007

Dear Colleague:

This week I intend to introduce Articles of Impeachment with respect to the conduct of Vice President Cheney. Please have your staff contact my office . . . if you would like to receive a confidential copy of the document prior to its introduction in the House.

Sincerely,

/s/

Dennis J. Kucinich

Member of Congress

If we're going to impeach 'em, do Cheney first.

And maybe send him to Gitmo.

I still think he's a funny-looking, slightly strange guy, who has not so much as a chance on earth of being elected to anything outside his home district, but I like him a whole lot more after reading this.

Dennis Kucinich is my hero. He knows he can't get Cheney impeached, but Cheney's despicable behavior over the last years needs to be exposed. Can't wait to read the artricles of impeachment.

Kucinich is on a plateau so far above every other Democratic candidate that it's ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, he is THE MAN - the only one with the courage and lack of political kowtowing to the MSM to be worth a damn. I love a candidate who is not beholden to opinion polls, and not offending anyone.

Ironically, his stance on many issues is probably closer to what many of us feel than any of the milquetoast politicans he competes against.

Why this man cannot get more attention is beyond me. You'd think just on the basis of shock value alone, he'd be all over the news coverage. Perhaps he's just too truthful.

I think that Kucinich is sincere in this attempt but I also think it's a very smart political move. He knows that he won't get the backing of the Democratic Party leaders and also that he can't succeed as an independent candidate. His only real chance is to overcome the party leadership. How better to show them up as a minor branch of the Republican Party than to go against them and win without their support. Hooray for Dennis! If he gets in we may have a chance for real campaign finance reform.

I Support Kucinich, however, Bush's ONGOING 9/11 COVER UP SHOULD BE ON THE IMPEACHEMENT TABLE.

Anyone who's followed the plight of the 9/11 widows, known as "The Jersey Girls," and their epic battle with Bush to get a 9/11 investigation . . . should have been talking about impeachment of Bush long ago. A recent documentary available called "9/11 Press for Truth" details this shameful episode in American history.

From Bush's initial fight to prevent a 9/11 commission to his and Cheney's refusal of public questioning, or even of going under oath . . . or even allowing a transcript . . . to the Bush Admin's insistence that Bush/Rice confidant Philip Zelikow head the 9/11 Commission over the vocal protests of 9/11 family members . . . his behaviour has been impeachable.

One simple question would bring this Administration down regarding 9/11. Why weren't the "WAR GAMES" called off on 9/11/2001, after the first plane hit the first tower?"

Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Robert Bowman said on C-SPAN, that the acts of this administration on 9/11/2001 were TREASON.

Why? Because standard operating procedure was stood down regarding air craft intercept procedures. The administration claims it was the confusion of the war games that was the problem. Who ordered the war games. Evidence points to Cheney.

Why did Cheney sit there for an hour and a half while four hijacked airliners flew over the most protected air space in the world, crashing into building after building after building . . . and not call off the war games?

Transportation Secretary, on 9/11, Norm Minetta testified that a young aid repeatedly entered the White House bunker telling Cheney, "Sir the aircraft is 50 miles out . . . sir, it is 30 miles out . . . sir, it is 15 miles out, DO THE ORDERS STILL STAND?"

Cheney shouts back to him, "OF COURSE THE ORDERS STILL STAND, HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING DIFFERENT?"

Bush/Rice confidant Zelikow, who was put in charge of the 9/11 investigation over the protests of 9/11 family members, at the insistence of the Bush Admin . . . mysteriously left this crucial testimony out of the 9/11 Omission, oh I'm sorry, I meant Commission report.

To read Lt. Colonel Bowman's concerns regarding treason by the Bush Admin on 9/11, and other high level military and intelligence experts now demanding a new 9/11 investigation, go to PatriotsQuestion911.org.

If you are new to the whole issue of the 9/11 cover up, google "9/11 Mysteries" to see a brilliant free online documentary.

So, YES, support impeachment. But, DO NOT IGNORE THIS ADMINISTRATIONS TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR ON 9/11/2001, when drafting articles of impeachment.

I find it both strange and strangely amusing that the balance of the folks posting here should hold up that really strange little man Kucinich as some sort of leader of the left wing anti-war movement. You can look at the man when he speaks and you can just tell that this man has some serious issues that need resolving. Then again the majority of his constituency lives in the mistake by the lake known as Cleveland so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that he gets re-elected. One would expect the inmates at the insane asylum to vote one of their own. As far as the impeachment of Dick Cheney is concerned.....VP Cheney is much too smart for you liberals so you might as well save yourselves a lot of heartache and heartburn and leave the man alone. He only has a little under two years left to serve. Be patient.....only two years till the next Republican administration takes over and then you can all start talking about impeachment anew.

Unfortunate some folks cannot recognize courage when they see it. Dennis' stepping up and speaking against the current power structure is the most politically courageous thing being done. America is completely ill at ease with itself right now because those in power do not represent mainstream belief and opinion, though they are largely portrayed by the MSM as doing so. This huge cultural disconnect can only be resolved when those current occupiers of the halls of power are removed. Of course that won't resolve it, in and of itself, but it will open the possibility. Just as America wasn't so stupid as to actually elect George Bush (though he and his supporters managed to pull off the deception), America may also not be wise enough to elect Dennis Kucinich.

We're going through an interesting chapter in our history, and once again it could easily be the last chapter. What a nation of stress-junkies.

Not only is filing articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney the right thing to do, it’s a smart move for Kucinich to attract Media attention. Our Establisment controlled Media ignores and shuns Kucinich like the plague. He is a threat to the control of an utterly corrupt political system by Plutocratic vassals.

Neither of our political parties truly represent the people. They are pimps and whores for the millionaires and billionaires who own the Military Industrial Complex. Fifty percent of all taxes paid by Americans goes to the Military Industrial Complex. That’s the crux of our political system.

Any impeachment against this administration would secure the historical record of their abuses, lies, and atrocities--which, while evident to almost everyone, does not guarantee that the historical record will reflect these transgressions, since McGraw Hill and Houghton Mifflin have close Bush family ties and produce 80% of the testing material for NCLB. Perhaps we should IMPEACH BUSH first, and force Cheney out into the open light of presidential scrutiny and THEN IMPEACH CHENEY! That way, we can avoid any presidential pardons!

High Crimes against the Constitution
High Crimes against the Geneva Convention
High War Crimes resulting in the deaths of innocents. Blatantly lying to our Nation to start a war: a violation of international law, and the deaths of 200,000 innocent Iraqi citizens is wholesale crimes against humanity.

AFTER conviction, Cheney should be hanged on the Whitehouse lawn to show the world and all history that America really does stand for freedom, justice and democracy.

As a presidential candidate from "the other side of the aisle" (I love that construction; it's so civilized), I reluctantly agree with Mr. Kucinich's great stride for mankind in initiating the impeachment process. My reason?: President Bush is making it extremely difficult for any Republican to win the presidency in 2008.

AlterNet, BuzzFlash, Democracy Now, The Nation, In These Times, Mother Jones, Common Dreams, AntiWar.com, MoveOn.org, TomPaine.com, TomDispatch.com, The Progressive Daily Beacon, and any other organization that claims to stand for progressive values. All of you need to get organized and get behind Dennis Kucinich for 2008. If you really want to see a different America then get with it. Clinton, Edwards, Obama will only give us more business as usual. Kucinich is the only candidate that has been against the war in Iraq since before it started. He has consistently voted against funding the war with every appropriations bill that has been passed. He has been screaming about depleted uranium, and has exposed every Bush lie that has been thrown at us since Bush was first appointed president. He is also opening a new investigation into 9-11 to investigate with subpoena power what previous investigative committees left untouched. And he is not beholden to corporate influences. A Kucinich victory in 2008 is a victory for the American people, not some abstract corporate power structure. The Corporatocracy can be defeated. Kucinich can win. But not without your organized support. Stop sitting on your asses in the name of neutrality. Neutrality is no longer acceptable. There is too much at stake. Put your organizations on the line and come together in support of a Kucinich victory in 2008. Make it happen. Do it. Now.

On the war, health care and everything else, Dennis is the only hope of the nation. He makes Hilary look like a mole for the Republicans and Obama look like middle mush. USA...if change is what is needed, for a moral responsible leadership, get your media to deal fairly with him, or the moment is lost. Every responsible person of conscience must demand of the media to give this man exposure, because it's the media that elects officials. What could be more obvious? It's the media that gave credibility to Bush and Cheney's lies...and the world got a war. (See Bill Moyers' "Buying a War.") Harass the brodcasters.
