"Even though I honestly had not planned on doing this," says Gore in the first video to the right, "My fellow Americans..." as the music swells...

But more importantly, Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth won best doc at the Oscars last night (second vid). Not only does this mark the first time a former Vice President has won an Academy Award, but it's probably the first glorified PowerPoint presentation to claim an Oscar.

The WaPo's William Booth writes:

Incredible as it may seem, Al Gore is not only totally carbon neutral, but geek-chic cool. No velvet rope can stop him. He rolls with Diddy. He is on first-name basis, for real, with Ludacris. But what does this mean? And how did it happen? Did Gore change? Or did the climate -- political, cultural, natural -- change around him?

Digg!

Gore's 'wooden' appearance and performances of the past

years have gone away. Its weird that, when he was in a position to possible win or actually do something, he came across as 'stiff' and 'wooden'. Now he is relaxed and more personable. Despite the hypocrisy of gained fame and fortune due to tabacco and flying on private jets all of the world to discuss 'green' issues- he should try to get the nomination. Billary is too polarising and corporatised and she has Bill as an albatross around her neck (various affairs and will always want the limelight.) People are also sick of the Bush-Clinton dynastic order. Barack Hussein Obama is too inexperienced and, you got the 'black' thing that might be a stumbling block to some voters (of course everyone says its a non-issue in polls but once it comes to secret voting you'll see it matters.)

All the nay sayers and cynical lambasting seems to slide off of him lately, doesn't it? I watched him on the Oscars. I felt something I haven't in years. I actually liked him. The last time I liked a candidate was Bill Clinton. I enjoyed the humor and strength he showed. Im so tired of watching the weasels in the White House shuck and jive, that it was almost a shock to listen to Al, the "Amazing Starched Man" of previous years, flow and ebb with ease. If he runs, he will win. I hope he does, for our sakes.
I really do.

...it was only a tease, but then again, what tease hasn't always had even a smidgen of a promise in it?

I loved the bit, but Gore is NOT an actor!

Which is good!

Gore uses Apple's Keynote Presentation tool on the Macintosh in the video - not PowerPoint
Good Video!

each other for the next two years and then he can step in at the last minute. I don't think he would need the kind of money anyone else would. Besides, the money they spend attacking each other is what will provide him an openning. He's already won that election once. After the idiot chimp and company, I don't think the republicans will be looked upon as favorably as the pundits predict!
