Ari Berman notes that "from the perch of his chairmanship of the Defense Subcommittee on the House Appropriations Committee," Jack Murtha will attempt to close Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, stop the escalation, and severely limit Bush's ability to bypass congress, the Constitution, and American tradition.

It's all about the money. Berman continues: "he believes that only money, not words, will get the President's attention."

Not to put too fine a point on it, but words were never his strong suit anyway.

Murtha sketches a plan, supported by Pelosi, whereby the president will have to justify, line by line, his expenditures, or he doesn't get his allowance. Act like a kid, get managed like one...
