I used to really respect this site, and it is one of the few i subscribe to, but it feels like this place is rapidly becoming a joke.

this story is garbage. I am no fan of gibson, but this story reeks of smear. why would a serious website post this stuff? it just reduces the whole site...

did anyone notice the walmart campaign to the left of the screen? the offensive video game is not mentioned by name, nor is the manufacture of the game. why would anyone sign their name to that petition without knowing any of the facts? very wierd and not very legitimate.

can anyone tell me more about how this site works, i'm starting to become concerned and feel like i might be wasting my time here?

i agree this is a nothing story, and that was my point of posting: what is this nothing story doing here?

then comes the bs back and forth about gibson (who i could care less about). he is an anti-semite, he isn't... well, all i can say is vino veritas (saying you didn't mean what you said when drunk is crap)...

Hell, at least The Nation hasn't gone uber-multimedia junkie...they stick to the print and the blog and get it done, no-nonsense.

I konw Alternet can do better than this. I know because I've seen some truly remarkable articles over the years and made some donations here and there.

I know that, even in the most fruitful of times, you folks don't make massive profits, so instead of distracting your viewers with random flashy footage of this and that, hammer the issues. If I want entertainment, I'll browse YouTube or step outside and play some good hacky sack. Good-natured Soldiers gotta have fun, too!

...because like George Bush, Mel thinks he is Jesus Christ. Both are meglomaniacal and messianic, like the entire radical extremist religious evangelical fundamentalist jihadists of the white southern Baptists and the Pope and his Catholics, but most assuredly not this Catholic. These people know no SHAME nor do they posses any HUMILITY as all of them are quite simply guilty of the cardinal sin of PRIDE. I say the Pope and his minions should be sent to Iraq to live for a month and let them walk among the Iraqi people and live with their families as well as the families of our dead troops so he(the Pope) can have a close up face full of just what he, the Pope, has wrought. Living in his ivory tower allows the Pope to be fully disconnected from what he and his Republican party in America have done to the world. Falwell, Robertson and the entire Republican party should go alng with their Pope because they are all directly complicit in all the death, maiming and misery they have caused and will continue to cause because they all think they are the party of God, but it is their god(small g) certainly not the true God of love who created all of us, his children. While at the same time giving us all Free Will which some have chosen to use for the destruction of others.

PRAY FOR PEACE for all of the Innocents, the victims of this latest 'Crusade and Holocaust'.
Pray for some Humility to make it's way into the hearts of those evil doers who have perpetrated these horrors upon everyone else.

Raging antisemitism isn't keeping Americans from going to the movies? I dont get it. This drunk dudes comments should stop people from going to see an valuable movie to many people especially Native Americans and Latinos?

I didnt see a single antisemitic comment or image in the film and its of value to me and my culture and I find it offensive that Alternet would imply that I have no problem with antisemitism because I went to see it.
