After the mountains of bad press (including its own Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo), after a dozen Fox affiliates just flat-out refused to run the OJ interview, and after book sales weren't as impressive as expected, NewsCorp cancelled its OJ multimedia murder-porn carnival (first vid is Fox's promo... er, coverage of its own interview from last week and second is my local public access star doing on-the-street interviews with Brooklynites re: OJ, did it or didn't...).

According to the AP:

The industry trade publication Broadcasting & Cable editorialized against the show Monday, saying "Fox should cancel this evil sweeps stunt."

The book was to be published by HarperCollins imprint ReganBooks, the interview aired on Fox, both under the NewsCorp umbrella. Supercalifragilistic publisher Judith Regan sought to publish the book, which she considered OJ's confession, as an homage to abused women everywhere.

In a lengthy preemptive strike, Regan explained her decision, noting that she'd once been fooled by a brilliant, talented, and very nice-looking man: "I made the decision to publish this book, and to sit face to face with the killer, because I wanted him, and the men who broke my heart and your hearts, to tell the truth, to confess their sins, to do penance and to amend their lives."

One would think that even the thought of making money from that venture would sicken the heart of an abused woman. One would think that it wouldn't require a Dear Judith Regan letter to do the trick.

One would be wrong.

Two whiteys die at the hands of a black celebrity and there's a 'national outcry'? Led by Fox dissidents?

America's 2008 choice is clear: Elect Obama president and he won't be allowed to kill anyone.

OJ's story is a sign of the times.

Here is a guy who, as soon as fame (and soon fortune) was is in the cards, distanced himself from the black community to the point of it being obvious.

When he gets his butt in a sling he immediately becomes a vicitim of his race. When even the highly inept LA DAs start the case, he fires his white lawyers and turns to L.A.'s most famous ambulance chaser and race baiter- Johnny Cochran.

Even though he did it, he didn't and has been searching for the 'real killers' on the golf courses of Florida for a very long time now. Now he wants to tell the story of how he did it, even though he claimed to be innocent. Fox, News Corp and OJ are a good fit- both good at misrepresentation, diversionary argument, selective memory and cheesy in taste. A match made in heaven.

The TV affiliates and booksellers must have really had a fit behind the scenes, because this is a company that never fails to take the low road in taste, style or truth in it's search for ratings and profits.

This is the very kind of sh*t that Murdoch has made his fortune with. I'm amazed that the king of sleaze and Faux Newz pulled the plug. Maybe someone threatened to out him on the emergency US Citizenship he bought from Newt Gingrich (the NeoCons thought we forgot about that, right?).

Just my take, but I'm pretty sure I have it right.

That host The Resident is as air headed as many of the idiots she interviews. Despite an OVERWHELMING amount of evidence (let's not even count the over-sufficiently damning DNA evidence!), he was acquitted by twelve morons who now ALL say that they guess he's guilty.

It was the final nail in the coffin of what was American Justice.

And now these idiots are all glib and giddy with this new abhorration disguised as Infotainment. No justice. No respect. Racial card? Reverse the ethnicity of the participants and imagine how a similar result would pan out! This is news? The 'hostess' can't even get the various details correct.

After the verdict, many said that OJ was a true sociopath, and would eventually brag about his crime or kill again. Here he is, desperate for a glimmer of his former spotlight, bragging about it. It's NOT a confession, he's bragging.

And leave it to FOX to eventually chase after that. They are the very epitome of what both sides complain about in regards to 'The Media'. FOX is constant vacillating between the extreme right wing of News (un-impartial Neo-Con values, corporate arrogance, etc.) and the extreme left wing of Entertainment (pushing the envelope, vulgarities of all types, etc.) Guess which one this story is.

Even after FOX retracted their program under public outcry, one has to notice that ALL of the other networks spent days talking about FOX.

I guess there's no such thing as bad publicity.......

OJ SIMPSON

Am not surprised about the book OJ was to have published. Everyone should know by now that OJ is just a nutcase and not a very bright one at that. Otherwise, why would he have been crazy and stupid enough to marry that blond bimbo drug addict? I read OJ had given the Brown family daughters money to go to college, and the girls spent all the money on breast enlargement operations. I also read that the murder was in all probablity drug related and that the young man killed with OJ's wife had a history of selling drugs, and that his father who is/was so distraught by his death, had not seen or bothered to speak to him for eight or more years. Who knows?

..... I am appalled that this whole thing got this far along before anyone cried out about it. We are a sick nation for even putting up with this stuff. I said that when he was supported by all those old friends of his. There was a witness who saw him at the intersection of the crime scene at about the same time as the murder occurred and she was not called because she sold her story to the National Inquirer.

I couldn't believe they wouldn't put her on the stand. This whole deal smells to high heaven. I hope his book sales drop like rocks in a large pit.

The jury was made up of morons, one poster says, though they felt there was a reasonable doubt. No one posting on this board served on the jury and there was never an outcry about the EDTA found in the sampled blood. Well, I guess white folks stick together after all. That is why I am nonpartisan.

Why do people always assume it is about race. It isn't about race it is about a miscarriage of justice. It is about MONEY not race! Realize that whenever someone with money does a crime they don't go to prison. Check out Cheney. He shoots someone in the face and doesn't even get a slap on the hand. So please, people, NOT about race!

Where Did OJ's Career Go?

A basketball player rapes a girl and he still plays basketball and makes commercials.

A police man admits to using the N-word at the OJ simpson trial (or caught lieing) and he loses his job and gets a job with Fox News as a consultant.

Olliver North admits to congress that he was supplying contras with aid in Central America, loses his military career and gets a job on Fox News along with some other cable channels.

OJ is acquitted in the double murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown but gets a judgement for the civil suit. Still he is innocent and a free man. What happened to his career and why do people boycott his every move?

OJ has someone write a book for him and he gets pounced on by everyone and many call him all types of name except maybe the n-word, yet nothing happens to all those other people when we hear them talk or play ball.

Give him a break.
