Think Progress notes that the AP got ahold of Jack Abramoff's last email before heading off to prison.

In his final missive to friends and family, the disgraced Republican super-lobbyist stressed that it's okay if nobody comes to visit him:

In any event, please know that I certainly understand that visiting me would be a tremendous hardship and I would in no way be offended if people chose to wait until my release before getting together.

he just thought his rich buddies would take care of him. Most (not all there are a few good ones) are corrupt as hell and we need more stings ala ABSCAM and the like to drive them out. I think, with the increased amount/ease/cost, of video/online/recording that citizens should try their own tricks to get these corrupt politicians. It wouldn't take much to document, the problem is gaining the access cause you need much money to even talk to our 'representatives'.
We need more folks like Pressler. To Wit (from Wikipedia) about ABSCAM:
Senator Larry Pressler (R-S.D.) refused to take the bribe, saying at the time, "Wait a minute, what you are suggesting may be illegal." He immediately reported the incident to the FBI. When Senator Pressler was told Walter Cronkite referred to him on the evening news as a "hero" he stated, "I do not consider myself a hero ... what have we come to if turning down a bribe is 'heroic'?"

Look Jack, you do the crime in some cases you do the time. First, I don't know how you could have made such a mess of it that you ended up in prison. Second, treasure the fact that you're not in a conventional state prison running around like a rat in a maze hopelessy trying to keep some schizophrenic murdering thug from claimin' you for his own! I forgive you Jack and it will be difficult where you are anyway. Please, while you are there do some soul-searching and come up with some ways you can make it up to the American people and your other victims. May the time and the ordeal pass quickly for you. Peace.
