I have some radio gigs this weekend, and I will certainly not be discussing America's Second Civil War (yes, history will record that the dueling Democratic strategists of North and South exchanged blistering fusillades of inside-baseball books in a withering battle of intellectual attrition).

I'll just stick to the minor stuff, like the occupation of Iraq.

On Saturday I'll be discussing that, Rummy and whatever else Chuck Mertz wants to chat about on This is Hell. If you're in Chicago, catch it on 89.3 fm at 12:10 central time (1:10 EST). Others can stream it here.

On Sunday, I'll also be talking about Iraq, this time with the legendary Blase Bonpane -- I used to listen to him religiously when I lived in L.A. -- on World Focus. In SoCal, catch it at 10 am Pacific time on KPFK: 90.7 fm in Los Angeles and 98.7 fm in Santa Barbara. Or stream it here.

Also on Sunday (for North Americans), I'll do my regular weekly gig on Breakfast with Peter Godfrey down in Adelaide Australia (don't ask me how that came about). If you're in Adelaide -- and I'm sure many readers are -- you can catch it Monday morning at 7:15 am on 101.5 fm. If you're in the states you can stream it here at 3:45 pm EST on Sunday. I'll speak, as always, with our own regular commenter, the insightful and enchanting Heroesall. Take that, Rupert Murdoch!

If you don't know all the time zones of the known universe, and I confess I don't, a very handy resource is the World Clock.

The world clock, bless its little cotton clock socks, not only shows you 'when now is' anywhere in the world, but also offers extra services for those like me, now revealed to the world (and the World Clock) as a radio non-personality.

We use the Fixed Future, Past, or Present Time feature, because we need to know what time it will be in various places in the future, in order to ensure that we ring our overseas experts (back at ya, Josh) at the right time and not at 3 am. Cranky, just-woken-up experts tend to require a lot of bleeping.

And of course just about everyone is overseas for us, because I live Downunder. Not just in Australia, but in Adelaide, which Joshua gracefully hints is a hotbed of progressive thought rather than the wine-drenched home of crazy serial killers that it really is.

It's damn good wine, though.

Just in case anyone cares, Murdoch started his career of infamy down here in Adelaide, with the running of the now-defunct The News (inspired naming, but that wasn't his fault) which he inherited from his father.

So you might want to blame us for setting him loose on the world, instead of decently confining him to a leafy full-service 'rest home' for rich loonies as we should have done.

PLEASE DISCUSS MS PELOSI ON YOUR RADIO TOUR.

IF SHE IS DELIBERATELY MISINTERPRETING THE MANDATE HANDED TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.....THEN WHERE IS THE HOPE?

In the 72 hours since she has taken the mantle of the next Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi repeated her pledge that “impeachment is off the table.” In her victory press conference, she didn’t speak of the need to repeal the Military Commissions Act of 2006 that revoked habeas corpus and legalized torture. She didn’t decry the unending death and destruction that is daily terrorizing the people of Iraq. She did not pledge to stand firmly against the new war being prepared against Iran. Nor did she make a peep about defending women’s right to abortion and gay rights – even as Roe V. Wade is under increasing threat and gay marriage bans passed in an additional seven states.

Instead, she recast this election as a mandate on manners and effectiveness: "The American people spoke out for a return to civility to the Capitol in Washington and how Congress conducts its work…And Democrats pledge civility and bipartisanship in the conduct of the work here, and we pledge partnerships with the Republicans in Congress and the president, not partisanship."
