What about Lieberman

Subtitle: Remember Jeffords?

What if Lieberman aligns with Republicans? As it is, the 51 number includes him as a Democrat. Jim Jeffords switched in 2001, giving control of the Senate to the Democrats. Couldn't Lieberman do the same?

CNN:

As the canvassing continues in Virginia, Sen. George Allen, R-Virginia, is sequestered in his home, "shell shocked," and going through "a nightmare," during this period of limbo, a senior Allen staffer tells CNN.

Keep the heat on Republican tactics in Virginia

Evan noted yesterday that the possibility of Republican dirty tricks being scrutinized could push Allen towards concession. (It also sounds like a recount in Virginia is unlikely to make a difference, as evidenced by the fact that the recount of the recent attorney general's election produced a change of only 40 votes.) Still, if reports of callers threatening likely Democratic voters with prosecution are true, sending Mr. Allen home is not enough.

I would be the last person to wish anyone ill, even a Republican, but it has just been announced that just re-elected Sen. C. Thomas (R-WY) has acute myeloid leukemia. While this is a treatable form of cancer and the 73 year old Thomas is otherwise healthy, the 5-year survival rate for patients over 65 is ~3%.

So what are the chances he will serve his whole term? Wyoming has a Dem. governor (Freudenthal) who would likely appoint a Dem. successor. Any thoughts?

Peace,
David

The sad thing is

that the Dems are only the lesser of the two evils. Progressives still have a long long fight ahead. Very very sad. "Civilizatiion" is merely in its infancy, nowhere near out of the caves yet. Maybe in another six millennia, if we last.
