In a little publicized phenomenon, a considerable number of U.S. cities and towns will be voting on non binding referendums calling for an immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. Cities in Illinois voting on the question include Chicago, Springfield and Urbana, as well as half a dozen towns. In Wisconsin, 10 towns are voting on November 7th, while 24 of 32 towns voting this past April have already asked for immediate troop withdrawal.

But that is nothing compared to Massachusetts, where 139 communities are voting on the question."We're just hoping people will look into their hearts and say, 'What is going on here?'" said Paul Shannon of the American Friends Service Committee, the Quaker peace group that helped organize the Massachusetts signature drive. "Are we really willing to throw away more lives tomorrow? For what?"

You would be better off reading a book than voting against the war in Iraq. Do you honestly believe that the vote can change what is necessary to float the country economically? We need those wars and the economy will fold without them. No vote will stop the movers and shakers that pull the strings in this country. The vote never has. It is meaningless. Just another set of scoundrels to make mischief. Voting on a complete withdrawal from Iraq! You have to be kidding. No way! Iran is next and after that the world to dominate. These are mega warriors in control now and we are helpless.
