1) human nature.
2) the media likes to exploit the base elements of people and with it our base fears, lust, greed, and avarice.
3) its easier to scare people and tell tales of crimes, hate, abuse, and sexually deviance then it is to promote stories of hope, pride, solidarity, or justice.
4) the latter doesn't 'sell' news. "bleeds it leads"-better off for ratings if its a 'puerto rican' 'black' or 'skin head' doing the crime.
5) the controlling element of the media seek to divide people, rather than appeal and help join them, and they seek to use their influence to divide people based on race, class, sex, religion, etc because its easier for them to control a populace divided.

If the media reported on the positive networking stuff, they would actually be supporting it as more people would be drawn to the activities they read about. Plus it would make the media positive and up lifting to read. I certianly enjoy the positive stories, near and far.

The last thing the media owners want to do is actually help us get positively networked with each other, it is entirely contrary to their financial interests. They buy the papers to control their interests, not for profit. For example, I am really disapointed with my local paperowner that our third party candidates are not being covered, AT ALL!

I thought that was going to be THE BIG STORY of this election, third parties making headway. The fact that they refuse to cover them speaks volumes. I guess they already picked the winners, they sure don't want to inform the public about any of the other choices.

With everything going on in the world... do we really think that god takes the time to hate fags (and I guess lesbians)?

It's kinda like when christians thank god for whatever small thing happened for them. "I prayed and god heard me" Oh really?

And anyway... god hates shrimp more.

Once again, the media focuses on things that don't really matter. If you really want to discuss hate crimes, how about the ones our own gov does to us on a daily basis. War on drugs, war on terror, no-knock raids, etc. These are the true hate crimes. What the media and cry-babies claim hate crimes to be are nothing more than people expressing their First Amendment rights. Like it or not, everyone is free to have an opinion about race, religion, sexual preference, etc. If someone causes physical harm to someone, then you've got a hate crime.
