So here's the tally in Republicanland. Two adult men or women who love each other and want to devote their lives to each other: sick.

A 54-year-old man sending messages with sexual overtones to a 16-year-old staffer, on the other hand... 'simply naughty emails.'

Bush spokesman, Tony Snow, via John Aravosis on the messages from (former) Chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, Mark Foley: "I hate to tell but it's not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill and there have been other scandals as you know that have been more than simply naughty emails."

Yes, we know. Tom DeLay, Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, etc, ad nauseam, e pluribus unum. This smacks of Limbaugh's Boys will be boys comments in regard to Abu Ghraib.

Tell you what I can't wait to see: all the noise coming from the right wing Christian powerhouses like Dobson, Ted Haggard, Pat Robertson, and the rest of the fraternity. Echo echo echo....

Aravosis doesn't buy the White House's "naughty emails" excuse either: "That's why the GOP House leadership is scrambling. That's why they had to call in the FBI. That's why the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating."

Best Foley headline comes from Rolling Stone: "Rep. Foley Turns a Page"

Rightwing blogger Hugh Hewitt, noting that Florida law requires Foley's name to remain on the ballot, suggests another Bush as Foley's replacement to be the recipient of those votes. Or perhaps Dan Marino or Shaq.

I think that about speaks to the Republican bullpen: Predator revealed? Get a dynasty or jock. In other news, the world is still laughing at us. (Americablog)
