Senator Mark Pryor, supposed Democrat from Arkansas, is a DINO. A Democrat in name only. He might as well change parties.

It is a sad day in Amerika. Totalitarianism is just around the corner. Who will be the first ordinary citizen to be wisked away for being in opposition to the bufoon in the White House? Who will be the first politician? This scares the shit out of me. It may be time to immigrate myself to another free country.

Both parties are rotten and evil and need to be extinguished.

Above all give up that stupid jackass American innocence, embodied in HOPE. Hope is a cancer among us "liberals" especially - it keeps us playing the game. But the game's over, the party's over, and you've been had.

Vote for 'none of the above', and connive in revolution as fitting to your M.O., your character. And have fun. Otherwise none of it's worth it.

About Bill Nelson

Have you ever seen this guy? He looks cadaverous, kind of like Lurch from the Addams family. And that's in his political TV ads where he probably got makeup! Not surprising he voted for torture. He looks like he might enjoy a little whipping himself on occasion.

And we are talking Florida where Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris reign, supported by every retired Republican in the country. "Liberal" politicians don't exist in Florida. There are some Democratic politicians, but they oftentimes are somewhat to the right of Tom DeLay. Both major Democratic challengers for the up-and-coming Governor's seat, for example, were strong Death Penalty advocates.

Every day in every way, America becomes less worthy of allegiance. The "Home of the Brave" has become the home of the knave. We look toward elections with some hope for change but our petrifying fears prevent any corrective action. Apparently what little guts we still have are being spilled on the highways and byways of Iraq. What a waste!

Thanks Evan, this is brilliant! I think it's important to highlight who voted and how - the list of shame indeed! Not as bad as in the House where 34 Dems voted for this piece of trash. But what were any of them thinking? Ah, yes, that would be the problem right there I suppose.

It's going to be a sad day, but it will come, when we will wake up and collectively ask "how did this happen?".

This is just one among many steps toward the destruction of our nation and our way of life.

Time to Move out of USA ? ? I was lucky...

Considering moving out of the country? I was lucky... Two weeks after I moved to Spain, 9-11 happened. Over the following five years I eventually got married, residency, etc., and have been watching this gradual demise of America, which is truly shocking - and often feel shame, embarrassment, and get that, "Good God - What is happening to my country'" feeling. The USA is much less "my" country now, than before, but feel better that way because of the truly illegal, immoral, criminal policies of Bush and those who so mistakenly follow him. There are hints of hope, but not nearly enough as should be seen.

I would suggest that if at all possible, definitely consider the option, and start immediately when the situation looks right and ready to move. It's better in Spain and most other European countries. I'm 50 now and was a very lucky person.

Still supporting the Dems?

11 Senators. Now I know why they didn't filibuster.

And 34 representatives.

Always enough. Always just enough. And sometimes a lot more than enough.

So you STILL think it'll help to vote for the Dems this November? Voting machines aside, there is no reason to believe that. They have a solid record of support for Bush's worst actions, including, now endorsing torture and removing Habeas Corpus. You don't really think that's for Arabs, do you?

IT'S FOR YOU. And the Dems let it through. It's called COLLUSION. They're in on the game.

You do have alternatives, at least in states where the Greens are active. Vote for them. If you ALL vote for them, they might have a chance. Don't waste your vote: vote Green.

And yes, we need all the help we can get. We need YOUR help.

Sherrod Brown

I wish you had listed the names of the Democrats in the House as well as the Senate who voted in favor of the Bill. I was very surprised to find that Rep. Sherrod Brown was one of those Representatives. He has been touted as a true Progressive. Indeed Gov. Howard Dean recently profiled him as such and awarded him $5,000 towards his current campaign after readers of his newsletter voted for Rep Brown as the most deserving of a campaign contribution…over such lifelong and staunch Progressives as Rep Bernie Sanders.

If this were any other Bill, one could forgive a candidate for being pragmatic, but even the NY Times recently had an editorial pointing out that in this case, pragmatism cannot excuse voting for such a uniquely shameful Bill.

Would you trust Rep Brown now?

My FAX to Sen. Ken Salazar.

Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Voting for this bill or things similar falls into the category of "Everything good you've ever done is negated by this action." Ken Salazar introduced Alberto "Torquemada" Gonzalez to the senate for confirmation. In fact, he's voted for every Bush appointtee except one. He voted for John "Mr. Death Squad" Negropointe.

"I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

Anyway, the FAX. I sent a copy to many liberal friends and everyone who has bothered to reply has endorsed it.

Dear Senator Salazar:

I sit here in my home tonight with a knot in my stomach, sort of a need to throw up. Why? Because of your support of the McCain/Salazar “Torture is Fun” bill. I also find myself wanting to cry as I witness in my very own lifetime how Hitler came to power. I never would have guessed that my “Golden Years” would be under a semi-totalitarian government and that a Democrat would have voted to help it.

HOW DARE YOU VIOLATE OUR SACRED CONSTITUTION?

HOW DARE YOU PUT IN DANGER OUR TROOPS WHO MIGHT FIND THEMSELVES IN CAPTIVITY?

HOW DARE YOU CALL YOURSELF A DEMOCRAT?

Great presidents both Republican and Democrat have taken the higher road fo over two hundred years, and in one vote you side with Hitler, Saddam Hussein, the Shah of Iran, Pinochet, and our very own John “Mr. Nicaraguan Death Squad” Negropointe, whom you helped into office.

As a Democratic activist, precinct chairman, and a volunteer at the state capitol for a Democrat, I am outraged. As an American, I am outraged. As a Quaker, I am outraged. As a human being, I am outraged.

You have my appreciation for many good votes for the people of the US and Colorado. But this vote, sir, is like a great citizen found to be a child molester: Nothing else counts.

I will be doing my best to unseat you in 2010. I will work with any Democrat running against you, and I will even vote for a Republican, which I have never done in my life.

Where was the protest and outcry when the Patriot Act was passed?
Where was the protest and resistance when Patriot II was passed?
And then there was the vote to give war powers to the President, any time he wanted it. . .where were the brave Americans? AT THE SHOPPING MALL AND FOOTBALL GAMES!

Where were the Free and the Brave when the NSA warrentless wiretapping was broadcast across America as "this is what is good for YOU" BS that cloaked this theft of freedom? They were wringing their hands over Gay Marriage and legal abortion.

What were Americans doing? NOTHING to stop this from happening.

Well, you can add John McCain to the list of Republicans I Used To Like. When you legislate torture of any kind to be O.K., you have lost your heart and soul in a very bad way.

This proves that there are no Christian principles of any kind at work in either party really.

"...one nation, under God...." - I don't think so. "With liberty and justice for all" can now be amended to exclude whoever you'd like.

When doing the right thing gets tough to do, just legislate so that avoiding doing the right thing gets easier... and legal.

That's the Republican Way.

I expect this from the sorry likes of Mike DeWine and George Voinavich but Debbie Stabenow??? How disappointing to be betrayed by a onetime progressive now going conservative. Was this because of the tough ace she is in for re-election or is she succumbing to the state of T E R R O R built by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove. There is no excuse for this. I lived in Michigan for five years and I voted for Stabenow. I now live in Ohio, a once blue state transformed to red, much like Michigan has been transformed to a red state. People in the street I know aren't buying into this crap and do not want this done in their name. I know I don't. When our soldiers are brutalized you can all look to this vote and say " I did this to these soldiers because I didn't stand up to Bush. I didn't do my constitutional duty." Torture is not OK no matter who does it. I thought America stood for something. Besides torture and illegal behavior. I hope everyone who voted for this is held for war crimes after all this is over. Oh thats right, like the drug wars it will never end. The criminals who stole this country will see to that. This goes beyond disgusting.

We may remember this session of the Senate as the "Snuff" one.

Our nuclear war fighting elite are finished, it makes little difference what they say or do: They are all going away sometime, hopefully, sooner than later.

The plan from the beginning of the nuclear age was and continues to be the total destruction of the human race with the use of nuclear weapons.

This is why they all are always "Smirking," it is the Darned funniest thing ever.

The "ET" have shot off our nuclear war fighting criminal elite: It is but a matter of time until the Minds of the populace awaken to the reality of the actual plans to kill us all.

Until then, our bloodsucking shit spouting idiot political criminal elite can pass whatever torture measures they want. They are going one way or the other.

If it was not for the plans to exterminate the mass of humanity with the use of nuclear weapons, they might have been able to hang on longer. At the moment they are all nothing but a bunch of snuff murderers in Fairyland.

All of those congressmen and senators that voted for the so-call detainee bill especially those so call Democratic should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, of course anyone that attempts to harm and/or harms the US must and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. But our Rule of Law has Always offered the accused the chance for a FAIR trial to prove that they are not guilty. What is scary is that under the leadership of this lying Administration if one does not agree with it and/or it's policies you could be declared an unlawful enemy combatant and on the receiving end of this great piece of legislation.

The barbarians have stormed the gates and we are imprisoned and made subject to their totalitarianistic view of the world. Think fast people, while your thoughts are still your own. Praise Bush, may his name be blessed. Surrender all ye men of little merit. The ship of state is taking on water and will soon be only wreckage on the sea floor.
