In an exclusive interview given to the New York Post, Secretary of State Condi Rice "boils over at Bubba," accusing him of "making 'flatly false' claims that the Bush administration didn't lift a finger to stop terrorism before the 9/11 attacks."

"The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn't do that is just flatly false -- and I think the 9/11 commission understood that," Rice said during a wide-ranging meeting with Post editors and reporters.
"What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years," Rice added.
*cough*Aug 6 PDB*cough*

Maha sets to work swiftly making hash of Condi's claims. Highly recommended.

Meanwhile, Creature at State of the Day picks out another of Condi's claims, that Iraq is part of a " longer-term strategy" which "may even have some short-term down side," and notes: "Thousands dead, billions out of our bank account, new extremists up the wazoo..." At least give Condi credit for euphemizing such a patent disaster with such a quaint turn of phrase as "down side."

All murderers lie to save their butts and she speaks only lies to cover her trail of mayhem. Those snake eyes tell a lot and those spike heels dig into the flesh her message of murder!

Put Condi and Clinton behind podiums - with microphones - on camera - live, and see what happens. I'd say incontinence may quickly set in on Condi's side, and make sure BC has water. He tends to want something to suck on, to help him keep going. Just as before, he'll be the one smiling because it felt good; not some fake - toothy grin for the camera. Oh, and don't forget the mop!

Brazen, Ms. Rice!!

To lie to us, without blinking - pretty frightening. Memo to you, notwithstanding, you and President Bush's new 9/11 Commission-friendly stance is surprising, seeing as we had to pull every proverbial tooth in the White House to get you to cooperate with it. Nothing that comes from this administration is even close to truth.

Condi thinks we are all as brain dead as she is.

Seems everyone in this adminaistration thinks we are all brain dead.I can see the skinny mouthpeice testifying about the terror alert about Bin Ladin determined to attack the US and I think the source of the of the Daily briefing mentioned airplanes.
She might be one of the folks who joked about Richard Clark running around with his hair on fire. What a reality challenged woman. Now if she can read why did she not point this out to, George who of course doesn't like to read.Seems kind of relavant to me ,but then I am not an expert like she is.

Please oh please, pretty please, take Condi up on her desire to squash you in a debate! President Clinton and Condolizzy in an actual debate. Why with her curiously refreshing twist on facts, Her gift for understatement, why she'll make sweet potato pie outta the bubba. It would cause politics to rise to the level so prized by H.L. Menken, that of being the best amusement possible.

The first one's an ambitious liar, the second one's an unambitious liar, and the third should have quit years ago and come out against the Imbecile-in-Chief. Not a very good record for blacks in politics. But of course they were chosen for their retrograde, dishonest, cowardly views. Of the three, Uncle Thomas is much the worst, displaying pure, lying hypocrisy. He's not quite so stupid as to believe the shit he advocates.

So Condi, What DID you do in the months before 9/11??

Inquiring minds want to know. What we do know is that your boss spent much of those 8 months at the ranch "clearing brush." In fact, by the beginning of that summer, the media was full of derision for the 43rd president for being at work less time than being at the ranch. No other President had ever taken so much time off at the beginning of his presidency.

And of course there was the CIA memo "Aug. 6 PDB" that no one likes to mention. According to Condi, there was nothing that specific in the memo to act upon. Actually, it looks like she took the first sentence out of each paragraph which usually only announces what's in the paragraph, and left the "meat" out as if it were never there.

She did the same thing with the Clinton plan for dealing with terrorists which she said was delivered to them on Jan. 28, 2001. Close enough for me, Bush had only been in office a couple of weeks. My guess is that Bush saw it, glanced through it and "filed" it away.

Another way of lying is to tell half truths. The Repugs are very good at spin, in fact I daresay that they're masters in the field. Maybe they don't know HOW to tell the full truth. If one has nothing to hide, the truth is easy to tell.

Condi is the mistress of neocon and neocol(onial) obfuscation and "pulling the topic floor from under you." First, the delivery: ultra sincere in the laryngal wining, the equivalent of Bush's leaning towards you with hand on heart. Second, the metamessage of "can't you see this? It's simple and clear and if you can't, there's something wrong with you! Almost like a school-marm in Catholic Ruanda (where?) where black nappy-headed giggly beautiful girls are taught to respect straight-haired black power-crazy women who have made it (yeah, but where?). Substatively, she has a ritualized delivery. First, the spin: It has 3 power points. Then a detailed, unrelated elaboration of each of the points. If she is interruped to RETURN to the question on the floor, she darts into the cave of totally unrelated rebuttals. You can try to route her out of there like a rodent but she will bite and insist on making the point, putting it into another context, changing the level of discourse and finally, refusing to give up the floor!! You are then told that you haven't given her the chance to explain FULLY what she has in mind and will not relinquish the floor even though she's changed the linoleum and redecorated the whole room, so to speak! She then leaves you speechless because you cannot believe where you have been led and your final demise is punctuated by her insistence that you don't understand and won't give her the common courtesy to continue!! And that's the story of Condi Rice
