Oh how I wish it were a joke... I just wanna wake up in Kansas. Just once.

Princeton computer scientist Ed Felton, recently featured in this video called "How to Steal an Election," has a pretty little bow to tie up his video and report on Diebold machines.

Because so many of the Diebold problems require a certain working knowledge of computers, he found something new that anyone can understand:

The access panel door on a Diebold AccuVote-TS voting machine — the door that protects the memory card that stores the votes, and is the main barrier to the injection of a virus — can be opened with a standard key that is widely available on the Internet.
It's a standard key available anywhere on the internet, according to Felton. "[T]he exact same key is used widely in office furniture, electronic equipment, jukeboxes, and hotel minibars." (FreedomToTinker; HT: TMN)

Digg!

Voting on a paper ballot in KANSAS

I'm going in to vote early on a paper ballot. We can vote 10 days early at the courthouse. No machines for me. Our current democratic governor Kathleen Sebelius has a 20 point lead over her challenger and my husband is running for re-election as a state representative. He's a democrat in a district that is only 26% democrat but he managed to unseat a 12 year republican incumbent 4 years ago and ran unopposed 2 years ago. His opponent this year is a right wing nut. I'm not taking any chances with a voting machine. EVERYONE should request an advanced ballot or vote early. If the courthouses are deluged with advanced ballot requests and early voters, they may get the message that these machines need to be more reliable.

I have one of those! I had no idea what iwas gonna do with that when I stole it from the Airport Marriott. Seriously why don't we break-in and change all the votes to Ronald Reagan and Herbert Hoover, so we can really relive the bad old days.
