Warning: This video contains nudity and the objectification of women. While AlterNet does not endorse the Governor's perspectives we do feel that it's important for the American people to have all the information available on public figures' politics -- both personal and policy-oriented.

Coincidentally, just as we post this sleaze-fest from the archives, the LA Times has just obtained a recording of the Governator commenting on the "hot blood" of Latinas:

"I mean, they are all very hot," the governor says. "They have the, you know, part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them that together makes it."
=-=-=-=

On the one hand California Gov. Schwarzenegger is getting stroked by James Dobson's Focus on the Family for his veto of a gay-acknowledgement bill, while on the other they have to ignore things like the video to the right.

Messy thing, purity.

This is one to share with California friends (use this link: http://alternet.org/blogs/peek/41434)

Special thanks to the folks at the Found Footage Festival for donating the footage... (FFF)

Digg!

Sweaty white men the world over make such asinine remarks and feel perfectly justified in reducing colored people to stereotypes. He fits in well with American politics.

Oh come on now. Arnie looks about 28 in this video. Only a true rascist would think mulatto babes are not the hottest thing going. Or someone who has a dead sexuality. Arnie has accomplished more than 99% of the whining posters on this board. Give the guy some credit. Hope he stll is an ass man !

This clip actually leaves out an even more offensive portion of the full video:

The full clip includes him on-stage with the Brazilian dancers, groping them, as well as making his tour guide perform fellatio on a carrot. Much much worse.

I didn't think the word "mulatto" had been used to describe people since the turn of the 20th century. Is "quadroon" coming back, too? What about the Indian ancestry of some of these folks? I am so confused.

In Cuba - where I have been 8 times over the past 6 years, 'Mulatto' is not a perjorative term. In fact, there is a rum called 'Mulatta'. Its label has a coffee skinned but caucasian featured woman. It is probably not a perjorative term in Brazil either.

If not racist, then surely sexist

I'm white and I find it offensive because I'm a woman. I'm sick of it being okay to objectify women in this manner. It is degrading, and makes me feel like I have to look 'perfect' in order to have any value. The thing with anything like that is that, yes, it's confidence building to shake your ass, but you're only allowed if you maintain that perfect body that the girls on the video had (a rare thing), and the empowering effects of it are limited. Whose sexuality is this? Is it her sexuality she's expressing, or is it Arnie's? If a woman's sexuality boils down to her ability to impress men through striptease or belly dancing then surely women are all narcissists with no genuine interest in men?

I love the fact that american family values translates to - women are dolls, gays are wrong. If your man wont have sex with you, you should feel bad, and if you dont want to have sex with a man, you should feel bad. Why can't you be more like Britney Spears?

That's the point here. Arnie preaches about family values but shows little to no respect for the women on whom the family rests.

"I mean, they are all very hot," the governor says. "They have the, you know, part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them that together makes it."

This, in a nutshell, is racialism. 'A little touch of this, a little touch of that, add a pinch of this other and you can have a 'hot', an 'endowed', an 'athletic', ad-infinitum product. It's the recipe, you see. This is one of the clearest expositions of the very core of racist thinking. The relatively bland response to it is downright scary. This person occupies a powerful position in the ruling institutions of a State! The return of the 'blue bloods' is imminent, prepare to be bowing to the Uber-Mensch.

A little bit of tabloid top-spin is fair enough. But it's a gross distortion to present this 1970s clip as a "porn" video. In those days, Schwarzenegger himself was making the best living he could as a performing monkey who showed off his butt in public.

For the period, Schwarzenegger comes across as naively respectful in that awkwardly sophomoric German way that he portrayed to charming effect as the ridiculously quaint Julius Benedict in the 1988 movie "Twins."

It's bizarre that a body builder with Nazi roots and limited grasp of the English language should crawl out of the pre-Boogie-Nights sleazefest to become a successful Hollywood actor. It's outrageous that he should manage to parlay that success into a political career. But you're emphasizing the weakness of your case when you try to hang him for explaining Latin hot bloodedness in the pseudo scientific terms he may be struggling to remembered from his wonder years in Josef Mengele Elementary.

How are we going to make the racist ass grabber Schwarzenegger answer for his crimes when you get hysterical about some sub-Hefner video and this present-day lapse into the the legendary dialogue of Ron Burgundy?

Oh come on 'rupzer' Surely you had a nice ass at some point in your life. If you didn't shake it that way when you had the chance, you missed out. That's the price of being uptight. A nice ass is beauty. The ancients knew it. Don't see much cellulite on ancient Greek statues, do you? And the males are all ripped. No pot bellies there. Everyone should be someone's sex object when they're young. So what. That's what youth's about. Maybe you were born an old soul. Too bad. When we're in our 50's, we can go for intellectual stimulation or money. In your 20's & 30's, take the hot bod. Or at least try a sample. And what do you think attracts a hot chick? A handsome, hot bod guy. Sorry if that's too shallow for you. You're only young once !!

Sensationalizing a video that isn’t sensational

“This video contains nudity and the objectification of women.” and "Arnie Porn (video is Rated R)” Possibly, from the prissy and misinformed point of view. And depends what is meant by “objectification”; as in the objectification of women in classical paintings or sculpture?

Sad thing, Puritanism.

But this video certainly isn’t porn unless you are a fundamentalist Puritan. There is nothing more revealing in the video than breasts and bare behinds. Big deal. That stuff is seen daily in Europe and other countries for breakfast and there’s no unhealthy obsession over it.

There’s more “objectification” of scantier clad women in women’s magazines, more links and obsession with glamour and sex toward women in other industries in our society on an hourly basis. This video isn’t making the point at all as it concerns Schwarzenegger’s professed love of “hot latino” women and his veto of the gay bill. If this had been a real porn film, then there would have been more of a point.

Is Mr. Derkacz trying to portray that the “Left” is just as prissy and puritanical as the “Right”? Try again.

The only difference between Arnie and other politicians is that he was an entertainer first. Most (obviously not all) career politicians aren't stupid enough to be videotaped as horny young men. They keep that kind of behavior in the closet next to the starched collars of racism where it belongs. Any gay-friendly legislation is a tough sell in this christian conservative climate. But, don't dismiss the fact that California is on the leading edge of some very progressive legislation to protect the environment and encourage elections determined by the popular vote. Is Arnie a man who - very obviously in his younger years - found hot women hot? Yes. But all lust is objectifying. Is he, or was he, racist? That's a difficult judgment call to make given that the video was shot several years ago. In Brazil.
