Gary Lankford, the Ohio Republican Party's newly hired "social conservative coordinator" and a "Christian home school headmaster," has sent out an email attacking Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland, in which his church attendance, work ethic, voting record, and marriage were assailed, and a website questioning whether Strickland is gay was linked.

Mr. Lankford's e-mail to social conservatives linked to a blog entry at pullinsreport.blogspot.com that called Mr. and Mrs. Strickland's relationship "bizarre" and claimed a Blade article about their decision not to have children implies "the Stricklands are both gay."

Strickland called the charges "preposterous" and "not factual." The Ohio GOP has "condemned the message and said they disciplined Mr. Lankford but did not fire him." Of course they didn't. Because he's doing precisely the job he was hired to do.

The e-mail surfaced shortly after the campaign of U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (R., Cedarville) launched a television ad - produced by the agency behind the "Swift Boat" campaign against 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry - that flashed terrorist mug shots and a smoking World Trade Center to underscore criticism of Mr. DeWine's Democratic opponent's record on national security.

I spy a party who can't possibly win on the issues.

Isn't it a shame the party that spouts "morals and ethics" are so shamefully lacking in same and feel they have to stoop so low to reach so high?

I am sick to death of this approach to politics. Hate sells. I do have a "solution" for dealing with these hate-mongers, but I fear I would be pegged a Nazi if I posted it here!!!

See what these bastards have done to me?

The key word is "innuendo". No facts to support the charges just appealing to blind stupidity. Go ahead and email me privately Federerfan, I would like to hear your thougts. I spent 25-30 years reading history for my own edification, mainly Nazi history and am pretty well versed in Nazi ideology

I don't know about anybody else, but I can't think of any reason a married couple would not have children except being gay.

Not one person wrote, "And so what if he is? Does it matter?" Stupid me. It obviously does. Defend the candidate's straightness no matter what. The "center" thinks straight = better human beings. Gotta emphasize that, you know.

in case anyone wonders why gay people vote Republican or Green or Libertarian or whatnot, wonder no longer. Gays are not in the Dems' pocket no matter what. Ignore them and keep losing elections. It's better to have known enemies in high places than false friends; they eliminate the middle man.

........that the more "Christian" someone claims to be, the more immoral, unethical, hate-filled, war-loving, narrow-minded, controlling of others, sex-fearing, and death-oriented they are. A "Christian" of this type would not recognize the evil in Bushit if it sat on his face.
