Sen Rick Santorum (R-Pa) and Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI) held a press conference yesterday to announce that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq, only to have their claims flatly disavowed by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Santorum and Hoekstra were talking about the degraded and inoperable remnants of Saddam's pre-1991 chemical weapons program that are turning up at various sites around Iraq. Their allegations are based on the U.S. government's own Iraq Survey Group. The very same report convinced President Bush that Iraq did not have WMD.

The DOD flatly disavowed the Congressmen's WMD claims. ThinkProgress: "Fox News’ Jim Angle contacted the Defense Department who quickly disavowed Santorum and Hoekstra’s claims. A Defense Department official told Angle flatly that the munitions hyped by Santorum and Hoekstra are “not the WMD’s for which this country went to war.”

So! The "former” Senator, formerly from Pennsylvania, as well as that embarrassment from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, have formally had their respective pee-pees whacked by the DOD. What an absolutely breathtaking degree of desperation these wingnuts are exhibiting.

My advice guys; save it for a week before the November election. With any kind of luck, these pathetic attempts may enjoy the luxury of NOT being fact checked.

As we say up here in the UP, “Wah!”

Got to give the guy a thumbs up for trying soooo hard to justify and sanctimonously defend the completely invalidated and grossly manipulated intelligence that brought us into this hell that is no longer war, but an occupation gone deadly. May he keep speechifying, stuffing his flunky feet deeper down his perverted and hate spouting throat. Desperation becomes him. It brings out the yellow coloring from deep within his calcified heart and that suits him so well. Flailing about, trying to latch onto a 'timely' issue, highlights the hypocrisy that unseemingly oozes out of his obvious thin skin, giving him that special glow reminiscent of a proud, self-satisfied bigot. May this next election be a referendum against his digusting, divisive and completely mendacious self. The only weapons of mass destruction he will find are the lies he spouts and his own image reflected back at him from his mirror.

Before, the cheering about Mr Santorum's depatrure from the U S Senate & the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2007 begins-look at the replacment. Bill Casey is the Democratic candidate. Mr Casey is to the right of the right to life pack for 1 thing. Bill Casey may prove the rabidly left wing bloggers belief that the 2 parties in the USA's 2 party system are alike & appendages of the power elite or establishment.
Mr Santorum is believed to be a carpet bagger with no real ties to Pa; if he leaves after a probable loss in Nov, 2006-he won't be missed in Pa. Mr Casey is a conservative in name & action. [If a reactionary can be said to act since conservatives are numbered among the reactionary.] While those outside Pa may miss Mr Santorum's wild claims & comments or seeing him shoot himself in the foot while his foot is in his mouth-remember W is still in office & Cheney & Rumsfeld are W's minders, speak & "think" for W.
Mr Casey will be Pa's conservative in the Senate, a DINO, Democrat In Name Only & be to the right of Pa's Senator, labeled by Mr Santorum & others a RINO-Republican In Name Only.

The Senator found WMDs. Amazing, maybe we should send him to Afghanistan to find Bin Laden. Senator, how about you find the Constitution and stop tapping phones, banning books like "America Deceived" by E.A. Blayre III, stop caging protestors, and stop starting illegal wars? That might be a better use of your time instead of voting yourself constant pay raises.

If you spent billions of dollars, like they did in the Iraq search, in Virginia looking for evidence that the state still harbored weapons designed to break up the Union, you would find them, and then you could argue that Virginia should be occupied.

Don't forget about Hoekstra

Hoekstra was identified as going with Curt Weldon to Paris last July, and having a secret meeting with Manucher Ghorbanifar, in violation of State Department protocols.

Ghorbanifar was a majpr player in the Iran/Contra debacle of the Reagan Administration and several Reagan appointees who had dealings with Ghorbanifar at that time called him a liar.

The CIA has considered Ghorbanifar to be utterly untrustworthy since before the Iran/Contra affair, and has two burn notices issued on him.

None other than Michael Ledeen introduced Ghorbanifar to the Reagan administration, and Ledeen openly admits his continuing association wit him.

Hoekstra is head of the House Intelligence committee. Shouldn't his security clearance be revoked for his Parisian tryst?

What in the Hell is wrong with Pennsylvania? They can't get a decent candidate in the whole state? I live right next door, and thank God in a blue state. Santorum makes the entire state of Pennsylvania look like it is populated by a-holes.

These charges are the same "frothy mix" as Santorum himself.

Wonder what I am talking about? Google Santorum.

I guess on a cool morning I could think of a couple of things that would please me more than seeing Senator Santorum publicly whipped, hung, pulled to pieces by Tartar ponies, and his several parts exhibited across the street from my president's home at Crawford, Texas. A couple of things, maybe four or five. No more.

Now, having established my own lightness of spirit and my casual vindictiveness toward the Pipsquak from Pennsylvania, let me say this was a thin story. Some juicy quotes would have helped a bit, but still, it's not much of a tale unless there are consequences.

We want consequences.
