The author of a critical biography of Karl Rove ended up on a no-fly list. James Moore, an Emmy-award winning journalist and author of Bush's Brain was recently barred from boarding a flight from Texas to Ohio.

An airline employee gave Moore an 800 number to check on his no fly status. Moore posted this excerpt from their conversation at the Huffington Post:

"Mam, I'd like to know how I got on the No Fly Watch List."

"I'm not really authorized to tell you that, sir," she explained after taking down my social security and Texas driver's license numbers.

"What can you tell me?"

"All I can tell you is that there is something in your background that in some way is similar to someone they are looking for."

"Well, let me get this straight then," I said. "Our government is looking for a guy who may have a mundane Anglo name, who pays tens of thousands of dollars every year in taxes, has never been arrested or even late on a credit card payment, is more uninteresting than a Tupperware party, and cries after the first two notes of the national anthem? We need to find this guy. He sounds dangerous to me."

"I'm sorry, sir, I've already told you everything I can."

"Oh, wait," I said. "One last thing: this guy they are looking for? Did he write books critical of the Bush administration, too?"
Hat tip to Maccabee.

So how do you get OFF the no fly list

It certainly is interesting reading about the plight of this poor individual who had the audacity to write a book critical of
Bush's brain and by extension Bush . I would bet he is also one of those spied on by the Government .

What was truly Frightening was the treatment AFTER he was refused boarding . They told him to call a number which basically said you are on the list and we can't tell how you got there. This of course makes it impossible to even think about how you can get yourself REMOVED . It is like going to trial but we can't tell you what you are being charged with
so you can't prepare an adequet defense .
What do you DO ? Imagine as I do that you are poised to leave on an expensive european vacation and you are told that you are on a no fly list and can't board the plane . Goodbye vacation and probably goodbye money paid for trip . I can only assume that even with Travel insurance this would NOT be covered .
So who can you SUE . Answer is probably NO ONE
I am so so angry at this . I don't want to say much more for reasons that are obvious .

This stuff is getting out of control. They've got to be stopped. Makes me wonder if I'm on the list as well.

Holy shades of "1984". Don't say anything bad about this president. I guess there are no rules he has to follow. Gee I hope he doesn't read this.

Is there a way we can get EVERYONE on this list...then nobody can fly anywhere? The airlines will go bananas and eventually it will all have to be sorted out, probably just by wiping the slate clean so EVERYBODY can once again fly.

Stop flying as much as possible even if you are not listed!

I think all of us should fly only out of dire necesity until that time when this freaking govt. comes to its senses. Air lline companies may lobby in our behalf, won't they? May be, avoid those flights that involve House members. That may send them a message. Consumer power should be channelled to do things, I think.

Let's all legally change our names to "George W. Bush"!

I would like to suggest a perfectly legitimate remedy to Mr. Moore's unfortunate "No Fly List" dilemma. He should visit his local court house and legally change his name to: "George W. Bush". Just imagine if every man, woman and child in America decided to change their name to "George W. Bush"! It's time for "We, the People" to start screwing with the minds of those who would control ours!! If nothing else, it would sure make getting reservations a whole lot easier!!!

It sounds to me that, since he pays so many thousands of dollars in taxes every year, James Moore should be able to buy his own private jet, thereby circumventing the no-fly list.

Apparently, the only reason he's on the list is retribution and revenge at the hands of 'Bush's Brain', Karl Rove.

That man Rove is truly evil, in a way only those of us who believe in the physical reality of Satan can understand.
