That a 'cabal' had taken over our government wasn't all the Wilkerson speech revealed...

Many are, understandably, focusing on the 'cabal' comment made by Colin Powell's former Chief of Staff, Larry Wilkerson. It may not be news to AlterNet readers that Bush is a dimwit and that our foreign policy has been taken over by a cabal but a little high profile corroboration never hurt.

That's the only comment the papers picked up on, but it's far from the only explosive revelation. billmon read the full transcript of Wilkerson's speech and found a couple more interesting tidbits, "Like this rather ominous look at the real U.S. energy plan":

We had a discussion in policy planning about actually mounting an operation to take the oilfields in the Middle East, internationalize them, put them under some sort of U.N. trusteeship and administer the revenues and the oil accordingly. That’s how serious we thought about it. We had a discussion in policy planning about actually mounting an operation to take the oilfields in the Middle East, internationalize them, put them under some sort of U.N. trusteeship and administer the revenues and the oil accordingly.
Sorta makes No Blood for Oil, that "simplistic" and "unsavvy" protest sign look positively prescient, doesn't it?

billmon also notes that war with North Korea was on the table but for an unlikely dove... (Whiskey Bar)

To The AMERICAN PEOPLE: So how much more evidence do you need that we are running out of oil?? Cheney and his Cabal know this and are trying to secure middle eastern oil. 15 new bases does not mean we are going to leave anytime soon. WAKE UP AMERICA!!
When will you rush the White House gates in protest? When gas hits $5.00 or $6.00 dollars?
