Here we see why Phil Donahue's show was canceled by MSNBC despite having been its highest rated program. Had Phil remained on TV, perhaps -- perhaps -- the war and a number of other catastrophically stupid policies would've been that much harder to pull over on the American audience people.

After taking O'Reilly's opening framing of Cindy Sheehan and incinerating it with some impresive reframing, Donahue cuts O'Reilly off and says (as O'Reilly disavows the Sheehan as "unAmerican" label and opts for "radical")[VIDEO]:

"Let me tell you what's radical. What's radical is to send more Americans to die in this war which is a monumental blunder by a president who swaggered us into it with, by the way, the, at least, tacit approval of the Democratic party -- there's a lot of sin to go around here..."
And even as O'Reilly cut in, Donahue wouldn't give an inch. Watch this. Watch it now. (video via Crooks and Liars)

Mr. Phil Donohue waded into the redneck right's den and tore it up. I was so very happy to see Oh'Really? O'Reilly get fried and burned in a very eloquent way. Mr.Donohue cut him from stem to stern and uncovered the rel coward he is. "Billy" as Phil referred to the dufus was so inept it was funny watching the worm squirm. Qudos to His Majesty Phil.
Please write to Donohue and implore him to come back on as a regular in a regular format on CNN, NBC or some other national forum.

It is always good to see Phil (Donahue, not Dr. Feel) on t.v. and especially to serve-up Bill O'Really's hash.

Every time I see this man speak, I like him more and more. Does anyone know who his publicist is? I want to send a thank you note for making my morning.

It is so wonderful to see someone deflate the hateful gasbag O'Reilly. "Billy" sure had to struggle to get his footing. "Billy" always resorts to acting personally hurt or offended instead of actually responding to what his interviewee is saying, and this time it really was grossly apparent and embarassing on his behalf.

I love how Phil put him on the defensive immediately, and O'Reilly was not quick or intelligent enough to recover.

Talk about idiocy - O'Reilly is the quintessential tape-recorder for rightwing propaganda, spewing out his jingoistic crap instead of responding in a coherent manner.

My, my that made my day. I am going to write Phil a HUGE fan letter!

Does anyone know how tall Phil Donahue is? I ask this seemingly odd question because O'Reilly seemed not to be able to bully him like he does to most people, and when I have seen his show (admittedly only once, which is enough for any thinking, sentient being to realize what a raving loon the man is) he had a least a foot in height over his guest (though perhaps 'sacrifice', would be more apt), who he proceeded to ridicule and attack like some sort of rabid animal.

I only wish that other guests on the asylum that is The O'Reilly Factor were able to not only so eloquently state their feelings, but actually go toe to toe with O'Reilly and those of his ilk.

Hey folks, I loved this one too... for anyone who remembers his sweet mug on daytime TV it's a bonus to know he's also got a heart of gold and nerves of steel. Let's pass it on... here's the link: http://alternet.org/blogs/peek/25836/

... can't stop replaying it. "I'm no Jeremy Glick... Have you apologised to him yet?" At which point O'Reilly freaks out!!!

Any TV network who doesn't swoop down and get Donahue back on the air has sh*t for brains.

A decade has passed since my best friend, G, and I lived together and spent many an hour before the goggle box in awe and delight of Phil D in action. With delight once more, I sent my best friend the link to your story because G & I also have seen the now infamous "Outfoxed.org" video in which Jeremy Glick was attacked and thrown off the show by megalomaniac "Billy" O'Reilly. [Loved it when Phil called that FOX blowhard 'Billy!'] G's reply via IM was immediate:
" The real Dr. Phil!" ;-}
namasté, neilemac
