Halliburton's KBR to do Katrina cleanup

Posted by Evan Derkacz at 11:06 AM on September 3, 2005.

And you won't believe who's lobbying for them.
Thanks, Halliburton!

For its ineptitude and dishonest business practices, Halliburton's contracts ought to have been cancelled not extended, as they were in 2004. And although it falls under a contract already in place, it's nonetheless disturbing that administration cronies will profit from this catastrophe in any way -- direct or indirect. On your dime no less.

From Halliburton Watch:

"he US Navy asked Halliburton to repair naval facilities damaged by Hurricane Katrina, the Houston Chronicle reported today. The work was assigned to Halliburton's KBR subsidiary under the Navy's $500 million CONCAP contract awarded to KBR in 2001 and renewed in 2004. The repairs will take place in Louisiana and Mississippi."

Here's the kicker:

"In March, the former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is tasked with responding to hurricane disasters, became a lobbyist for KBR. Joe Allbaugh was director of FEMA during the first two years of the Bush administration."

Allbaugh also happens to be a former Bush campaign manager and chief of staff. (Halliburton Watch)

Digg!

What did you expect? Honest American Companies restoring or rebuilding New Orleans at a reasonable price? Get Real people, this is the Bush /Cheney Cartel of Corruption at work spending your tax dollars and laughing in your face when they are caught collecting for services they do not provide nor intend to provide.
Already they are treating this like it was Afghanistan or Iraq, leading with guns instead of Aid and then bringing everything to a screeching halt when the Supreme Idiot makes his showing for a photo-op.
The Blame Game is already started, smear those that are trying to do something and reward those that do nothing. How can Bush try to place blame on those that are there and have been there while he was busy golfing or having photo-ops with his cronies.
New Orleans and the Gulf Coast need a clean-up but before that starts, there needs to be a clean-up in Washington, from the White House to the Senate to the Congress to the Supreme Court, Republicans and Democrats. Add to this the Bush Fawning Media and the Evangelicals given air time to preach their hate.
If there is to be a clean-up, make it a real one and Give America Back To The American People, the ones that have had the guts to fight and die for this country and not the bootlipped corrupt cowards that now run it.

While the emphasis this week was on the looting by refugees in New Orleans, no one is discussing the utter and complete looting by this White House and their cronies of the United States of America. Haliburton is just the getaway car.

I have heard on the radio, that the president has given another no bid contract to KBR, this time for Katrina cleanup. . And as a part of this contract, it states that they don't have to pay workers the current or going labor rate. Has anyone else heard this? Another assault on the american worker, if this is true!
