At turns humorous & indignant, Cindy Sheehan's feeling the momentum.

Cindy Sheehan returned to Camp Casey yesterday and followed a Joan Baez song with a moving speech to supporters that went from humorous to sad to pissed off at an unlikely source (all paraphrasing...mp3 for stream or download is here):

*People are trying to smear me, saying that I'm a media whore if I really were a media whore, don't they think I'd go get myself fixed up or something?

*I watched Jon Stewart last night and he remarked on Joan Baez's presence saying that we were probably trying to stop the Vietnam War and I was offended because maybe if we had really stopped Vietnam Iraq wouldn't have happened.

*She noted that unlike the movement to stop the war in Vietnam she would continue to fight after the Iraq war ends to ensure that no mother has to go through what she has gone through.

Cindy then posted this at Kos, hat tip to Steve Gilliard.

Paper Crosses

Honestly,
no one could see it coming, Cindy!
in crawford texas, yet,
engine racing,
angry terrorist roadrage
mow them crosses down!

might makes right, Cindy!
don't ya know?

don't remind us of their names
we don't wanna know, Cindy!
don't remind us of your pain
we don't wanna feel, Cindy!

come on,
let us forget our shame, Cindy!

Now all that remains of
those insignificant faceless martyrs
those nameless sons and daughters
nailed to their wooden crosses
are splinters of forgoten memories
killed for the profits of democracy!
might makes right, Cindy!
don't ya know?

And, why should He speak with you, Cindy?
He who coerces through lies and deceit
He who commands the ultimate Armageddon
He who controls the destiny of the world
while he hides behind his presidential secrecy
with His ALL powerful god and Democracy!

Honestly,
why should He speak with you, Cindy?
who was your Casey but a pawn to this King?

oh america when will you
wake up to the truth?

Margeret Thatcher. I've never liked Thatcher, because I grew up with BBC comedy, but when her husband died, they published a photo of her which was the very essence of grief. Pure, physical, uncontrollable grief, and every human who saw it had to feel for her.

Anyone who would attack or smear this woman would happily kick puppies.
