A post by RedState.com's Erick Erickson that Rush Limbaugh is hyping falsely claims that a memorandum from the federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will "purge the federal government of Republican civil servants" and "forc[e]" former Bush administration political appointees who currently have positions in the federal civil service "out of their jobs."

In fact, the OPM memo does nothing of the sort. It merely beefs up current OPM rules aimed at preventing political appointees from "burrowing in" to the civil service, thereby receiving the job security benefits that civil servants -- but not political appointees -- receive. While the memo states that agencies must seek permission from OPM to hire people as civil servants if they have been political appointees "within the last five years," nothing in the memo creates authority for anyone to fire current federal employees. Therefore, the OPM memo does not "purge" anybody.

Digg!

What? When Bush did it, it was ok?

Effing hypocrites. Bush put every god-damned incompetent campaign contributer and their nasty cats and dogs in key positions in government agencies when he couldn't put them on the bench somewhere. No experience? Bad record? NO PROBLEM!

The guy who comes to mind first is BROWNIE--Michael D. Brown. When he got appointed director of FEMA, fresh from his direct experience staging area as Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association (from which he "resigned" just before being canned for prejudicial disciplinary procedures), many long-term mainstays of FEMA walked out holding their noses. Net effect: The Katrina Tragedy.

These pissants have GOT to be kidding. Oh, that's right. They can't be. They have no sense of humor.

We (meaning most Americans NOT under Limpball's spell) can read what the document actually says, but for the foam-at-the-mouth rabid moonbat right, why cloud a good conspiracy with the truth.

Too bad Obama'a admin doesn't purge these scum as they must be incompetent. Bush loved putting idiots into offices they couldn't handle, fire them as they are probably obfuscating efforts by Obama's people to achieve some semblance of competent government after the abortion that was the Bush administration.

This is another example of conservative projection because the truth is that the GOP has been working from within the government for over 60 years to continuously purge the civil service of any who will not conform to conservative views ... which they, of course, consider to be the only serious views, all others being part of the hidden conspriacy of [choose one or more from the following list]:
• Communists
• Liberals
• Satan
• Rothschilds
• New world order elites
• Jews
• Masons
• Alien reptiles

Erickson bites Rove

Erickson might qualify for the All-World Bush Admin Apologist Team with the kind of bending-over-backwards hypocrisy required to oppose unqualified political appointees that burrow into a merit-based civil service system:

"In every political system, political appointees are placed into the civil service based on who they know, regardless of their overall merit for the job. It just happens."

Rigged elections just happen, wars just happen, torture just happens, plutonomy just happens, repossession just happens...

Except when Democrats do it, in which case it's clearly a socialist plot or a capital crime.

Mandate a new department.

Call it the "Department of Happy Faces" and transfer all the "qualified" moles and burrowers and all-around dead weight into it.

Their mission: focus on smiles.

Their headquarters: New Orleans.
