Taking their cue directly from Jesus, conservative Christian media stars have been at the forefront of efforts to thwart health reform. Today, progressive religious leaders launched a campaign to help counter the religious right-wing’s crusade to deprive Americans of quality heath care.

The campaign, called "40 Days for Health Reform" kicks off with a nationally aired ad featuring religious leaders advocating for reform.

According to Faith in Public Life, one of the groups involved in the campaign, the ad will be followed by:

• Monday, August 10: New National TV Ad Released Featuring Local Evangelical, Catholic & Mainline Pastors and People of Faith
• Tuesday, August 11: In-District Prayer Events Nationwide Reaching 100+ Members of Congress
• Wednesday, August 19: **Major National Event to Be Announced on the Call**
• Friday through Sunday, August 28-30: Nationwide Health Care Sermon Weekend
• September 1-18: Large-Scale Meetings in Key States with Members of Congress, A Major Event with Local Leaders in DC the Week of September 14, Plus Prayer Rallies, Call-in to Congress Days & Online Campaigns

that religious organizations are advocating for the good of the people while they are alive (as opposed to for their souls, after they die.)
This is pretty good news.
Thank you thank you thank you

... insurance reform is not health care reform.

I hope my brethren in the pews understand the difference.

'Taking their cue directly from Jesus, conservative Christian media stars have been at the forefront of efforts to thwart health reform.'

I'm afraid you don't understand the man very well.

But you do understand him better than the 'conservative Christian' media stars do.

There was only ever one bunch he was publically angry at, and that was precisely the Religious Rght of his day

'Mt 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation...
Mt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Mt 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Mt 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
Mt 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous' Matthew 23.14, 23,25, 27, 29.

Single Payer (or at least a robust public option) is the true Pro-Life position.

Given that an estimated 22,000* people die each year in the U.S. from lack of health care, supporting universal health care for all is the true pro-life position.

*If Right-Wingers Get Their Way, 22,000 Americans Will Continue to Be Killed by Lack of Health Care Each Year
