Federal prison officials have banned an inmate from reading President Obama’s books, claiming that the books contain sensitive national security information which must be kept secret:

The federal government’s most secure prison has determined that two books written by President Barack Obama contain material “potentially detrimental to national security” and rejected an inmate’s request to read them. . . .

Prison officials cite specific pages - but not specific passages - in the books that they deem objectionable. They include one page in Obama’s 1995 book, “Dreams from My Father,” and 22 separate pages in his policy-oriented 2006 book, “The Audacity of Hope.” It was not immediately obvious what passages might have been deemed problematic, though nearly half of the pages cited are in a chapter devoted to foreign affairs.

In The Audacity of Hope, Obama writes that “the dealth penalty does little to deter crime” and explains his “basic principle that no innocent person should end up on death row.” Perhaps that’s just too sensitive for prisoners to read.

Digg!

Makes me wonder what else they can't read. For 'security reasons' that is. Some people just are not intende to have any hope at all. ANNA

I'd like to know exactly who, specifically banned the book. Someone signed a document to make this official. Is this available through FOIA? Ten bucks says it's a born again right wing nut job. The Federal Government is loaded with them. I know some of these people did awful things, but reading is an American right. ANNA

From public statements, we can conclude that Republicans think anyone not in their party is from another species altogether.

They are afraid of the 2-party system and want it abolished. That's their reason for wanting to promote "standard" marriages. They tend to think that marriage will neutralize women's independence in voting, thus cancelling a likely vote for improving citizen participation in government.

In fact, they would like a one-world government, with themselves at its head, of course.

the does NOT give the full and correct story yet uses screamers to get attention.

A PROFESSIONALLY LEGITIMATE publication would have included "THE REST OF THE STORY".

If this isn't one of the Bush Nazi policies, I tell ya. They have been trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes which they have in a captive position for a while now. This is one of the excuses they have been using as a manner of fear & threats to both the prisoner & the public. One, to make the prisoner think they are liable to a crime of national security & two, to make the public think that these people are looking for ways to manipulate the system.

doesn't this remind you of another place, time?

seriously... prison reform is needed, laws need a massive revision and costs to policing incarceration and the judicary need to be simplified and made available to all who need!

why can't people see this...
its all about fear and loathing and all the industries that feed off peoples because of it...

besides, it costs us taxpayers way to much.
ending drug prohibition is a huge step to correcting the greed and political graft and may end the black market lobby and by giving a semblance of political stability...
Washington DC is awash in greenbacks and not all of it is legal tender!

end prohibition now!
