Obama: Gays Will Be Happy By the End of My Administration

President Obama celebrated the anniversary of the Stonewall riots to at the White House Monday, and he used the opportunity to address some grumblings in the gay community.

"We seek an America in which no one feels the pain of discrimination based on who you are or who you love, and I know that many in this room don't believe that progress has come fast enough, and I understand that," he said. "It's not for me to tell you to be patient anymore than it was for others to counsel patience to African-Americans who were petitioning for equal rights a half century ago. But I say this: We have made progress, and we will make more. And I want you to know that I expect and hope to be judged not by words, not by promises that I made, but by promises that my administration keeps ... We've been in office six months now. I suspect that by the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration."

Obama added that he was working with the Pentagon, as well as Congress, to end "Don't Ask Don't Tell." He called this period a "transition" toward that end but said it had to be done pragmatically, so the new policy works in the long-term.

Many gay donors dropped out of a recent Democratic National Committee fundraiser in protest of the Obama administration's legal brief defending the anti-gay Defense Of Marriage Act. Gay rights advocates are also dismayed that the president has yet to take action on the military's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy.

In an interview with MSNBC's Chuck Todd following Obama's remarks, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the president's promise to end "Don't Ask Don't Tell" would be fulfilled.

Digg!

Won't happen. He has been in for 6 months? How hard would it be to change Don't Ask Don't Tell in that time??? Even that would be enough of a step for now.

But, no... he will hold off until his second term.... so he has something to hold over everyone to GET a second term.

Look, I know he has inherited many problems, and the economy limits some of what he can do, but give us SOMETHING, dammit!
DADT would have been a good step... but we haven't got it yet.

... because the Obama administration is oh so busy with the economy, two wars, the Gitmo conundrun, etc. Fine (so to speak). But how comes, then, that these oh so busy people find the time to write a brief supporting DOMA? And how comes that Obama has not given a shred of an explanation? After 8 years of Bush thuggery and incompetence, Obama should know better than just say 'just trust me.'

how about a CURE and VACCINE

in 2002, i read a report by the british society of medicine in which it was said that for $180-200 billion, a 3-4 year crash project of the intensity of say the 1960s space program, would arrive at a cure and a vaccine for AIDS. but noooo, that money is needed for warcrimes, torturers and financial criminals by the trillions.

while my in-depth research into the suppressed and censored matter indicates that HIV was NOT deliberately developed; it was an accident of inadequate containment at merck/WHO labs in the mid-1950s... it is known that once discovered, the new-found disease was given to the us army center for the study of contagious diseases in fort detrick maryland. under an earlier name, that group had gotten its start during the administration of andrew jackson smallpox-saturated blanket campaign against the indians... though widely known, it took until 1993 for the government to release all the details on that genocide, which method it then spread throughout the hemisphere's white rulers... nice guys.

however, alaso in 1993, on the front page of the nytimes was an article which finally admitted what had long been known – that the trail of the WHO smallpox vaccine program through subsaharan africa WAS ALSO THE EXACT TRAIL OF AIDS THERE. the nytimes tamped this down by stating that this was due to "tragically but accidentally tainted serum." really? 440 communities hit by accidentally tainted serum? does that sound accidental to you?

bear in mind a memo penned by gwh bush while he was director of CIA: "the west needs africa but not the africans." so where are 3/4 of all AIDS cases but africa... gays and druggies were an afterthought in this genocide, the only word for it.

an estimated 35 million are now dying from AIDS and most by far are fromheterosexual activity, not homosexual. interesting, isn't that? the numbers are likely much larger since, for instance, russia and china, known to be hard hit, regard AIDS much as a bible-belter would, 'god's punishment for sin,' and don't report it fully. it should alaso be mentioned that in both russia and china, teams of blood/plasma gatherers who preyed on poor villagers earning a dollar a piece for giving blood or plasma for that pay, were found to be using the same needles over and over with no sterilization... would you call that 'accidentally spreading AIDS'?

really, as i just commented, the issue is a cure and vaccine, not just for gays but for africa and everywhere effected by this campaign of genocide.

gay marriage and 'don't ask, don't tell,' have always effected me as pseudo-issues. i mean who needs a marriage certificate. and as for military... anything that let's someone get out of serving 'murder, incorporated,' shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

if you're looking for serious goods from obama; don't hold your breath. mr. 'we don't stand for torture' obamabush on his second day in office declared that he was continuing the CIA 'rendition' program of disappearance and torture apace and still hasn't even closed gitmo, a basically small part of the overall picture of torture. just figure we're 'lucky' not to be getting thrown into these concentration camps...

all corrupt empires end up reliant upon mercenaries and 'rendition' is nothing other than the outsourcing of torture to a global network of usg-ally thugs. and a government like this is going to help end discrimination? dream on.

what is needed is a nation of our own, not just for gays but for all who seek sexual liberty; a place where the drug war is not constantly making a sham of the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness; where one's taxes aren't used for genocide, endless wars and police-prison state tyranny or huge handouts to financial criminals. we would soon be the country, however small, to which the brightest 'young' of all ages, the most creative beings on earth would be flocking as fast as feet could carry us. it could even turn into a global grassroots revolution to end all fascist empires forever...

that's a destiny worthy of our historical legacy - not this vapid, silly marriage and military stuff, same old same old brutal and boring crap.

kick the can down the road.

He's playing a dangerous game of politics here. He's trying hard not to piss off Republics, hoping (ridiculously!) he can pull some of them over to vote for his health care plan and his climate bill. But, at the same time, he is taking for granted the votes of those of us who supported him in November, and putting us off.

Talk about short-sighted! Our votes are not guaranteed for his re-election! He's going to wake up in November, 2012 and realize that he's a one-term president. And he can only blame himself for alienating his base in order to appease a bunch of Congressional Republic assholes that never intended to give him one vote!

IF OBAMA CONTUINUES BUSH & CHENEY CORRUPTION,MR. OBAMA YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT

Let me make this PERFECTLY CLEAR.

BUSH AND CHENEY WERE NOT POPULAR BY THE TIME THEY ENDED THEIR TERM AND THEIR GUY MCCAIN WAS DEFEATED AT THE POLLS BECAUSE THEY MESSED UP RULING THIS COUNTRY SO BADLY!

It seemed like ONLY THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX MERCENARIES AND THE BIG OIL PEOPLE BENEFITED.

THE REST OF US LOST OUR JOBS BECAUSE THESE GREEDY INCOMPETENT FOOLS WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THEIR DOMESTIC ECONOMY RESPONSIBILITIES.

THEY EVEN REWARDED THE INDUSTRIES WHO MOVED THE JOBS OVERSEAS WITH MASSIVE TAX BREAKS.
OBAMA WILL BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE TOO IF HE DOES NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE JOBS THAT HE PROMISED US>

So far, all I have seen is the PLUNDERING of our national WEALTH for Bush and Cheney's cronies.

Where did that money go in the first place?

It is being stashed so when the elites are ready to LEAVE the USA and go back to the England and the EUROPE they love so much to LIVE, they will already have something waiting for them...

And we will be fighting the Chinese and the Arabs and the other countries from whom these elites borrowed money and put US --their SERF SUBJECTS and OUR property up for collateral.

the elites in the US descended from ROYALTY in Europe and they have ALWAYS maintained the same elite ideas. DIVINE RIGHT OF KINGS and contempt for anyone not of their bloodline.

WHEN WILL WE GET A PRESIDENT WHO IS NOT ONE OF THESE ELITISTS?

DO YOUR GENEALOGY RESEARCH PEOPLE. It is right there for all to see.
