The LA Times reports that pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead soon after arriving at UCLA medical center in a coma today.

From the Times:

Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today after paramedics found him in a coma at his Bel-Air mansion, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told The Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call from the home. When they arrived, Jackson was not breathing. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda said.

Jackson was 50. Here's how we'd like to remember him:

This news reminds me of something that happened over a month ago.

I was watching (for some reason that I don't know) CNN's Headline News, when the pretty anchor lady says that North Korea has threatened nuclear war. Then she says nothing more, end of story. Then she goes, "In other news, the Octo-mom......
Wait, wait, we have breaking news. This just in. The King of Pop has arrived for a news conference. We go live as he arrives."

Meanwhile, the more intelligent people watching this are gasping and wondering aloud, "Wait. North Korea is threatening NUCLEAR WAR??? With whom?..."

So, there you have it. Michael Jackson could not only trump news of nuclear war, but he was also able to even trump news of the Octo-mom! That's amazing.

OMG, the media hadn't even finished their monotonous drivel about Farrah when they had to interrupt to bring you even more celebrity news...the pedophile is dead. All you moms and dads who care about your children can rest a little easier tonight.

Poor Farrah, I wonder if Ryan got his last piece of ass before she went out.

Poor Michael, I wonder if they will bury his nose with him.

Because he had heard they had boy's underwear half off!

It's a shame his music will be overshadowed by his fondness for fondling little boys...

See you in hell my brother! ;-)

Blame the jury for his death

If they'd done their duty to justice, instead of cut the guy a pass, he wouldn't have been acquitted and he wouldn't have been sentenced to prison either as a "first-time" offender, but he would have been remanded to the psychiatric and medical care he so desperately needed.

If they'd had the tough love to convict him as they should of, instead of joining the ranks of thousands of enablers he'd been surrounded with his entire life, he'd be alive and healthy today, and probably in remission as far as his drugs AND pedophilia was concerned.

As it happened though, he killed himself because he could no longer believe and live the lie that he was merely another 10 year old boy "fooling around" with other 10 year old boys.

And for that I blame the jury; they were his last chance at salvation from the hell of what his family abuse had made him.

In remembrance, I would just say he never MEANT to hurt anyone, and made truly wonderful and classic music in his childhood. The rest was hype, lies, born of the greed of those sycophants who climbed on him like leeches in a symbiotic relationship he encouraged.

Juries who do the wrong thing, like the MJ jury and the OJ jury, never do their idols a favor in the long run.

Sorry but MJ became a Freak after he went Solo.
Although I would love to remember him as the kid about my age on TV variety shows- Unfortunatley I will always think of him first and foremost as a Self Loathing, paranoid, Pedophilic.
It takes me a minute and some mental digging to come up with a fond memory...."ABC,123", That MJ died Decades ago.
Kinda like when family insists on keeping the casket open when their loved one dies in a car accident- that is the way you end up always remembering them. Show me clips of him on the Flip Wilson show, and I might get choked up.
Ryan O'Neil must be pissed, Farrah's Death upstaged by that Weirdo who hated being black and male.
Ironic- Farrah shows the world what she looks like at her 'worst' before she dies and MJ tries to make himself 'beautiful' to the point of becoming a hideously deformed advertisement as to why the quest for 'beauty' can not be bought at any price.
Lesson to be learned- The more plastic surgery, the more Freakish you become.Instead try working on your soul, not your looks.
Funny as a Kid I love MJ, and hated Farrah. Farrah was the 'competition' for any girl in the '70's.But I am Sadder about Farrahs passing than Jacko's.She had real Grace and style.

One look at what MJ turned into and one can see the wonderful effects of drugs! Heart condition or weakness brought about by years of abuse of perscription and/or other drugs!

This video helps as I grieve. I am surprised that I am so saddened by Michael Jackson's passing. (perhaps because I also just lost a childhood friend who is two years my junior)
Of course, I am the same age as Michael, and therefore grew up while grew up. The callousness of some is disgusting, and your upbeat video heartens me.
Thank You.

when you have money, everyone wants a piece of you. i never believed MJ was a pedophile. people saw an opportunity to make money off scandals and the first case did: 20 million. the seoond accusation was proven false. famous people are secretly hated by nut cases. have some respect. the man was a genius in music and i for one will remember him fondly. and now michael you will have peace.

Absolutely true musical and dance genius, even with the fantastic redefining of several styles that he did brilliantly, doesn't excuse pedophilia.

The popular corporate device of "pain management" killed Michael Jackson. It is a devious outpatient medical treatment that takes hundreds of lives worldwide. Opioid analgesics of which Demerol is one are poisonous narcotics that suppress the central nervous system when individual tolerance is exceeded.

If you or a loved one use these drugs, the same results await you.

he's also one of the artists responsible for driving concert prices beyond the grasp of most lower class audiences.

there was a time when minimum wage workers could afford several concerts a Summer during tour season...
it helped make life bearable.

selfish bastard helped take *that* from The People

between that & pedophilia-suspicious behaviours & tragic parenting skills
(teaching kids to hide their faces ... yeah, they'll be well-adjusted 'toy' humans)

GOOD RIDDANCE

If you had seen him live you might tone down the cruelty. I have seen hundreds of concerts in my life and even though i preferred a lot of music over MJ, i must say he had the most charisma and magic on stage of anyone i have ever seen. The David Copperfield of Pop. As to the numerous "accusations" of child molestation on this site, i must remind the accusers that he was found innocent, but above and beyond that none of us know what really did or did not occur. If you weren't there, YOU DON'T KNOW. ANYTHING you do not directly experience first hand is hearsay. But then most of what is posted on this site is ranting and raving hearsay, myself included.

Amazed, Saddened & Disgusted

I am utterly amazed at some of the comments here, at Alternet of all places.

I am saddened to see the inhumane coldness that some Americans have and am ashamed to be called a "fellow American" to these people, let alone a fellow human!

We think and say little of Government entities that kill and scar people as routinely as having breakfast. We think and say little about all of the crooked, thieving, unethical, philandering politicians that fill our media every day. We think and say very little about all of the murderous activities that our Government, AMERICA, has brought upon many nations and people ... and we DO even less about any of it. But so many people will take the time, effort and energy to say horrible things about a man, with children and a family and loved ones ... before he is even dead 24 hours.

MJ obviously had some psychiatric issues and could no more help who he was than any of us can. Most people with psychiatric disorders do not recognize the degree of their dysfunction. He needed help, but those around him were more interested in his money than in his longevity, treatment and future. Because he was different, many will assume he was guilty of everything leveled at him and yet a jury of his piers found him not guilty. He stood before the court and faced his accusers, which is more than I can say for our WAR criminals and those who recently committed the largest heist of American treasure in our history! Our priorities are SO screwed up, it is no wonder we find our empire falling rapidly.

IF this man suffered from on overdose injection of Demerol, a synthetic opiate ... given to him by a live in physician, at best the physician is criminally negligent. Opiate toxicity is evidenced by shallow breathing, a classic hallmark sign and one that those present state had occurred shortly after the injection. Opiate agonists (Narcan) are readily available for such cases and could and should have immediately been administered and 911 called. If this had been done and the arrest algorithm been followed, within 15 or so minutes, MJ would still be here.

Regardless, a life has ended prematurely and that is sad. This man changed musical culture in America and is loved the world over. Have some decency. Have some respect, if for nothing else, his children and loved ones!

RIP Michael. Your suffering and torment is now over and you are in a better place, where judgmental arses cannot torment you with their cruelty any longer.

Oh why wouldnt' someone on as many narcotics as MJ ( if true and I would imagine the arthritis he must have had bouncing on those joints for 45 years) why wouldn't they have narcon around the antidote to overdose? It is ridiculous not to. We have paddles for buger eaters but for people with legitimate pain who might accidently overdose tyring to get peace not to have this in the medicine chest is criminal.
RR

As far as 'was he a pediphile' goes, I don't think so. I mean, sure he loved kids but, the parents of these kids were money hungry and looking for a way to get it. M.J. was gulible because of his love for children.
M.J. did need to be seen by 'shrinks' though because he never had a childhood yet he couldn't grow up.
I am surprized that his father was never arrested for the abuse that those Jackson kids went through, and now he may get custody of M.J.'s kids?
As for the media..Why did I have to watch all of this M.J. stuff on all channels with just a 2 minute spot for weather during a time I usually watch the news? Wasn't there any other news?

I've noticed many on here, and that I've encountered during the past 24 hours, would seem inclined to focus on just one aspect of Michael Jackson's humanity, and use it as an arguing point why he either was just a mega-talent, or just a monster -- with a resulting spew of praise or hate following.

He was a mega-talent, "unusual" to say the least in many of his actions, and a whole lot more.

Please try to see all of his humanity, and everybody else's, when you develop your points.

The only thing sick around here is how his fans' denial will enable him to continue victimizing

The only thing sick around here is how his fans' constant and rabid denial of the obvious will enable him to continue victimizing his boy victims EVEN AFTER HIS DEATH.

Your sick need to believe in some sort of impossible Peter Pan devoid of human adult sexuality doesn't forgive any one of you for enabling the most notorious pedophile of all time to go on victimizing three generations of victims for thirty years.

WHAT ABOUT THE VICTIMS?

Anyone who thinks ten year old boys are going to come out to their peers and schoolmates, let alone the entire planet, and tell them that they "had sex with that freak" and be a freak themselves for the rest of their lives because their parents wanted money is every bit as sick as MJ was himself. No kid on earth would put himself through that IF IT WASN'T TRUE.

Just like the case of the OJ jury, just because the MJ jury did the wrong thing doesn't mean that MJ was innocent.

MJ's fans, and their incessant enabling denial, killed MJ as sure as the drugs and alcohol he took hourly TO FORGET WHAT HE TRULY WAS.

If everyone involved had done the right thing, ditched the denial and saw the truth, he MIGHT have gotten the help he needed and MIGHT have been alive today.

But no, you had to have your impossible Peter Pan.

YOU killed him. And you're STILL killing him. And his victims.

STOP IT.

OBAMA-JACKO AND THE GRILL FIRE

Isn’t it amazing? After J. Carter Obama starts trashing the treasury and America a chorus of astounded media-types are running around asking “how is all this possible”? Then the sicko peddy-o druggie-o Jack-o (who made a billion) dies at 50 and, yep, once again the astounded media-types (and fans) appear to bore us with their Oz land shock perspective.

In the real world of rational thinkers Obama had a record of strident secular socialism his entire adult life…get over it…he has only started.
Jacko had a record his entire adult life of weirdness and peddy demons…get over it. Both these two had a record long ago.
Why is there ANY shock? Are the media-types and their buds that stupid or just playing a role to attract viewers?
If it walks like a duck and quacks is the place to start these “news reports”.
Maybe its just the news world of ignore, spin and smear that has replaced whole truth in reporting to America.

Its all like driving by a house as smoke billows )seemingly from the back patio area to you)…you “think”, that “its because they grill so much”.
The next morning you read their house burned to the ground. Then you go on TV or radio to yack for hours about how astounded you are to hear this near impossible news. Give us all a break. The hollyweird moral midget kool folks have dangerous habits for years before they choose to die.
They do choose. Unhappiness is like that. Did I mention ALL politicians have voting records too?

Can the media all just be honest the next time an Obama or a Jacko situation is “news”?

Michael Jackson's Autopsy.....
Posted by: MargaretA on Jul 1, 2009 3:53 AM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Results of the Michael Jackson autopsy have thus far been inconclusive, but controversial. The first and second Michael Jackson autopsy haven't clearly identified a cause of death, and the toxicology report is going to take a few weeks before it's finished. There was a report in which the singer was said to be severely undernourished, in fact starved, and had gone almost entirely bald by the time of his death, with pills being the only content of his stomach. Dr. Conrad Murray, Jacksons’ personal physician, and others as being only rumor flatly denied it. The accuracy of the rumor over the Michael Jackson autopsy is unknown, but many would give fast cash to find out.
