New York may be the next state to embrace marriage equality for gays and lesbians.

In the Empire State, opponents of gay marriage are disorganized and poorly funded. The New York Times details several reasons why America's self-appointed moral scolds aren't mounting much of a fight on this one, among which is this delicious bit:

The state’s Roman Catholic bishops have been somewhat distracted, too, having focused their lobbying energies this session on defeating a bill that would extend the statute of limitations for victims of sexual abuse to bring civil claims, and have appeared unprepared for the battle over marriage.

Hey, there are only so many hours in the day.

And, after all, can they really be taken seriously about boys being with boys or men being with men when they have such a well-known penchant for men being with boys?

The Catholic Church - the best representation any superstition could want!

I am what is know as a Cafeteria Ctaholic which means that I sometimes disagree with my church on issues . I disagree on the abortion issue and am Pro Choice . I disagree on their stand on birth control . I am in favor of a Civil Union or whatever the state chooses to call such unions . I think that a solution would be to have the state controlling Civil unions which would be the equivalent of marriage and let relegious organizations make their own rules concerning marriage which would then be recognized by the state .

I am as outraged as anyone over the church hierarchy covering up for priests who molested
boys or anyone for that matter . I was incensed when the Pope let Cardinal Cushing flee to Rome instead of having to face the Music regarding his role in the crisis .

That being said I feel that the church was right to fight the law basically removing any time limit on suits . The reason I oppose it is that it does not treat all institutions equally . The public sector would not be covered under the bill that the church opposes . If the door is opened up it should apply to ALL whether molestered by a Priest of a Public school teacher . frankly I see trial lawyers looking for Deep Pockets

these pedophiles are EVERYWHERE the Catholic Church is.

i think wiping out the limitations specifically for this situation would be a good idea. no one has the right to say when someone abused by their priest, to them the ULTIMATE in authority, would have, should have or could have the courage to come forward.

these sick men should not be sheilded they should be strung up and anything that can be done to help bring justice to their victims is worth doing.

RIGHT NOW IN IRELAND

After a nine year investigation they are about to bring charges against countless people, males and females for abuse to children in schools and orphanages over a long period of time. This will be devestating to the church and for good reason. There is no defense for harming innocent children. ANNA

Of course the Catholic church is against pro choice they need a fresh batch of innocent children to satisfy all their Priests insatiable sexual perversions.
And if they don't have gays to point a finger at as 'deviants' any longer the stark light of condemnation may actually focus on them.
God Forbid should the Jezebels and Gays be taken away as scapegoat distractions, the world may focus on the numerous Crimes the Catholic church is still comitting.
Honest Truth if I had a young kid who got lost in the mall and had to choose between asking either a Hells Angel biker or a Priest for help- I'd Pray He'd ask the Biker.

maybe those heathen RC's will lose this case and some other poor unfortunate soul will get a chance to make the almighty RC church pay for it's sins. But for me that will never happen. Thanks Ratzenberger you POS for the cover up. I guess the dishoinest make it to the top in the RC church just like the American Government.

To those uneducated simple minded arogant dick head Gay and homo haters out there. Explain this away will ya.

You all say "Gay" is a choice. How in the hell does someone, who was homosexually diddled from age 4 to 15, have any choice in being "Gay"? 11 years of having the BLESSED PENIS, of the priest who is supposed to marry you off in the future, shoved in your mouth. Thanks to your church and your religion for making perfectly average parishioners the victims of homosexual attack! How dare you speak at all about gays or their right to marriage when you walk all over their rights by committing crimes against them.

And also explain how gay marriage is anymore disgusting or reprehensible than say a child diddling priest performing the "accepted" heterosexual ceremony. Hypocritical asswipes.

It is a pedophile attack not homosexual

Child Rape is about power and control over children. Homosexual adults DO NOT WANT CHILDREN. Please do not confuse thes two essential facts. It perpetuates the illusion that homosexuals are after kids, thus rousing fear and predjudice. Most pedophiles would identify as straight.

Praying on Children

These priests swore off sex with women, NOT children or each other. How do you think the Roman Catholic Church got away with their "no sex" pledge for so long? Simple, "pray" on children and orally "comfort" each other. With there being fewer Nuns now they seek release by praying on children. The Catholic Church is against birth control and abortion because it will diminish their stock of innocent children needed to satisfy priestly pleasures.
