At the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday night, comedian Wanda Sykes raised eyebrows with her controversial joke about Rush Limbaugh. Sykes joked that “maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.” Several media outlets began saying that Obama seemed to “like” Sykes’s joke. However, in today’s White House press briefing, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that the administration thought Sykes’s joke went too far:

I think the President — I haven’t talked specifically with him, but my guess is, Jeff — I think there are a lot of topics that are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy. I think there’s no doubt that 9/11 is part of that.

The joke wasn't about 9/11!

They want to MAKE the joke about 9/11, but it was a joke about Rush Limbaugh being a TRAITOR and his drug use!

Just more deflection from those who want to make it about how "unpatriotic the Libruls are!"

Gibbs shouldn't have fallen for that. The question was disingenuous.

WHEN DID RUSH BECOME 'OFF LIMITS'

The man makes an obscene amount of money insulting people every day. What's so funny about Michael Fox and Parkinson's disease? Some people seemed think it was a riot. When did he become an untouchable? The White House should blow-off all this criticism. No matter what anyone said they weren't going to like it anyway. A good time was had by all. That's what matters. ANNA

Wrong approach by the White House. This was a legitimate hoot...and black humor at that!!!! ;-) When you can give as well as you can take, you are on the way to full recovery. It appears there is still some mileage to go. Wanda Sykes, you go girl!!!

Where was the outrage when Dubya showed that funny little film about searching for WMD's in the Oval Office .

Please I am sure Rush can take care of himself .He has probably already dismissed Sykes with some slur combining her Sexual Orientation and Skin Color .

Repugs have maligned the tragedy far more than anyone else

Come On Rudy used 9/11 as his punch line throughout his ludicrous Primary Rule. Everytime a Repug can't twist his logic into a pretzel to get out of a debate, He/She Decries 9/11.
Yet when it helps debunk a point from the Left the Right is the first to throw the victims of 9/11 under the Bus- BECK!
It's facinating to see the Right spin on a dime, when attempting to defend their 'Fearless leaders' or discredit the new Admin. Screw the 9/11 victims and families, screw the Military, Screw the Constitution, Screw the Founders- as long as Cheney et al come out smelling like a Rose.
What does CheneyCorp have on these people to allow themselves such personal disgrace, humilation and unbidding acts of masochism?
No doubt the long time minions have some old Skeletons, But what about some recent converts. Seems a good number of 'Blue dogs' are ready to champion Cheney, previousy level headed Media types now stumbling over their tongues, and Each other, to come to his Defense.
Now we must bear in mind Cheney,Rummy and Wolfie cut their canines under the Watchful eyes of the Nixon Admin and J Edgar Hoover- the masters of Spying and Recording.
there seems to be a concerted effort from both sides to continue this irrelevant debate of the International Crime of Torture- It's out of OUR hands folks!
I've only hear Olbermann mention that Fact in passing- 'domestic, international or extraterestrial trials', But did not expound on the logic of an International Court, and Neither did Turley! don't tell me Turley is limited to Constitutional Law,but has no Concept of International law or jurisdiction!
So the Right want to hold 9/11 in some emotional timecapsule, hollowe dground mentality- then let's go back to that point and begin investigating what led up to it and Most Definitely what came after it. Since we have yet to get passed it. Yes Let's hold 9/11 Up and Under a More Revealing Light for reflection and Examination- shall we!

Hitting below the belt?

The Whitehouse, has to distance itself from the joke for POLITICS, But, I'm sure Ms. Sykes is intelligent enough to know not to take that distance personally.
The fact IS Limbo has made thousands of comments way worse than that about Obama, all Democrats, the military officers and troops who he calls (phony soldiers) who don't happen to be blood thirsty Repugs, disabled people, and more. He has SCREAMED for the DEATH PENALTY or LIFE IMPRISONMENT for drug addicts, UNTIL he BECAME one of them, then CRIED for "special treatment" for himself.
So the comment WAS FUNNY! It was a LOW BLOW and it HIT HOME because he's a hypocritical JERK. And before long the REPUGS will forget about it in favor of Obama picking on their "vaulted leader" John, "man of color" not found in the natural world, Boehner.

so now we know they can dish but they really can't take it. The bunch, of them, beck, rush, O'riley, should all be put in the same room together for one month. They have to listen to just each other. What a hoot! who do you think would still be standing. O'riley the sex monger, rush, the drug monger, beck who thinks he a book writer and a comic.... I wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall in that place...

What did you expect the White House to do, endorse her jokes? Her jokes were funny and Limbaugh deserved what he got or more. Why does the White House distancing itself from them seem shocking? The man is president, you know.

The shmocks out there that find that bloated, deviant Limbaugh funny are stupid. Maybe President Obama could find a spot for you in the government. You would be good.

The Obama folks need to grow a pair. And this is the least serious thing they've broken weak on: read about the health plan "coalition" with the crooks who have fought reform since . . . well, FOREVER!
