Quote of the day:

"I love and respect my daughter, and I appreciate the fact that she brings fresh views and ideas and we need that in our party. We don't always agree, and sometimes we have spirited discussions, and that is good in families."Senator John McCain, Republican and full-tilt asshole, distancing himself yet again from his daughter Meghan McCain, who has distinguished herself within the Republican Party for advocating against some aspects of social conservatism.

You know, it would be one thing if they were in separate parties, but they're not. Meghan is still a Republican, and a pretty traditional one at that. She'd still fund bombs and defund arts programs, just like any good conservative. There's not a whole lot of light between them, and yet John takes every opportunity to say he disagrees with her—"respects" her, but disagrees with her—because it's still more important for him to protect his career in its dwindling twilight than it is to unconditionally support his daughter in the dawn of hers.

Here's a clue, John: First of all, you don't have to agree with her. Your career has never been dependent on pandering to social conservatives, despite your obstinate belief to the contrary. But, irrespective of that insistence, you don't have to say you disagree with her, every time you're asked about her. Say: "She's awesome, isn't she? I'm so proud of her." And if you're asked directly if you agree with her, say: "Oh, who cares if we agree or not? It's just so rewarding to see my daughter blazing her own path in the old man's business."

The advice is free, you cretinous jerk.

Digg!

Megan is simply employing her father's own "Straight Talk" bullshit, establishing herself as a "Maverick" who can communicate with younger and moderate voters.

As her father has proved, this is the perfect concealment strategy for a hard right politician who wants to pretend to reason. She is probably even using his advisors.

I can't believe that she is already fooling liberals with the exact plan Daddy has always used into thinking it marks some kind of rift.

"NO!" daddy is saying, "That's young Maverick, heh heh, a little reckless. I'm the mature Maverick and can't afford to endorse her inflammatory statements. Heh."

DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN!

How many of you realize that Mr. "I hate torture," McLiar voted the party line on torture, sending it to the CIA and specifically voting against a ban of torture by the CIA?

If you know that, congratulations - you sure didn't learn it on Fox News or any other part of the MSM.

Feaux and very public moderation is the perfect cover for a hard-right politician who wants to pick up Independent votes.

Daddy taught her well.

I know the MSM is gonna fall for it, hook, line and sinker. Don't be a dope and fall for it too. She's gonna run for office, win, and vote hard right, just like Daddy. Bet on it.

Which one do you hate the most? McCain or his daughter?

He's a louse for saying that they disagree but he respects her, and she's just another Republican who funds bombs and defunds art programs.

Have I missed something?

His statement is rather kind considering his daughter is running around saying that he and his colleagues are "scared shitless". And as far as I know, she isn't an elected official and doesn't fund or defund a damned thing.

Try this crap in AlterNet's new "Too busy to think?" section. They put it up just for you.

McCain has proven he will say and do anything to fulfill his arrogant ambitions.
I'llskip over 'SongBird', and leave that to the Vets who have far better comprehension of the Regulations while being held prisoner to elaborate.
But let's consider WHY mcCain is suddenly Soft on Torture. During hi sinitail run towards the WH, he said he did not want to expound on his 'Glory Story'. yet after he changed Campaign Staff, it was the ONLY thing he ran on, until Sarah took over the spot light. Hey John ,Which NFL Team did you Name? Exactly what kind of Torture techniques did the VetCong use on you?
When his Staff had to announce 'The Candidate does not Speak for the Campaign' wasn't that indicative to the fact McCain will say anything- so they even had to debunk his statements.
McCain will say anything handed to him on his Well Devised Script- that is if he can Remember his lines. Not only did McCain prove he was a disaster when 'free Wheeling it', but also when a puppet master wasmn't available to feed him the information- Lindsay Graham. During one of the Debates he even lost track of time and Referred to AQ in their Former state 'Afghani freedom fighters'-did he forget those were the ones who attacked on 9/11? Do they still deserve to be referred to so admirably or fondly John?
If Meagan has any brains- or ethics- she will push th eRepublicans Back beyond the Time of her Fathers Generation and the Neo Cons..Back towards Ike.A time when even a Republican could get behind Civil Rights (Brown vs the Board of Ed), When All citizens Welfare and needs were paramount (Dept of Health Ed & Welfare), When investing in our Future was Worth the cost (Fed Highways). When the concern was not so much about External Enemies, but those who lurked within (Miltiary Industrial Complex).
Republicans want to give the Dems a run for our money in '12- not only reject the Bush Era- but the entire Neo Con era which infiltrated their party in the '70's- The Cheney,Rummy & Wolfie Reign of terror and Treachery. The One her Father Sold his Soul to Long ago.

"Your career has never been dependent on pandering to social conservatives"

Who has it been dependent? I'd say his various daddies like the admiral, his second daddy in law, and charles keating. Without their money and influence few would have ever heard of mccain.
