My mother, a Connecticut resident, detests Joe Lieberman's positions on just about everything related to foreign policy and can't stand the way he routinely bashes anyone to the left of ... well, himself, often on Fox News.

She wants him gone, and even though it's very, very early to look at the 2012 races, a new poll by Research 2000 for Daily Kos suggests she might just get her way ...

The poll spelled bad news for Connecticut's other senator, Joe Lieberman (I). A majority of respondents, 54 percent, have an unfavorable view of Lieberman, while 44 percent view him favorably.

In match-ups against potential 2012 challengers, Lieberman polled poorly. In a three-way race against current Gov. Jodi Rell (R) and 2006 Democratic primary challenger Ned Lamont, Lieberman drew 25 percent to Lamont's 30 and Rell's 42.

And in a match-up against Rell and Connecticut Attorney General Dick Blumenthal (D), who is considering a run, Lieberman again came in third. Lieberman again earned 25 percent in that match-up, while Blumenthal got 28 percent and Rell earned 43 percent.

There was a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points in the poll.
