The Anchorage Daily News reports that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) owes more than half a million dollars “to an Anchorage law firm that has defended her against ethics complaints, and she may create a legal fund to pay the bill.” In her written response to the ADN, Palin described the charges that have cost her so much money as “baseless” and “ridiculous”:

Still trying to portray herself as a populist, Palin said that because of the “blood sport some are playing today” in politics, it seems that only the independently wealthy or those willing to spend their income on legal fees to defend their official actions in office … can serve.”

With a past such as hers, being in politics is a foolish move that no one in their proper frame of mind would want to emulate.

That's why her daughter ended up the way she is, except she was smart enough not to marry the "Christian" man who got her pregnant.

Once again proves how hypocritical the GOP really are.

Ethics complaints are not "false" until adjudicated so, but trivial and unfounded ethics complaints, such as the use of the photograph or use of state property are matters of the rule of law, and can be dismissed without hearing. If her behavior in office is costing Palin money, it isn't about trivia.

FOIA Requests are part of our rights as citizens, as much as Palin would like to personalize them and shame us for making them. There is also a fee that can be requested for the information, or waived for good reason. Alaska's FOIA costs have nothing to do with her, and I dare say that the guilt trip about the cost to the state budget is a very smelly red herring.

When the courts entertain a lawsuit, it has merit or it is dismissed on a hearing, and when it's dismissed the plaintiff often pays the costs for wasting the court's time. Palin's whining about a lawsuit and a small-claims court claim is just that. Maybe she should mind how she behaves instead of bemoaning the aftermath.

Do Repugs always think they are able to rewrite history - even when it's less than a year old??? How much lead paint have they licked in their lifetimes? do they still keep some int heir pockets to drop like blotte acid when they start remembering the numerous crimes they have committed against the People and the Country. God Know Songbird should keep a backpack supply with him at all times- Binny's Afghani "freedom Fighter" Benefactor, Saddams anthrax Delivery Boy, Wall Streets pocket puppy. What he coming up on his 30th or 40th anniversary of intiation into the Circle of Traitors (Red Coat Army)?Cheney give you a 'Heckova Job' congrats, Johnny boy?
Sarah wasn't chosen Just because she was a Female in hopes of bringing over Hillary voters. She was nominated because she was the best example of why Americans should only elect White males to leadership positions. How many qualified Females did they have to go through before they scraped her up? Not only a horrid Public servant, but a Unfit mother. Waits 8 hours before seeking medical attention for a birth in your 40's?!?- Doesn't look like Down's to me- more like oxygen depletion related to fetal distress- Lets see his birth records- Reckless endangerment of an unborn child? I fshe is willing to endanger her own unborn child, by passing numerous Hospitals (fetal monitors) then how could she possibly be trusted to assure the safety and welfare of ANY citizens?
go Away Sarah before people start investigating the neglect and potentially the Abuse of an Unborn child. If she knew it had Down's, she knew he was already compromised and should have sought immediate attention (also her age)- Grave Indifference to Life. If she didn't know, then she didn't have an anmio, or it came out negative and thought the birth would be the same as her others- Still her age alone required considration. Either way Sarah has some 'splaining to do.

Everything that goes wrong in this woman's life is self inflicted. She is a chronic victim and seems to have lived her entire life that way. Maybe she can run a 'Telethon' and have Joe the plumber and rest of the Wasilla Alaska Illuminati man the telephones. ANNA

She can sell her designer wardrobe on Ebay to raise money to pay her legal bills. She was given a donated budget of $500,000 for clothes to wear on the VP campaign - but spent TWICE that amount, then whined the media was "mean" to her.

I'm sick of her persecution complex.

She is defensive when held up to the same scrutiny as any other politician.

like Bush - she thinks it is an insult to be held accountable.

when will her 15 minutes of fame expire?

Whether Rep. or Dem. -- they're all cut from
the same mold. Palin was a phony, as were
all those that Obama named for various govt.
posts, and all declined or were shown to be
crooks after their background checking.
No folks, we've lost all the good ones many
years ago and have to put up with second-rate
people to continue to run our country down
into the dumps.
Don't have an answer - not sure if one exists
as things stand.

She lies and gets tangled up in ethics questions. So she hires a lying liar lawyer (?)who charges her too much money for nothing and then she contemplates getting someone else (tax payers?) to foot the bill. American and Alaska are great places to live, aren't they?

For 150 Freedom of Information requests? How SLOW are things in Alaska and what are they paying these clerks who make the f**king copies? Maybe she'll use some of the state's appropriated, FEDERAL, bailout money to pay for that.

I can't stand her guts but I'd be glad to donate a box of copy paper (pristine white, of course) and a case of black out markers (you know, for all that secret stuff)just to see her beauty queen butt hung out to dry.

Give me Tina Fey any day.

In a lot of ways I feel sorry for Sarah Palin. She was just barely keeping her head above water as Governor of Alaska when McCain thrust her onto the national stage. Sure, she was a willing part of the farce, but she had no clue what she was getting into. ("Oooh, new clothes!") To me it's sad that such a below-average woman is going to be the face of females of any stripe. On the other hand, I propose a Celebrity Death Match for The World's Stupidest Hot Neo-con Diva Championship with Sarah Palin vs. Ann Coulter. The turnstiles would SPIN LIKE TOPS!

I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but all the sexist yammering about Palin's assets, etc., is offensive. The woman is brazen, cheap, stupid, immoral, unethical, opportunistic, uneducated, classless, and a host of other things. Bringing the conversation down to a suggestion that she could get out of debt if she would just show a little T & A puts all women down. I resent your post, Hurricane Hugo
