Poor Joe the Plumber Looks Lonely at His Own Book Signing

Joe the Multi-Faceted Hat-Wearer puts on his "Writin' Hat" to sign autographs last night at a Borders in DC, where "about 11 people wandered into the rows of seats set up hopefully in the basement" who he addressed "from behind a lectern and with a microphone … that seemed unnecessarily formal."

Never have I longed to be in DC so much as reading about this splendid event:

The only heat generated by Joe's appearance last night came when a young man named Jabari Zakiya recounted great moments in American racism (slavery, annihilation of Native Americans, segregation, etc.) and asked Wurzelbacher if the "hegemony" of the white man in America is "doomed" now that five states and the District of Columbia have majority minority populations.

Joe replied that he believes "our American heritage is being torn apart" by flag burners, critics of the military, and those who mock Christian values. He expressed his admiration for patriotic immigrants, and said he dislikes terms like African American and Asian American ("We're all Americans," he said). For some reason, he concluded by saying, "America has always been a kick-butt, take-names kind of country."
Wow.

The event was scheduled to last three hours, but ended after 55 minutes, with Joe having sold a total of five books.

Digg!

That the entire rethuglican agenda is one big mass deception on the people they mislead goes without saying, that they also supply mass-delusion to their closest supporters, ie, come and have a beer boy, have a cigar, you're gonna go far, is worth savoring.

This was the first item to lighten my day today, thanks!

Joe the Hypocritical Tax Reform Activist: check. Joe the Incompetent War Correspondent: check. Joe the Barely Literate Author: check.

Sorry Joe--ball team owner, oil exec, fighter pilot, cowboy, and president have already been ruined. But there are plenty of other picks out there for you. When are we going to see Joe the Timorous Warrior, Joe the Feebleminded Researcher, and Joe the God-Forsaken Prophet?

Guys, I've worked in bookstores for more years than I care to count and this is pretty much about how book-signings usually go. Unless the author is a celebrity (or a celebrity-author), even great authors rarely get more than a few people at any one time to want their book signed.

This is a really a non-story and kind of a petty one at that.

Another slab of 'Raw Meat' thrown out by Repugs

When the shit hits the fan and Repugs begin to be prosecuted for inciting violence, Ya think his Leaders will throw his ass out first for his desire to 'Shoot' politicans. I'm guessing yes.
'Joe the Plumber' is nothing more than another Patsy for the Repugs. bu the may be the only one who's gotten the rouse. Seems not too fond of Ol' Mac right now. But loves Sarah.Could he actually figured out She, he, Jindal and Steele are only Tokens to be used and disgarded at will or out of necessity when the Repugs need a scapegoat?
Seems to me the Repugs pick the least capable of the minorities on purpose.Sarah, Jindal nor Steele seem to have any politcal Savvy and Joes the worst example of your average 'working stiff',Not plumber, not a small biz owner, and apparently not a taxpayer. Why choose a Female running mate already under investigation for abuse of power? why pick the Gov that failed to do his duty as Gov during a state crisis, to respond to a Congressional Address. Why pick a RNC who is unable clearly stae his position- how many times does Steel need to come back to Clarify what he meant?
I consider thes Folks the 'Raw meat' the repugs are thowing out so they can make their Escape, or at least divert the publics attention away from what they have been (are) up to.God Knows the Repugs love to use smoke & Mirrors when they are working on 'covert' agendas.

His rise to fame is one of the more Alice in Wonderland moments in American political history.

plumbers doing anything other than cleaning old used tampons and steamers that are too big to flush is just wrong...yes I know some kewl plumbers, but I sure aint gonna let them pet my dog....I know a plumber and he makes pies for school events like the xmas party and the thanksgiving party...nice guy I like to laugh at and laugh with....he makes these very nice looking pies and at the end of each pot-luck he takes home all that he brought....I know I am a doodeephobe, but I didn't know everyone else around me was 2....just the thought of a lil poo under the nails at any given time is enuff to make me not wanna grab a free $100 bill outta a plumbers turd pullin fingers, and especially not eat a pie with sliced apples that were carved by fingers dirtier than those little kids fingers that hang out late at night with sally struthers.....it is not just the fact that he is named joe wich makes me think of camel cigs and then lung cancer and then yellow fingers and then doodee fingernails covered with yeller nicotine stains ....I have to dig a lil deeper into my twisted mind and I see that this guy is a drain cleaner...if he is gonna write a book the book should be about shit stories and other crap that a plumber goes through...(like the time that toilet broke but noone stopped using it and when plumber boy went to plunging all the poo down the toilet a lil drop of water splashed up and went into his pie hole and was tasted by his wife when she gave him a welcome home kiss and she said he tasted like shit and he told her he tasted like money and then they both luaghed and kissed more and went off and tried to make another lil web footed son...without taking a sanitizin shower)....the reason plumber joe's books sell like shit is cuz they prolly smell like shit, they prolly taste, look and feel like shit and read like shit, but they are not about shit...that is all that a plumber should be writing about...I have heard the saying 'he don't know shit'...but never ever about a plumber...they are experts when it comes to this.....maybe if joe goes and writes a book about the exploits of turd hunting I will go to the signing (of course I will give him latex gloves to use when handlin my book)...until then I will just have to believe that joe is a shit poser with dirty nails....and shitty stories that he won't share....

Joe; go back to plumbing. Oh, wait, you can't; you didn't bother to get a license! It's a good thing you don't live in my state; here they fine and/or jail people for contracting without a license.

However, I'm not sure what the penalty is here for impersonating an important person.

First off, why are we giving notice to Joe the Plumber? We're only giving him (and republicans) more power by even acknowledging these people.

But what I find the most sad about this is that we are not only giving people like this attention, but that we are pointing and laughing at him. Bush has been the bully for the past eight years. Our country has become more fragmented, more polarized, and pretty much a really shitty place to live at times. Now we are becoming the bully. As politically concerned citizens and as a nation as a whole, this will get us no where. Unless some group starts taking the high road, we're doomed to constant bickering and fighting over things that just don't matter.

I almost feel sorry for "Joe the Plumber". He is obviously desperate for fame and glory but he just can't figure out how to get it. He became a hero to wingnuts when he "challenged" Obama who was campaigning in his State and has been desperately trying to milk his 15 minutes of fame ever since. His problem is that he is a total idiot and screws up everything he tries
to do. (Sort of like Bush actually.) He has tried to be a commentator, war correspondent and now an author. (He has also said he wants to run for office.) Hopefully it will begin to dawn on him that no one gives a crap about his opinions and he will quietly fade into oblivion. But unfortunately I think his ego is too big to do that. Heck he'll probably end up on some 3rd rate reality show.

Joe The Plumber was used by the McCain Campaign
as a possible strategy to gain momentum.

This failed to work, however, and resulted in a historical election.

The Republicans tossed Joe The Plumber aside.

John McCain has gone back to his wealth
and his Senatorial Seat as if nothing happened.

Sarah Palin has returned to reside over the
wilderness (and citizens) of Alaska, dreaming
of more creative ways to kill wildlife.

Joe The Plumber, meanwhile, is making book signing
appearances in dingy locations possibly gaining
attention because of his proximity to the restroom.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but in some places (like here in West Virginia where I live), using a person's middle name is something of a cultural phenomenon. I know at least 15 people who use their middle names instead of first names. There's a John Timothy who goes by "Tim," Charles Douglas who is called "Doug," Charles William - "Bill," Adrianna Paige who has always been called "Paige." The list goes on and on. In fact, I work in an office with about 10 employees. Over the years, I've worked with three people who used their middle names and one who had a son, two grandchildren, and a greatgrandchild who did so. I used to think this custom was used by people who were named after a parent, but this is most often not the case.

In never encountered this when I lived in Pennsylvania, but it was something both my ex-husband and I found to be almost the norm when we moved here.

Joe the Plumber is probably from somewhere where this is more common than other places. He's a goof, but I imagine he really is called "Joe," and considers it to be his name.

Joe was just your standard talk-radio informed redneck moron. All of them have their pathetically ill-informed "gotcha" question and, most times, an intelligent person can shove that "gotcha" right back up the redneck's ass. Joe took his swing with his weak "gotcha" moment. Joe had his "gotcha" power-stuffed up his stupid ass daily since he opened his mouth and drew attention to himself. He was nobody then and he's nobody now. What kind of idiot writes a book to market to rednecks when we all know that rednecks can't read (that's why they have the radio)!

A good game for the intellectually deficient: Take the picture of Joe's book signing, above, and play a rousing game of "Where's Joe?" ala "Where's Waldo?" Hint, Joe is sitting in a chair.

Meanwhile, back at CPAC this past weekend, Rush Limbaugh gave the keynote address and is being widely hailed as the new voice, if not the new head, of the Republican Party. I can't imagine that somebody won't draft him to run for Congress or even President (he already was made Honorary Member of Congress in the mid-1990's in gratitude for his help in getting public support for Newt's Republican Revolution). I have no idea what percentage is involved here, but it's clear that there are a big bunch of Republicans who don't have a clue of there being any possible difference between a professional propagandist and a professional politician. Or a PR dupe like Joe the Plumber and a professional politician. They respond to jeering, sneering, exaggeration, ridicule, and showmanship in a speaker---think: Sarah Palin. The purpose of this article seems to be to make liberals feel good by making fun of J the P. This is the psychology we see on right-wing websites---grow your own side's support by making fun of the other side (eg "A mayor is like a community organizer only has to do actual work"). We liberals are smart. We can do better than that.

Apparently not.

First, his name isn't Joe.

Next, he's not a plumber.

3rd, 4th, 5th...up to whateverth: He has zero credibilty, as a political spokesman, as a working man.

He's Sarah Palin with less hair.

Book signing? This guy is not, and has not been a very articulate person. He went off to Gaza and pretended to be a news reporter. He pretended to be a plumber. He pretended to be political strategist; and now, he is pretending to be an author. WHO WROTE THE DARN THING FOR HIM? It surely wasn't HIM! And now, he signs a couple books at a time which spews his ideological idiocies. What is next for Joe the Plumber--Hollywood?

Maybe Alternet can show the way and STOP carrying Joe the Idiot stories. How about it Alternet? Can you take the high ground and let Joe crawl back under the rock he was pulled from?

Please read the current Conservative mindset..
"The End of a Long & Wonderful Ride" by Don Cobb on RenewAmerica.
What a truly "sinful" piece of writing and a look into CPAC mentality.

Taylor Marsh at Huffington on 3/1/09.."Rush's Ramblings @ CPAC"
"It was a rambling, sometimes incoherent, self indulgent mess".
What a scary scary tribe of so-called human beings!! Please God, don't put them on my path.

Joe The Dummer is not the only "American"

One cannot immagine how proud I was to be introduced to President General Eisenhower as a shining member of the "Goldwater Youth" in 1964. Ike patted me on the back and thanked me for the good work.
He, Goldwater and the old time Republicans were true conservitives, which is to live a good life, not spend what you don't have and let everyone pursure their dreams unintreupted by church or government. Then the Grand Old Party was hijacked by the Neo-Cons.
Nee jerk idiots like this became media darlings by the news whores, (who by the way have whipped all of us into a paranoid bunch of sheep).

It it refreshing that many citizens of the USA are starting to wake up from the neo-con nightmare started by that fraud Ronnie Ray Gun. I was overjoyed to read this fool Hoe has been shunned and kicked to the curb. Sold only five books? Hmmm? Maybe he should donate a copy to the Bush Jr. library it would then double it's holdings in a single jesture. A big plus is his book hasn't been colored in yet.
Hasn't anyone pointed out to him that Americans reside in North, South and Central America. But of course Joe has never seen a map of the planet.

How long will it be before "Joe" the un-licensed and evidently unemployed "plumber" collects his first unemployment check (if he hasn't already exhausted them, that is)?

Better yet, I'd like to know what "Joe" intends to spend the refund he gets even though he probably will pay no taxes...Last I heard, the GOP was railing against this particular welfare program.

Especially since I just left a comment. But I'm guessing that at least one or two of those five books were purchased as a gag.

I bought one of the Bush "Top Gun" dolls when they came out after his little landing on the aircraft carrier for a gag gift exchange that Xmas.

It was a big hit.

With nowhere to grovel but up, in search of undeserving scraps of generosity, Joe the Lackey persists inexplicably in the feckless minds of McCain Republicans who wish he would just once-and-for-all evaporate away. The poor kowtowing sap doesn't even care that he is humiliating himself for mere dollars. Why do seemingly intelligent people continue to enable this fool?

I checked out the book on Amazon. It is #26,664 in books. Apparently he is not doing any better in on-line sales than he did at Borders. The average rating of the book is only 2 and a half stars. The reviews are almost completely 5 stars(19) or 1 star (37).

I wonder what Joe will try next.

banks, etc. and I hope Joe gets his share.

You stand for nothing, you blow hot air, you blow rhetoric -- and you would NOT be willing to die in defense of 'rhetoric' now would you?
