Code Pink Women For Peace will be traveling to Gaza on March 6. The purpose of their mission is to provide "humanitarian and emotional support to women and women's organizations and exert pressure on U.S., Egyptian and Israeli governments to lift the blockade and promote peace and human rights in the region."

In advance of its trip, Code Pink has created a petition that asks signers to write to George Mitchell, President Barack Obama's special envoy to the Middle East, to request that he meet with the women of Gaza. As an American Jew who opposes Israel's inhumane treatment of Palestinians, I answered Code Pink's call, signed the petition, and wrote a letter to Mr. Mitchell.

The letter that follows is my personal statement to Mr. Mitchell and not the statement of Code Pink.

Dear Mr. Mitchell,
American corporate media and special-interest groups who favor Israel have hidden the suffering of Palestinians from the American public for far too long. But now, thanks to valiant journalists and a new global media that disseminates truth not controlled by America and Israel, AIPAC, Christian Zionists and myopic U.S. Jews, more Americans are learning the truth about Israel's brutality toward the Palestinians.
More Americans are realizing every day that tens of billions of their hard-earned dollars are being awarded to a nation whose primary intent is to exterminate the Palestinians and enjoy sole domain over a historically shared land.

As an American Jew, I'm deeply ashamed of Israel. I've even signed a petition to renounce my Right of Return. I hold no allegiance to a nation that engages in ethnic cleansing or to a people who commit the same horrors upon innocents that were once committed upon them.

Has Israel no shame? Has America no shame?! And you, sir? Will you be so moved by the shame of this perversion to use your newly acquired power to end it?

Please understand, Mr. Mitchell, that I acknowledge Israelis have also suffered in this debacle. But in comparison, the Palestinians have suffered and continue to suffer decidedly and horribly more.

If the United States doesn't intervene soon on behalf of the Palestinians, they face potential extinction.

Hopefully, in light of the forthcoming change in Israeli leadership and the recent change in ours, this is the optimal time to push for a new humane agenda.

I implore you, Mr. Mitchell, to meet with the women of Gaza. I implore you to go to Gaza and use your honored presidential appointment, your humanity and your gifts of diplomacy to save and protect Palestinians from further annihilation.

Defer our tax dollars from the perpetrator, Israel, to the Palestinians and provide them the necessities for living that Israel systematically denies.

Former President Jimmy Carter, who I believe is America's greatest living statesman, has publicly proclaimed his faith in you as a diplomat and a man of honor. Please, Mr. Mitchell, prove President Carter correct. Be that man of honor and end America's support of this genocide.

If you truly possess the wisdom and humanity that President Carter claims, then please visit Gaza. Please visit the West Bank. Please speak with the women and children. See the checkpoints. See the lack of sanitation. See the water system in disrepair. See the rubble. Visit the graves. Observe and comfort the wounded. Witness the brutality the Palestinians endure -- AND END IT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! The time has long since come!

Salam. Shalom.

I wish to thank Linda for her most sincere letter to Mr. Mitchell and President Obama. Her letter expressed the true thoughts and feelings of millions of Americans.... many, who were responsible for Obama's Presidental success. Israel must be stopped in their act of genocide against the Palestinians. Thank you Linda... and the rest of the World thanks you. Now Mr. Mitchell, please absorb that which was written... and react with humane authority. The People of the World are Watching....

Thank you for being a Jew who realizes the truth of what has been going on for so long. Your letter was well written and speaks to the heart.

If only more American Jews would stand up the way you have, perhaps America's support of this injustice would end. Israel is not making itself safer by its actions, but are instead fueling yet more extremism. And Israel's actions should be seen for the extremist acts of State terrorism they are.

It's hard to understand how a people who suffered under the same kind of State terrorism and attempted genocide could turn around and do the same to another people. Israel is like the child who is beaten by his parents and grows up to beat his own family...
It's hard to understand. Most people are not even aware of Israel's occupation of Palestine, and therefore see Palestinian resistance without proper context.

It's also important to point out that the people are not their government..especially children, which make up the bulk of those the IDF slaughtered, while only strengthening support for Hamas. The same is true of Israelis..although the majority of Israelis have supported its government's actions, there are many who oppose what their government is doing...Their voices are just not allowed to be heard by other Israelis or Americans to the extent that both countries can prevent it through control of the mainstream media.

Now for once let’s have a little reality for a change.

Now for once let’s have a little reality for a change.

FIRST, The Gazan’s brought on their own misery and are totally responsible for all that occurred. They should NOT expect to continue to launch rocket and mortar attacks on their neighbor and landlord Israel, and expect Israel to just sit there and take it. As Edith Broida, of Palm Beach Gardens said in The Palm Beach Post of January 16,2009, page 14A, “Without question, Israel’s incursions into Gaza is distressing; yet, ‘The Post headline “Rage in Muslim nations intensifies,” (Jan 5 issue) reminds us that there should have been equal rage against Hamas’ continuous rocket attacks against Israel. One can only imagine the response in London, Paris or Los Angeles if rockets attacks were daily occurrences.

As for civilian casualties, note how we are able to ignore the … One can only wonder wh7y world peace is a futile concept. There should be universal rage that this has proven to be the impossible dream in the still-new 21st century.”

SECOND, Now a question, why can you NOT deal in a mature way with factual information?

You should read my article,

"Who Are The Wrongful Occupiers In Palestine? A Short Look At History"

Which can be found at:

Under sub-topic, 'WELCOME AND ANOUNCEMENT :: LAND TITLE SUMMARY'

Also, read,

"Sponsors of Unprovoked Attacks and Criminal Acts Responsible For All That Occurs"

Which can be found at:

Under sub-topic, 'RELIGION - VARIOUS :: ISLAM THE SOURCE OF MOST VIOLENCE"

You can also PM me on this forum if you find any factual errors or if you wish to intelligently discuss in a mature way.

Mitchell should have gone to Turkey and Gaza on his last trip

Obama went swimming in the Hawaiian surf while Israel slaughtered Palestinian women and children, and non-combatant men, in Gaza. Mitchell cancelled his visit to Turkey because the prime minister of Turkey had the gall to take offense that the president of Israel would get 25 minutes to speak at a symposium, while the PM of Turkey only got 12 minutes.

I think that's the whole idea...
