Officials: Caroline Kennedy Will Be Paterson's Choice

The AP reports that officials are saying Caroline Kennedy will be New York's next senator:

Officials say the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy will be the governor's choice to fill the New York Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Two people close to Gov. David Paterson tell The Associated Press they believe Caroline Kennedy will be his choice, but the governor cautions he's still looking.

On Thursday, the governor disputed reports that he would hire a "caretaker" to keep the seat warm until the 2010 election.

Speaking to reporters at the Executive Mansion Thursday, Paterson said he intends to select someone with long-term interest in the job, not someone who would simply hold the seat until a special election next year.

Picking a caretaker, he said "would cause New York to lose seniority. And in the United States Senate, the most effective senators are the ones who have seniority. So I'm hoping the person I select wins the primary."

Digg!

SOUNDS LIKE A JOB INTERVIEW

You know for sure that you'll get hired but the mandatory dance begins. "We have other candidates to meet with before we make a decision". On a regular job it's usually to discourage discussing compensation. But this is different. Hire the woman! She's just fine for the job. She certainly won't try to sell the Senate seat. She doesn't need the money. For that same reason she's probably honest. Thanks, ANNA

Yes, some in the beginning wanted the United States of America to be a Monarchy and not a Republic. This hope has survived throughout history and with the coronation of the daughter of the worst president the US ever had (This was stated by his good personal friend Gore Vidal.) the idea continues.

Lesson to all other Democrats, in this case, no matter how much you work, no matter how much you devote to your political work, no how much you are devoted to your party, no how much you have shown your ability to demonstrate accomplishemnts, no matter the inbalance in representation of various classes, colors, orientations, etc. of people, the Elite and Dynastic rule in the end.

PS Obama is not an exception and is following the orders and this was helped along with his attendance of the Bilderberg Conference.

He's covered more square footage of the state than any others, who better to represent it?

He's got a keen mind and w/it I hope more humility.
We need Old School, desperately.

We don't need someone who uses "you know" as commas.

The choice of Caroline Kennedy is entirely due to her name since she has never held any public office and has even failed to vote in several elections.

I'm just wondering what is so dad-gummed different between Blago trying to auction off the Senate seat in Illinois and Paterson pandering to name recognition in New York?

There are many other more qualified candidates for Clinton's vacated seat but a "Kennedy" brings a real "wow factor" to the appointment, something perhaps not obviously measurable in dollars and cents but a calculated move all the same and one which does not necessarily serve the public.
