Palin Recycles Old Stump Speech in Georgia, Pisses Off Alaskans

Posted by Ali Frick, Think Progress at 2:12 PM on December 1, 2008.

Yesterday, Palin's home-state newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, sharply criticized her for campaigning for Chambliss.

Today, Gov. Sarah Palin traveled to Georgia to campaign for Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R), who faces a tough runoff election tomorrow against Democratic challenger Jim Martin. In the first of four stops today, in Augusta, Palin told the crowd, "The eyes of the nation are on you," adding, "The stakes are so high" and that "America is counting on you."

Yet despite Palin's insistence on the importance of the Chambliss race, she apparently couldn't bring herself to write a new stump speech. Instead, she recycled many of her favorite lines from this fall, substituting Chambliss' name for Sen. John McCain's:

Palin On Washington:

On CHAMBLISS: Too many politicians forgetting why they were sent to Washington. Well, Saxby has not forgotten and he has not forgotten who it is that he is serving. He is serving you, residents of Georgia, and he is serving all of America. He knows we must put government back on your side.

On McCAIN: In Alaska, we went back to basics. We put government back on the side of the people, and John and I will use the same approach to reform Washington in our administration. We will never forget the people who hired us. We will be there to work for you, the good people of America.

Palin On Government Working:

On CHAMBLISS: He knows you do not have to feel you are working for your government, but your government must be working for you.

On McCAIN: John and I...we don't think you should be working for government; we think government should work for you.

Palin On Independence:

On CHAMBLISS: Saxby has not forgotten why he was sent to Washington. He has stayed true to his principles. Today those principles are needed more than ever. Senator Chambliss, he has such a strong, independent spirit. And that's another reason I really like him.

On McCAIN: John McCain and I, what we represent is that maverick independent spirit that will not let the self-dealing and excessive partisanship get in the way of what's right.

Palin On Herds:

On CHAMBLISS: Saxby doesn't just run with the Washington herd.

On McCAIN: John is his own man. He doesn't run with the Washington herd.

Yesterday, Palin's home-state newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, sharply criticized her for campaigning for Chambliss, citing Chambliss' dirty campaign tactics against renowned war hero Max Cleland in 2002. "As a justifiably proud military mom, she might ask herself why she is using her conservative star power to support such a reprehensible Republican chicken hawk," the editorial said.

Digg!

Don't Underestimate Her

Palin is clearly a hypocrite, a buffoon, an ignoramus, corrupt, out of touch, and desirous of imposing her personal far-right views on others (if not always herself and her family). For exactly these reasons she is abhorred by the left and adored by the right. She's a heroine to those addicted to the heroin of the masses--fundamentalism and jingoism.

We dismiss her threat at our peril, as we once dismissed that of George W Bush.

Sarah Palin is of the same ilk as Chambliss.

This is a woman who is a traitor to this nation and it is overlooked because she lives north of the 54'40?

She incited violent behaviours at her hate rallies and was never held accountable. Her tactics were the same that were used in Germany prior to the beginning of WW2, and she is adored for this?

Is America still so blind after 8 years of a near fascist regime? If so, there is no hope!

Not even in Arkansas! or the new administration.

Chambliss is so slimy he does not need lard to slick his hair. Sarah Palin might have a tub of bear grease for him to slither his way back into the chambers.

And she is no military mom. She may have a son in the military but she is no military mom. She is a secessionist. That is not how you support our Constitution and the men who have, are and will die to keep us free.

(steps down off of soap box)!

Cheers.

Hoping Palin is the 'new' face of the Repug party

2012 will be a cake walk regardless of which asshole they pick to run, But Sarah will be a the noose that finally hangs the Repugs for decades to come.
She's not only Inept, she is such an 'end of Dayer' that even Christians will be running away from the party.
The Religious Right is dwindling because their attempt to veil themselves in Christianity has been revealed. REAL Christians KNOW that there are far more important works to be done in regards to War, famine, Poverty ,disease, global warming and have become disgusted with th eextremeists obsession with Gay Marriage and Abortion. Not to mention most Christians NEVER assume God's Plans, ie End of Days- that is not only far above their pay scale, it's blashpemous (" Only the Father Knows").
Actually I know Pres Elect Obama will do a great job so any Repug opponent will Not win in '12, But to see a Landslide by defeating Sarah may be just the Push we need to send these Religous Fanatics back to their churches and Out of the Public Square once & for all! Ya know finally returning to the crazy American Value of Separation between Church & State!

her state career survives. According to the Alaskan newspapers, Palin has not stepped foot in the capital since the end of the campaign three weeks ago. She no doubt believes that she is beyond this small populated state and should be moving on to bigger and better things! Go figure.

Saxby Chambliss

Saxby Chambliss is only one of the carbuncles on the tail of the state of Georgia. He is heavily financed by the merchants of death and corrupt business. He is a liar and a cheat. It is embarrassing to me, as a resident of Georgia, that he managed to steal his way into public office, so defaming so fine an indivdual as Max Cleland, who honestly DID serve the state and nation well in many offices.I am going out to cast my vote this morning, with a prayer in my heart that the Diebold machines I vote on count my vote properly. I will be voting for Jim Martin. Frankly, even though Martin seems to be a decent man, I would vote for Donald Duck as opposed to Chambliss were Donald on the ballot instead of Martin. Nearly anyone would be a better choice to represent this state and the nation in Washington D.C. than Chambliss.

Plucked out of nowhere as a "cheap political trick"..Seduced by the attention and celebrity...
She seemingly is not as focused on her family which clearly needs the full-time attention of both parents...easily manipulated that she can be led anywhere, including Georgia...I hope that she regains what made her a decent small state governor...I hope that we do not hear from her for a long time to come...Surely there are more qualified leaders within the Republican Party...If she is the best that they have, say hello to at least 8 years of uncontested Democrat rule

Ignore stories on this terrible person. And don't post comments in discussion forums. But you are because you like to. She is funny and it feels good making fun of her. She's a rightwing nut. George W. Bush in drag. (Sadly some of it is classism and many don't even notice it. She isn't black or hispanic and so it's open season on this turkey. It's true but don't get your PC underwear in a not.)

MY NEW YEAR'S WISH FOR SARAH PALIN

She's led a very sheltered life. The obedient daughter. The servant for the oil guys. She has shed the "small town gal" act and seems to like life in the limelight. It's just a matter of time before she's flattered right into the sack with some guy because she has never had this much attention. So she'll screw up, get all apologetic and religious and go back to Alaska. Who's minding the store up there anyway? Making all those executive decisions. Something has to make her go away. She brings out the worst in people and I find her scary. Thanks, ANNA

Ignorance of the US Constitution

You failed to mention that she also displayed her continued ignorance of the US Constitution by arguing that Chambliss should be re-elected to support Checks and Balances.
This person continues to show that she could not get a passing grade in a high school class on the US government. Checks and Balances refers to the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, not the partisan political parties involved in the Georgia runoff election.
No need for the personal attacks.
Just the facts.
This Governor is ignorant when it comes to the US Constitution and has proven it publicly.
Obama taught Constitutional law and will take an oath to defend the Constitution as President.
Good thing he's President-elect and not some retired military fighter pilot/prisoner of war with an ignorant former beauty pageant contestant as Vice President-elect.

Saxby Chambliss/Saxby Shameless

Saxby Shameless does not run with the herd? Excuse me, but as a Georgian, I have never seen him do anything but support George W. Bush on every issue. I have emailed him on numerous issues over the years and his responses (and to his credit, he does respond) are always, word for word, those of Bush. He is not maverick. He is a sheep. And he ran a horrendous campaign against Jim Martin, just as he did against Max Cleland. He truly is shameless.

Maybe the good people of Alaska will have had enough of her by then and send HER packing; then she'll only have TODD!! to boss around.

And if she runs for federal office (Senate, President ... Ambassador to Andy Gump ... ), who will stump for her? Karl Rove?

I predict that a new word will enter the language pretty soon. It'll be used on those occasions when you're sated, glutted, gorged, groaning, bloated, stuffed to the gills.

"Another slice of Cool Whip-mayonnaise-sardine pie?"

"Uh, no, thanks. I'm, like, totally Palined." (Urp!)

There just aren't enough hootin', inbred morons, in Georgia or anywhere else to make that much of a difference in any election. As for her heading up a rethug presidential ticket in 2012, forget that too; it ain't gonna happen. Even the neocons know a loser when they see one. It just took a while, that's all.
