Doh! George and Laura Bush Send Out Christmas-Themed Hanukkah Invitations

Posted by Ryan Powers, Think Progress at 6:07 AM on November 27, 2008.

Um ... you probably shouldn't put a Christmas tree on the front of your Hanukkah invitations.

President and First Lady Bush recently sent Jewish community leaders invitations to a Hanukkah reception at the White House next month. But as the New York Post reports, the invitations "raised more than a few eyebrows" because the image on them was that of a "Clydesdale horse hauling a Christmas fir along the snow-dappled drive to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave":

One Jewish community leader from Brooklyn quipped, "It's obvious what's going on here: The Christmas tree is being taken out of the White House and the menorah is being brought in the back." The first lady's spokesperson explained, "It is something that just slipped through the cracks."

This was likely intentional.
Well, it isn't like the Bush's have much respect for Jews, let alone any other non-Christian religions (except satan-worshipers, perhaps).
(They only have respect for Israel, not for Jews).

But you should see the cards they gave out to their ATHEIST friends!...
(Actually, they have NO atheist friends. So this wasn't really an issue. But, as an agnostic/atheist, I sure would like to get one of those "Christ has died for all our sins" cards they surely wanted to send to people like me ON PURPOSE to let us know we will all suffer an eternity in Hell if we don't convert to the religion that allegedly guides George W Bush's life and presidency. Happy holidays, merry Christmas, burn in Hell.)

as he and his fellow born-again Christians (followers who believe in Jesus) need them to be in place when the rapture occurs. If jews aren't in place then the hour of trial will not happen and God will not take the believers away to heaven.

Christians "love" for the Jews is sort of like a Kodiak bear's love of salmon...the fish supply the necessary nutrients to keep the bear alive. The bear loves the fish for making the ultimate sacrifice for his continued existence.

The scriptures say that followers of Jesus will be removed to safety while those still on the Earth (read Jews) will face the tribulation period (not the place to be, if you have noted what the wrath of God is like...he can be a real stinker when pissed off): Revelation 3:10 - " Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth." Let's face it the Christian "love" for Jews is very self-serving.

I doubt that Bush is smart enough to figure this out though.

Recognize the Mistake? Bush?

Anyone can make a mistake. The true manifestation of a person's essence is how he manages himself after a mistake is made. Bush has never learned how to manage (or even admit to) a mistake. (Remember his second campaign when asked what mistakes he might have made?)

Okay, the card was a mistake. What has Bush (either of them) done as a result? Would an apology be that difficult? Couldn't they send out another more appropriate card? Or will they go on as if no problem happened on their watch?

By the way, I wonder if Bush will shake hands with any of the Jews that come to his affair?

Here in Texas, some Jewish People have Chanukkah Bushes!

When you consider how friendly Prescott Bush was with Adolf Hitler, they should be glad they aren't using us as Christmass Candles! and celebrating Kristallnacht: The Sequel at that place!

Seriously, I am Jewish and I am NOT offended by the sight of a Christmas tree, Because the presents that are underneath it probably were bought at some of my relatives' thriving retail businesses!

And here in Texas, which is where Laura Bush grew up, the Reform Jews have a tradition of the Chanukkah Bush to counteract the Christmas tree which many Jews believe to be of Pagan origins... This Chanukkah Bush has to do with the Burning Bush from which the word of G*d spoke to Moses and told him to go to Egypt to get the Pharoah to LET OUR PEOPLE GO! And it ties in very nicely with the Maccabbees who threw the Greeks out of the Temple and after they kashered the premises, they looked for kosher oil to burn and find the oil that was supposed to burn only for one day but made it through eight instead!
SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS: FROM HITLER TO THE EGYPTIAN PHAROAH TO THE GREEKS and everybody in between who hated us, WE STILL SURVIVE, So what is a minor faux paux with a Christmas Tree Card for goodness sakes? My family of retailers sing every year,"What a friend we have in Jesus!" (WE know it is really Mithras birthday they are celebrating but why hurt sales?)

But again--we knew that. Perhaps the symbolism of the tree is to force-feed Jews Shrub's version of Christianity--the murderous kind.
