Lone liberal, sorta, Alan Colmes steps down as co-host. You may know him as Hannity's punching bag sidekick on the usually wrong Hannity and Colmes Variety Hour.

Alan Colmes will relinquish his role as co-host of Hannity & Colmes at the end of the year.

In announcing his decision, Colmes said, "I approached Bill Shine (FNC's Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network. Although it's bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, I'm proud that both Sean (Hannity) and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years."

Colmes will continue his relationship with Fox as a liberal commentator on other Fox News shows and a possible solo weekend show.

I have endless questions.

Will Hannity go solo or find another "liberal" so Fox can continue to use its signature "fair and balanced" catchphrase? Who will keep Dick Morris in check? HA! And poor Ann. Who will act as a buffer between her and Hannity? Googly eyes and endless nods of agreement are not the same without a token liberal as balance.

My guess is that the new and improved Hannity Hour of Divisive Speculation will be just like his monotonous radio show.

Digg!

It's so obvious that the homely Colmes was chosen as the "liberal" as a sort of balance to the Right Wing Hannity. On television people more than likely will identify with good looking people. So even centrists likely like the handsome Hannity more than the plain-looking Colmes just because he looks better. The fact that Hannity is wrong nearly 100% of the time doesn't seem to matter. The entire concept was a cynical ploy by Fox when they first went on the air to make it appear that they gave equal airing to all political opinions. Colmes will never be given the recognition he deserves as long as he stays at Fox.

When I learned that the lone liberal was leaving Hannity I thought 'good,' perhaps if allowed to pursue another avenue away from the " mic hog" we might see some boldness not allowed on that "variety show" by Hannity or the Network itself.Hey, I do give everyone the opportunity to move on & "show their stuff.''Never mind he was there for 12 years enduring I would think an unimaginable amount of abuse. I Would have lost my mind working in that environment. But was it abuse? Colmes is still with FOX . WHY Alan are you hanging around with such an odd sort of right-wingers? Is it because you have an odd attachment with with the "Faux Crowd ."I never felt YOU interjected much liberal thought except as a faux liberal. Now is to get in the trenches at Fox?????WHY???? The pessimist in me ,if I should even be giving time to care ,is MAYBE Alan you some ideas as to promote FOX as a viable news network.I have seen a growing lack of interest by viewers in the same old same old pandering, whining, distorting, & blaming liberals for everything. I find more & more liberals shrugging off the Fox bait to us,to find other discriptive terms for our political convictions. Seems there is real pride in stating yes I am liberal & oh by the way, your conservtivism is losing tractions more & more. You now run to slap us w/new labels like socialists or as vICE-PRESIDENT elect Joe Biden was asked in an interview in Fla. about Obama being a MARXIST. These labels aren't working like they used to. Many Americans are seeing RED When these pejoratives are tossed about. To many, Marxist means nothing.Old failed ecomomic philosophy. socialism which are embedded in our democracy .Lord knows those watching foreclosures tear away their hopes & dreams ,send their jobs out of country, allow so little regulation that greed was encourged by those at the top now waltzing to Washington with their greedy hands of mismanagement held out looking for ''A HANDOUT'',get something for nothing, needing assurance they will keep their financially FAT incomes. People are connecting the dots finally seeing the conservatives have been more than happy to adhere to corporate welfare...AND corporate socialism while blaming & shunning the American people linking this to liberalism . Fox is losing it's magic touch of "FAIR & BALANCED.''like it was ever there! And FEAR?Yes,there is fear....at Fox. Alan? HAVE YOU BEEN FOXED?I can't imagine why you're still there unless they "think" you can Benedict Arnold the liberals . Of course politics is far more complicated. Already criticism from the left? This is new? Dialogue .The Obama Administration is not in office. And many times I have the same faces in different scenarios.Constructive criticism is part of our free speech. I KNOW that & Know new combos of known people often function differently under a different vision. NO, I HAVE seen a lot economic scenarios but never in my lifetime ( I feel pretty secure I am in the upper bracket of age who reads ALTERnet )have I seen our economy a NIGHTMARE OF HELLISH PROPORTIONS thanks to the Republicans ( KEEP REGULATIONS out!!!!!!)ideology. Even FDR faced nothing like this. Good luck Alan at FEAR Faux RADIO & 24/7 NEWS. I wanted to give you the benefit of some doubt...but hey a true liberal I believe would have moved on,ALAN.
