Poll: Public's Loathing of the GOP Hits All Time High

In the latest Gallup poll, Americans' antipathy for the GOP has increased yet again, with only 34% saying they view the GOP favorably and 61% saying they view the GOP unfavorably, "the highest Gallup has recorded for that party since the measure was established in 1992."

Couldn't happen to a nicer party.

Here's the real fun, though:

The Republican Party heads into the New Year with its brand tattered by the election after decisive losses in the 2008 presidential and congressional races. Such a defeat inevitably leads to introspection in party circles about its message going forward.

Gallup addressed this issue in the recent poll with a question asking, "Over the next few years, would you like to see the Republican Party and its candidates move in a more conservative direction, a less conservative direction, or stay about the same?"

Most rank-and-file Republicans (59%) want to see the party move in a more conservative direction and another 28% want it to remain about the same. Only 12% would prefer to see the Republican Party become less conservative.
Awesome. So if the GOP moves left to try to appeal to independents (who now prefer the Dems by 15 points), they lose their base. And if they move right to try to hold onto their base, they lose independents. Either way, they lose any hope of electoral victory. Titter.

There are some decent Republicans still around...I call them Ol' Schoolers..Like Hagel, Lugar, Spector. I may not always agree with them, but they Never lowered themselves to appease the sociopathic Religious Right.
I'm Betting if the Republicans finally detach themselves from these Religious Extermeist Zealots, We Dems may have aproblem next go around. what they would lose in Deluded they would gain in those who jumped ship in the '80's..aka the DLC -Clintons covert operative group...Reason they call themselves 'Reagan Democrats' referrs to the mass exodus because of the 'Moral majority'- Frankly They can have the Clintons, they're a disgrace to Real Dems anyway- Just ask Teddy and the Majority who voted for Obama and anyone who Works in Manufacturing (NAFTA).
If the Ol' Schoolers' are smart they would let Huckabee and Sarah be the Christian Talibans politcal 'powerhouses' and they will move back to their True agenda.'Uncle Pat' stunned me last night when he went after a Heritage Foundation POS regarding saving the Big 3, so to save Jobs. The Heritage Foundation obviously does Not represent All Republicans. In Fact Pat even sunk his teeth in regarding Chapter 11, He knew such a move would undermine the American Worker even More. Honestly there seems to be 3 factions in the Repugs...the psychotic zealots, The Old Schoolers and the SOB's who have been selling US out for Decades just to line their pockets( I call them 'those to be HUNG')
I don't often agree with 'Uncle Pat' but I had to get on line and give Him an 'Atta Boy' e-mail to MSNBC. Granted I'm never sure which Decade Pat thinks he's in at any given time, but he was Alert & Oriented last Night! Maybe Pat is beginning to see the Errors of the 'Reagan Years' which kicked off these Economic underminings and meltdowns. Perhaps Redemption is Possible- Could he be trying to rectify his failures through his 'Bucket List'?
Of course there are a Number of so Called 'Dems' who also meet the criteria of Category Three Too (To be HUNG)- Corporationists disguised in Red or Blue,Let's just call them TRAITORS!

Contractors in Iraq could face charges in earlier incidents

Contractors in Iraq could face charges in earlier incidents

A new U.S.-Iraq security agreement doesn't specifically prevent Iraqi officials from bringing criminal charges retroactively... The news caught company officials by surprise. "We are still trying to make sense of it," said Anne E. Tyrrell, a spokeswoman for Blackwater Inc., whose security guards have been involved in some of the most controversial incidents in Iraq, including the Sept. 16, 2007, shooting at al Nisoor Square in Baghdad.

So now that Bush has sold out his last supporters, no wonder his popularity is in the tank.

Contractors were often involved in controversial incidents... U.S. officials didn't know how the agreement would affect the ability of American civilian officials to move around Iraq. State Department employees currently are protected almost exclusively by private security guards as they travel away from the U.S. Embassy. However, the agreement addresses only security contractors working with U.S. military forces.

We are in "diplomatic engagement with the Iraqis" on the matter, the State Department official said.

The failure of the agreement to clarify issues about security contractors comes as some military officials have questioned whether the agreement doesn't give Iraq more control of U.S. military activities than U.S. officials had contemplated when they began negotiating the agreement last spring.

U.S. officials have told McClatchy that the Bush administration was eager to complete the deal before it leaves office in January and acquiesced to many Iraqi demands, including deleting sections that would have allowed the Americans to delay their departure if security conditions deteriorated. Currently, the agreement requires all U.S. forces to be out of Iraq by the end of 2011.

Bush smells like a dead fish.

I ONLY Hope

I only HOPE that the dismay concerning the REpublican Brand finally sinks in to the Skulls of the Reagan Democrats .
The current Economic crisis has it roots in the Reagan's Vodoo Econmics of Trickle Down and
Unregulated free markets .
We saw this kind of thing before in age of the Robber Barons and it gave us the GREAT Depression . The Republican's have tried to destroy any remnants of the New Deal and have been so succesful at it THAT we are likely to have a NEW Depression . What may save us is there are still pieces of the Safety Net still in place AND we know what works thanks to the New Deal . However WE have a problem that Roosevelt didn't ; we no longer MAKE anything . Then we were the country that was called the ARSENAL of DEMOCRACY , Today we make almost Nothing except and make a living out of shuffling pieces of paper around . We have gone from being a Creditor Nation with a positive Balance of trade to being the WORLDS largest Debtor Nation with a huge Negative Balance of trade .

This past November, the Republicans took control of both houses of our Legislature for the first time in decades. This promises to be fun.

Shame...shame!
