Karl Rove the Hypocrite Doles Out Advice for Obama

I'm trying to pick my favorite part of Karl Rove's latest column in the Wall Street Journal. There are so many gems to choose from.

There are ... plans to use the Obama campaign's email list to lobby for Mr. Obama's policies. The Chicago Tribune, reporting comments from Obama spokesman Steve Hildebrand, summed up the plan this way: the email list could be used "to challenge Democratic lawmakers if they don't hew to the Obama agenda."

Just one problem. It's illegal. There are statutory prohibitions on the White House from using tax dollars to directly lobby Congress by unleashing emails, calls and visits. That's up to outside groups to do.

This is interesting for a couple of reasons, both of which Yglesias tackled nicely. First, Rove is confused about the law. Second, it's ironic to hear Rove encouraging Obama to steer clear of White House legal transgressions, given Rove's role in helping Bush ignore legal restrictions they found inconvenient.

The president-elect says his first priority will be a stimulus package. He may get one, but it will consist of tired ideas offered by congressional Democrats: extending unemployment insurance, giving money to states and cities, and increasing spending on infrastructure.... [I]f Democrats pass it, and particularly if they add an auto bailout, there could be a public backlash.

I see. The problem with the ideas underpinning a stimulus package is that the proposals are "tired." Policy makers could pursue a stimulus package that works, but Rove seems to think it's more important to think outside the box.

There is also a thorny local controversy. Should the new president replace U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who prosecuted Mr. Obama's fund-raising patron, Tony Rezko, and is investigating high-profile Democrats?

First, Karl Rove is offering advice about the politics of replacing U.S. Attorneys, which on its face is comical. Second, as I recall, Rove had his own experiences with Patrick Fitzgerald. Funny, he didn't mention it.

So, which is the most entertaining part of the column? It's hard to choose; they're all amusing in their own way.

then let him rot for a decade of so with 'Water' priviledges and then give him a Staged 'trial' and HANG HIM! Be sure the noose is improperly ties so it Doesn't break his neck immeidately either.
If the Dems are smart (questionable with Pelosi & Reid still at the helms) they will have arrest warrants ready to be executed on 1-20-09 following the last utterance of the Oath of Office by Pres Obama. Both DC airports (and any others in the vacinity) will be closed just prior to and following the ceremony( for security purposes of course).
If by chance any of these TREASONOUS SOB's do get out of the country- Hunt them down like rabid dogs and shoot them on site! I have no doubt we have some assasins on the Payroll- otherwise put a price on their heads and encourage AQ, Hamas..., to help.'The enemy of my Enemy is my enemy'- Let them handle the execution whatever way they Wish!

as someone who lives in Illinois, I hope that Obama keeps his promise to keep Fitzgerald here to complete cleaning up this state. He has been very effective and I can hardly wait until he gets the governor.

Advice to Karl Rove

Karl:
1. Go to Congress and testify under oath.
2. Voluntarily confess to the crimes you committed and participated in.
3. Ask George Bush to pardon you before he leaves office.

After January 20, 2009, you will just be a common criminal and a traitor to your country for your part in revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative. Well, allegedly, anyway. As if there were a shadow of a reasonable doubt left.

4. Don't take the hostile comments others have left here personally. On second thought, perhaps you should. I apologize if they seem to be harsh, but some folks are angry about the way you and George Bush and his administration have damaged this country during the last 8 years.
