Maddow -- who later said she saw herself as "a blogger on TV" -- did the show in her pajamas to show solidarity with bloggers.

Two nights ago, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow showed a clip of Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) complaining about being criticized by "some blogger" sitting "in their parents' basement." Maddow -- who later said she saw herself as "a blogger on TV" -- did the show in her pajamas to show solidarity with bloggers. Watch it:

Conservatives love to blast bloggers. Defending Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Joe Scarborough mocked bloggers "just sitting there, eating Cheetos" in "their underwear," while Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) complained that bloggers add "vituperation toxicity" to the political debate.

Editor's Update: Here's what Jane Hamsher over at FireDogLake had to say about Palin's comments:

Uh, Sarah….You Sure You Want To Go There?

How would Sarah feel if someone called her an ignorant, freeloading bubble headed piece of trailer park trash whose daddy told the AP she spent the weekend scrambling to return her stolen clothes to the RNC?

Just trying to keep a sense of perspective here.

Digg!

Kudos to Maddow for defending the bloggers. But the "parents' basement" slam is not limited to Republicans. When it comes to politics, certainly there is more blog activity on the left, but this isn't about ideology. Whether it's sports, entertainment, politics, or any other industry, the mainstream media publicans and television channels don't want the competition. So they're going to smear them. This has been going on for years.

Sarah Palin, of course, wouldn't know a blog if it hit her in the face. Many did. But she kinda had it coming.

This has all the hallmarks of a burgeoning smear campaign. Bloggers have proved themselves a significant political force - one that conservatives are struggling to come to terms with - so they're on the attack. Expecting an all out war on bloggers from the right - none of it will be a reasoned argument, it's all about discrediting the movement.

We're going to see a barrage of these attacks attempting to demean or belittle these "faceless names". We've seen it all before - "latte loving" and "chardonnay sipping" - terms meant to create an elitest view of the liberal movement. So these attacks aren't directed at us - they're speaking to their base. The great unwashed who don't get technology and are fearful of it. Their goal will be to discredit first and then to highlight the "they're not like you - so why listen to/trust/do anything they say" message over and over and over ...

Make sure Palin's wikipedia article is truthful - or at least labeled as inaccurate and disputed

If you don't want to put in the effort of setting up your own blog but want to make a difference, go the Sarah Palin article on Wikipedia and make sure it mentions Thomas Muthee, the New Apostolic Reformation sect she belongs to, Neiman Marcus spending sprees, the Secret Service warnings about her kill-Obama rants, etc. There's a frantic attempt on the part of a few repubs who either don't have jobs or, more likely, are on Palin's staff, to purge all unsavory info from the article. They'll continue to pull the stuff off, but complaints can be sent to the administrator and the topic can be labeled as inaccurate and disputed.

I used to call this th e'Glorified Typewiter' Then i hit some Website, such as this, and found it to be the BEST tool to use when Participating In a Democratic Society- So Sarah and Scarborough can go fuck themselves!
What I have found MOST iteresting is that the discussion, the debate is far more free of dogma and fear. Are we Restrained by Corp brass saying 'No don't say that even if it is true'..No.
In fact I enjoy the 'Tin hat' sites, I have found them ahead of the curve on many Crimes committed by this Admin, and their Master CheneyCorp.
Regardless of how the Towers Fell on 9/11, it has become very clear this admin did nothing to stop it and took every opportunity to push through their corrupt agenda afterwards.
I've seen when Rachel must stop short before a logical conclusin is spoken (She wanted to call Hagee an National Security threat because of his Sociopathic delusion of setting of 'End of days'- but was stopped short..I think she got out 'national' before someone screamed in her ear to Stop)
Granted the blogs are filled with many intersting ideas and concepts, but frankly I can weed through it better than I can the BS Spewed by the Corp Whore Media.
It shouldn't just be the Complicit Repugs who should worry about the REAL free Speech forum called the Blogs, it should also give MSM pause. In fact MSNBC should take heed, repetition of the same damn top stories, over & over & Over again, usually sends me BACK to the Internet!Ya Bore Me!

Would Palin have even been picked for VP if not for the work of bloggers at sites like Palin4VP? Some of whom were literally blogging from their parents' basements?

Talk about bitin' the hand that feeds ya. You betcha!

I imagine that she'd be pained. The truth hurts, ya know?

You are a media original, and I love the way you show up both politicians and the MSM. Palin should spend a little less time putting on her make-up and a little more paying attention to what's happening in the world.

Palin Copying Spiro Agnew?

It seems Governor Sarah Palin has taken a page out of the life of Vice President Spiro Agnew. Her rhetoric has the same bite to it and has as much relation to factual truth as the attacks Agnew made on behalf of his president and the Republican party.

To see newspeople and political commentators with BRAINS, like Rachel Maddow and Kieth Olbermann returning to the public airwaves?
