Palin Calls for Shining 'a Light' on Alaskan Oil Company that Helped Propel Her Political Career

Yesterday, after Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) was found guilty by a federal jury for failing to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts and services he had received from friends, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin issued a statement calling it "a sad day for Alaska." In the statement, Palin also declared that the "verdict shines a light though on the corrupting influence of the big oil service company" whose CEO provided many of Stevens' unreported gifts:

The verdict shines a light though on the corrupting influence of the big oil service company up there in Alaska that was allowed to control too much of our state. And that control was part of the culture of corruption that I was elected to fight. And that fight must always move forward regardless of party affiliation or seniority or even past service.

Palin's statement neglects to mention that she also has ties to "the big oil service company," Veco. When she ran for lieutenant governor in 2002, "she gathered $5,000 -- or about 10 percent of her campaign fund -- from Veco officials or their wives," including $500 from CEO Bill Allen.

In 2006, when she ran for governor, Palin ran as a critic of Veco and said that she "didn't want Veco money." But her running mate, Sean Parnell, received two $500 checks from Veco officers during the campaign, including one from Allen. Last month, Palin donated to charity "more than $1,000 in campaign contributions from two Alaska politicians implicated" in the federal corruption probe surrounding Veco.

Palin had accepted the donations from the state legislators, John Cowdery and Bruce Weyhrauch, after their offices were searched by the FBI in 2006. Palin made the charitable donations only after the AP had reported that she accepted the money in 2006.

once "That one" wins.
The McCains are gonna go snowmobiling all over her ass for being an opportunistic turncoat.
They have everything on her and the first douche, and won't be afraid to leak it after the election.
Let's start with their remodeled lake house that Todd and his "buddies" worked on during the construction of that 15 million dollar hockey rink.
Building material does have a mysterious habit of "walking" itself from one site to another when no one is watching.
Hope that doesn't become a problem for you "Winky McMannequin"

Sarah Barracuda's TRUE colors on oil "independence".

She was all over the airwaves this morning with her pat, phony "oil independent" speech. And I've only heard bits and pieces, in passing, about the "Windfall Profits Tax" she imposed on the oil companies. With all of her talk of "oil independence", Sarah Barracuda, her husband and five children, are due to receive a total of about $23,000 this year alone. I guess if you're special little Sarah you can get a pass on the fact that you are getting all these thousands of dollars a year from BIG OIL, even as you tell MILLIONS of people across the "dumbed down 48" and Hawaii that you are JUST ITCHING TO GIVE THAT UP. ALL the residents of the "dumbed down 48" and Hawaii had to pay more for OUR gas and oil so that the privileged Miss Mooseburger and her family and the dupes in Alaska who dutifully voted her into the Governor's mansion for those checks, can get special subsidies. I guess Alaska did secede from the union after all. They just didn't make it LEGAL. But what the heck, when did a Republican ever believe in the law anyway? I mean REALLY, check out the Bush record. Even NOW, with just a little over 2 months left in office, he's still working hard on starting more wars of aggression to try and force the next president to do HIS bidding.
The PUBLIC LANDS, whether in Alaska OR the "dumbed down 48" and Hawaii, are supposed to belong to all the country, not just to Alaska. Federal reserves and Federal lands even in Alaska do NOT belong to the Palin CLAN alone. So it looks to me like little Sarah is already running her own little country. Maybe the rest of us should secede Alaska FOR HER.
