Bachmann's Remarks Instigate Netroots Retaliation

The full fury of the progressive netroots has turned on Minnesota Republican congressman Michelle Bachmann.

Congresswoman, a quick note: McCarthyism was a real low point in our history, not something to strive for. Just an FYI.

The full fury of the progressive netroots has turned on Minnesota Republican congressman Michelle Bachmann -- and it might put her House seat in jeopardy. This story begins with Bachmann going on MSNBC's Hardball and raising worries that Barack Obama might hold "anti-American views" and pal around with "people who hate America." [YouTube clip here.] That appearance lead to a spontaneous burst of anti-Bachmann fundraising, of which her Democratic challenger Elwyn Tinklenberg was the happy beneficiary. Tinklenberg has hauled in nearly half a million dollars since Friday, at least a quarter of that through ActBlue. That, of course, is no small potatoes in a House race, especially in the midwest. But with online fundraising, anyone from Minneapolis to Millinocket, Maine and beyond could kick in some change with a couple of clicks, even if they'd never heard of Congresswoman Bachmann before her sitdown with Chris Matthews. The local paper, the Star Tribune, put it this way: "Suddenly, Bachmann Race Looks Different."

Probably still Clueless as to Why the negative Response

Granted we could all chalk her up to Stupid, but I prefer to consider it 'enhanced Indoctrination'.After nearly 30 yrs of this frontal (lobe) assault why should we still be surprised when it Rears it's 'Ugly head',because it is such an self rebuking arguement. 'UnAmerican Activities', Like What exercising Free Speech, insisting on privacy, pushing an agenda which supports those who's back this country relies on, the Working class, beleiving and behaving as though All are Created Equal or a Demand for Freedom & Liberty?
I Challenge her Definition of UnAmerican, thus I question HER allegience to Our Founding Values and Visions.
If I'm A Socialist So What!!
It may be A Socialist we need since Capitalism has Fucked US Up!
Socialism and the FREE MARKET can co exist, but the Greedy and exclusivity of Capitalism at it's very Core Ignores any and All Innate, and Vital, Communal Obligations. And Who would Such Obligations be Serving, Our fellow man and Thus God. So I also Question her guiding Philosophical Beliefs.
Survival of the Fittest was an Evolutionary Explaination, Not a Sociological Structure, thus not a Economic (part of a social structure) stratedgy to assure Suvival of the Species. Communal Animals have basic 'duties' and Designs. They congregate in bad weather, they have sentries for alerting about dangers, They have Protectors. they work as a group for the Good of the Group, thus their offspring- the main goal...Future Generations. Survival of the Fittest is not a Individual quest, it is a group effort.

There is something obviously scary about Bachman (is it an oversimplification to say that she "appears" disturbed?), but I'm more concerned about the lack of response on the part of her constituents and her congressional colleagues.

I mean, didn't she just channel Joe McCarthy and aim that invective at the Congress and the Democratic presidential candidate? Aren't they at least "insulted", if not concerned or frightened, by her blather? Where is the righteous indignation?

If her constituents or Congress let her diatribe ride, shame on them. If we let it ride, shame on us!

Better check out the competition before you give away your money. She's a fruitcake. Tinklenberg, however, appears to be a poor choice too, just a little different flavor. Do a little research and you find that rather than believe that he's a good guy, there's a lot of shit under the surface and not too far at that.

Here's what I found after a quick search starting at his website and going from there:

He's a Blue Dog, alias for conservative Republican. On his website, he's endorsed by the group that gave Bush and US the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act and revised FISA bill. All takeaways from the Constitution that Bush couldn't have passed without these assholes. That group is pro-life, pro-war and "conservative spenders" of our tax dollars. I wouldn't want another one in Congress, would you??

Blue Dog led me to find he's pro-life although it's not at all listed on his campaign site and he uses the line "It is not my mission to eliminate the protection provided in Roe, or criminalize the relationship between a woman and her doctor". That leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Sounds like "oh gee, trust me, girls, I won't do anything bad!!" Uh, DUH! Apparently, even the Christian righty's aren't falling for it.

Then, there's something out there about Tinklenberg and taconite. He's been accused of spreading it on roads and there's accusations that it's caused cancer around his state. He's apparently the marketing guy who sells the stuff. In other words, a lobbyist. He apparently wants to be on the Transportation committee. That sounds ominous.

So people in Minnesota have a great choice to make. Pick a nutbag rightwing crazy or another lobbyist, aka R in Dem clothing with ties to the mining industry. Guess there's a couple of other people in the race too but they haven't made much headway apparently. Oh, and he was Transportion chief under Jesse, the bod, Ventura. Another crazy.

Too bad for them.

that people would vote for someone like her in the first place. But to vote for her AGAIN after she made such outlandish remarks?

This points to the fact that good people aren't willing to RUN FOR CONGRESS anymore. What a shame.

Ventura, now a few years distant and in comparison to the current crop of clowns, assholes, and constitution-challenged dummies, appears almost sane, almost smart, and almost acceptabe. It is amazing the difference a couple of years can make.

Today we are treated to far too numerous loonies like this Bachmann knuckle dragger. And, of course, we are now enduring the spectacle of a candidate running for the second highest office in the land who believes in talking snakes, the rapture (and none too far away, either), speaking in gibberish and calling it a direct line of conversation with God, and all the other assorted psychotic manifestations associated with these backwoods fundamentalist halucinations. Hallelujah, motherfucker! God is great! Oops. Now that sounds a little too familiar.

We have certain Muslims attacking us from the outside because they believe we (America) are the Great Satan and also in the added benefit of all that virginal pussy to be had in paradise. I guess as far as religion goes, the virgin thing isn't such a bad selling point, especially in a society in which one of the most basic human needs is a dicey situation, often only available to the wealthy. And of late we are being attacked from the inside by certain groups who actually believe there is a Satan. American politics have been degraded to the level of a second rate carnival and rapidly sinking lower (if that's possible) still. People who should be locked up for their own protection (and ours) are now using their delusions as qualifications for public office. Remember when the Ayatolla Khomenei took over the government of Iran. Admittedly, that was a few years ago. How outraged was the American government and the American populace! These people were obviously in the grasp of mass psychosis. And probably pussy mad. They had to be to allow their government to be infused with religious fanaticism.

Of course, that was then.

Per 2 separate reports, her opponent with the unpronouncable and very forgetable name has collected around 3/4 million dollars to use to hand her the eviction notice on her capitol office.

This country has sprung to life. The Constitution lives.

Before you jump for joy read about the competitor. Is this another one of the plants in the Democratic party that is actually a Republican? Is mainstream America falling for anyone in the other party that they fail to look at what they're electing? Appears so. We definitely don't need more Blue Dogs because they are nothing less than Republicans in drag.

You must work for his campaign, huh??

WHat about Blue Dogs? Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, FISA. All bad for America.

What about women's issues? How's the guy going to vote on birth control, the morning after pill, when life begins?? There's a lot for women to worry about with legislators that make pretenses that they're pro-women when they're set in a pro-life agenda.

You're incorrect on the cancer too by the way, google it again. This report comes up pretty quick: Mesothelioma in Northeastern Minnesota and Two
Occupational Cohorts: 2007 Update

Front page letter from the Commish says: "Did the miners work in any one particular part of the Range? No – they worked at locations all across northeastern Minnesota."

It also says: "What else does the report tell us? All 58 of the miners were men, which is consistent with exposure to a cancer-causing agent in the workplace, rather than some general hazard in the broader environment."

In any event, it would make a thinking woman think again and look at the other candidates. I'm sick and tired of taking bad Democrats myself.
