. . . and I loathe the McCain/Palin ticket.

That being said, McCain brought the funny last night.

Don't try and spin this in a partisan manner, because anyone who objectively watched the roast should have seen the same thing.

Barack was good, and some notable punchlines written for him, but John had the single greatest public appearance he's made since he was chosen as the Republican nominee.

Tell me I'm not alone, people.

Sorry. But, I disagree with the other comments. I feel like Obama's jokes were much more humorous. It was McCain's best performance of the election season, no doubt. But, the jokes just weren't as funny as Obama's.

I will give him credit, though, for being one of the few Republicans I've ever seen tell jokes that did not include racial epithets.

I think that this is just like the debates (including the VP debate) in that people will give McCain too much credit for this based on extremely low expectations.

Last night's dinner theater was difficult to watch . I kept thinking of the crap being thrown at Barack Obama (racism, death threats) and he is supposed to act as if nothing bad is going on. All the while McCain slips by with his disgusting campaign because he's sooooooo funny. So strange how we have become such an idiocracy.

After following the campaign and the debates, it is easy for McCain to earn the compliment, "best appearance so far." He and Palin make a fine comedy duo. Both earn high marks in sarcasm.

was how each candidate reacted to the other's jokes. Obama laughed heartily and openly, applauding McCain when he was funny. McCain, on the other hand, seemed stilted and grudging in his appreciation of Obama's humour. McCain still came across as the grumpy man, in my opinion.

It is McCain's nature to come across as a grumpy old man, jokes or not. This appearance was the only time I've ever witnessed McCain being humorous. His stump jokes, and debate jokes always fall flat as a pancake. Thankfuly, we only have to endure his vile humor and vitriol for two more weeks.

Obama for President

I read the Naomi Wolf article before this one -- about the coming police state -- really depressing! And I know there are many who think that Obama is "one of them," surrounding himself with CFR members and making veiled references to the New World Order. Well, I hope that's not the case. But if it is, at least he'll be an eloquent, personable dictator with a sense of humor! When Bush sneeringly talked about Compassionate Conservatism, it was obvious that he had no idea what the word compassionate meant & had no intention of finding out. Obama strikes me as profoundly compassionate. I want to believe that he'll be a great president, uniting this country and finally changing course after 8 dismal years.
