White House Used 'Taxpayer-Funded Trips to Help Elect Republican Candidates'

A draft House Oversight Committee report finds that the White House “used the political affairs office to orchestrate an aggressive strategy to use taxpayer-funded trips to help elect Republican candidates for public office.” Under the direction of Sara Taylor, the political affairs office identified struggling GOP candidates and arranged for cabinet members to make appearances on their behalf:

From January 1, 2006, until the mid-term elections on November 7, 2006, cabinet secretaries and other senior officials traveled to over 300 events recommended by the political affairs office. All of these events were held with Republican candidates, and in most cases, the travel costs were paid for with federal funds. … In some instances, the White House specifically requested that travel be billed to the taxpayers to save Republican campaigns money.

During the course of their investigation, the Oversight Committee found Taylor to be “evasive” and “misleading.”

...how again?

how is it that once in office the politicals have the purse and can buy their ticket again and again and again!... so I haveta ask...
How can you still consider yourself a democratic nation let alone the leader of the free world?...
your free to do what again?

These political clowns, pass unlimited pork to buy off the few local voters they need to get re-elected while at the same time are indebting our children, leaving a huge mess of a democracy not left to them and in which they will need to spend an entire lifetime to correct!

and this is right how?
The constitution isn't even recognizable now!
and this mess can be traced to the crooked and illegal political practices of Nixon and the men who were behind Watergate and the dirty tricks campaign... with the same old politics bleeding us for the past 40 years...
when are ya'll gunna get it!

Our democracy was usurped by greedy men that will stop at nothing to fill their pockets at the expense of the next generation... and this generation is now upon us... and the economics of this greed is coming home to roost!

We all knew this was going on across the board. It's hard for a 3rd party candidate to get elected or even on the ballot because once the 2-system party is in there.. they keep funding each other with OUR money.

This new finding however.. is a whole 'nother level of greed. These politicians should have their homes firebombed and the bankers should be stripped of their assets and sent to jail.

I'm sick of these fat cats trying to blame average citizens for going into foreclosure when their buddies are bumping up interest rates from 11% to 33% (loan sharking) .. the whole system is set up to get you in debt. People who pay their bills on time are not generating money for the banks.
