Broken Glass

This is no doubt one of the ugliest periods in American political history.

To any sane person, the recent tactics of the McCain-Palin campaign have been nothing short of disgusting, appalling and overtly desperate. As the country (and world) plunges deeper into a economic hellhole, both John McCain and Sarah Palin have chosen to ignore the financial news and instead attack Obama via character assassination. It is truly a sad sight to behold.

Palin the Rebel Rouser

Sarah Palin's words this week have been startling. She is not even using veiled terminology. She is out and out accusing Obama of hanging with terrorists, paling around with terrorists, and why not say it - being a terrorist. She does NOT back a single thing up - she uses shoddy stories, innuendo, proven false rumors and anything she wants to (including a lot of winking) in order to press her case. She has NOT once talked about any issue that is relevant to Americans today. She talks about hate, terrorism and of course, Obama being different. Palin is painting Obama as the ultimate outsider, a man that simply cannot be trusted and someone that might actually invite al-Qaeda to dinner.

One wishes they could laugh at all these nonsense coming from a complete and total moron. But what Sarah lacks in intelligence (and trust me, a roach has more intelligence), she makes up with political and winking skills. She knows how to rouse an audience (just ask Rich Lowry about his boners). And all this is done with tacit John McCain support.

I could list or link to all the hateful things that both McCain and Palin have done this week as they see their claim to victory slip away. Foul language, using Obama's middle name Hussein as a curse, direct threats, and vitriolic speech not seen in generations are just the tip of the iceberg. It is truly pathetic. From all the theatrics of this week, John McCain, once the proud veteran is fast becoming a caricature of himself. This once honorable man is just now an old, nasty, vengeful loser - who, due to his recent behavior, has lost any respect I might have had. I could say more, but i will restrain myself.

The people that are attending the Palin rallies and being whooped into a frenzy are Sarah's Joe Six Pack crowd. From her recent performances, Sarah has completely lost the intellectual side of the Republican base - Noonan, Brooks, Milliken, and now even LaHood. Palin is quickly losing the "non-partisan" (a term I use loosely) sector of the MSM as well - Klein, Dowd, Gergen etc. But Sarah could care less, she has her base -- the Republican moron base -- Joe Six Pack and Jane Neanderthal. In other words, members of groups like Aryan Nation.

I will go out on my own private limb and maybe hang myself while doing this. I have been calling these Palin "rallies" no different than Klan rallies without hoods. I am wrong, very wrong. I am now very, very concerned of what could happen if when Obama wins on November 4th. These Palin loyalists are being baited and teased, and their testosterone level is being raised to unprecedented levels during an erlection season. Through a series of winks and nods, these Palin rally-attenders have now been given permission to be vengeful - in full view of the television cameras. We all know that these "rally attenders" are full of hate for Democrats, for liberals, but most assuredly for blacks. They do NOT want to wake up to a President Obama on November 3rd - and if they do, they will not go gently into that good night.

History as perspective

Five short days after the Presidential election - on November 9th - is the 70th anniversary of the what many consider the start of the Holocaust - Kristallnacht - The Night of Broken Glass - November 9, 1938. A brief history of Kristallnacht - Herschel Grynspyn, a 17-year old German Jew enraged by his family's expulsion from Germany, walked into the German Embassy in Paris and fired five shots at a minor German diplomat Ernst vom Rath. Two days later, the ambassador died and within hours, Germany found itself in the grip of skillfully orchestrated severe anti-Jewish violence. Businesses were destroyed, Jews were beaten and arrested, the angry mobs could not be controlled (frankly the German police did nothing to quell the violence). Germany was never the same - Hitler had his excuse to begin his systematic murder of the Jews.

I am not saying that is the narrative we are heading towards. I am saying that many hate groups have a thing for anniversaries. The Columbine shootings where on (or near) Hitler's Birthday (April 20), as was the 1995 Murrah building bombing in Oklahoma. With the economy spiraling out of control, and the likely possibility of the first African-American president being elected - the level of tension being raised by McCain and especially Sarah Mooseshit, combined with an anniversary attached to violence - might just be enough spark to get a fire going. A fire that could get out of control (just ask Rodney King). I am just saying, I am not crossing any fingers.

This is ugly. Very ugly. Both Palin nor McCain are not likely to put an end to their hate spewing and fear mongering any time soon. That is what happens when desperation takes over from rationality (tho Palin strikes me as a person who is NEVER rationale). They are uncorking a genie they may not be able to get back in the bottle. This is no doubt one of the ugliest periods in American political history - and it may turn into one of the ugliest periods in American History if this is type of campaigning is not stopped and quelled immediately.

McCain is backed into a corner -- and like an animal who cannot escape -- he does not know what to do. I do not feel good about the next few weeks. I can only hope that saner minds will prevail.

UPDATE - McCain was forced today to correct/change the tone of questioners from the audience. They actually expressed a fear of Obama being a terrorist. Whoa - take a look at John McGuilt! Somebody might have a conscience buried under all the rhetoric. I think when you see McCain's face, you can actually see that he cannot believe what demons he has let out of Pandora's Box. He has let his campaign run wild. Only now he has no control.

Digg!

Is there Hatred from the 'Left' You better believe it...but We prefer to Slow Roast these 'Chickens' before placing them on the nations Silver Platters.Mac and His Puppetmasters will Be Served Up if they fail to control their Zealots and something happens to Sen Obama!
Perhaps this vile disgusting 'face' of America should be allowed to 'rear it's ugly head' just long enough to RIP IT OFF, once & foreall.
These sociopaths are not Just Traitors to this 'Land of the Free' Where 'All men are crated equal', They are Heretics- Bearing False Witness and Encouraging Murder (no trial, no ability to defend yourself against FALSE ACCUSATION....they want Obama Assasinated- THAT IS MURDER!
Mac & Palin lead them into this UnAmerican, heretical Mudd Pit and they had better start leading them back Out!
Ooooh I want Mac's feet dangling next to Cheney's...But I want to watch him lose every once of respect and Honor via a Legal Court proceeding. I want every subversive thing Mac and his cohorts have done over the last 40 yrs, dragged out into the light. I want every scrape of Evidence Sited and Documented for Posterity. I want his 'Legacy' to be found ABOVE Benedict Arnolds as OUr Nations Most notorious Traitors- for HIS Part in this Current - easily foreseen & avoidable - economic Meltdown, Then for his part in LYING to US regarding Iraq, and His affiliations and appeasemnt of Big OIl and their Foreign sponsors of Terror and Oppression!
But My Candidate has Not voiced such HighCrime Allegations, Thus I will Not whenever I am the 'Face' of His Campaign. Oooh I will Look Your Right in the eyes and tell You at the Bar, the family gathering...but I will not express my Utter Outrage and desires for Revenge while at a Obama Rally Nor while canvassing. He has never Spoken such things, thus I will not make Him answer nor be held responsilbe for MY Thoughts and (Justified)Outrage at the Criminals who call themselves 'Republicans'
I don't want to hear McCain called a 'Traitor' Or 'Terrorist' at an Obama Rally...I want to hear it in the Sentencing Of John McCain in a court Room!

Is this the America you got tortured over? Or did you develope a mistrust in your country over the years. Fact is, John McCain is not nor has he ever been presidential material. For openers, he's just not smart enough. He has never made any attempt to find out how the vast majority of us live, who haven't had the protection of the U.S. Military for 3 generations. Like George Bush he has led a very sheltered life. To this day he hides behind the skirts of his wife and Sarah Palin. I don't envy 5 years as a POW, but McCains' life has never included any real risks, except those he created himself. His reckless lifetyle was his own choice. Has her ever been on a job interview? He followed the path charted for him by others. He has never been a leader of any kind. Anna

These genies have jumped right into it. They all act like irresponsible druggies fixated on money, glory and power over the whole world.

NOT necessarily in that order, though.

Palin is obviously interested in being Chief in charge of harassing other people (women and children) in regard to how to properly breed a larger nation of rude and angry roughnecks.

Her position about what is an acceptable church is also suspect and what she said about the power of the VP office is a clue we shouldn't disregard. I think she hopes to be able to enforce her own kind of "(s)mothering" on the entire nation.

Seems she would even use raped women as a source to bear unwanted children for society to further abuse.

Just where IS the law in all this mess?

Anybody who prints a lie about a fellow citizen is subject to charges of Libel. When these candidates know their speeches are being broadcast, they know that the same charges apply to them.

It isn't only the subject of such lying that is injured in the case of an election for president of the nation. We are all injured by slander and lies, so we should all be able to get together and petition the courts.

I am fed up with the lies and I bet most people are. How about a gigantic lawsuit against the campaign managers in these cases? We should call it what it is: defrauding the electorate!

godwins' law is obsolete.. and the authours' references to nazi germany and krystallnacht are by no means an exaggeration either...to wit..sarah palin seems to have rediscovered hitlers' method of infusing sex into her oratory..even if she does it in a slightly different way...

its bad enough that we must fear what palins' white arayan toadys' might do if obama wins...but we will have much more to fear from them if obama loses...

Loving Our Enemies

John McCain and Sarah Palin , with their lies and exaggerations, have given their rabid supporters the gift of an enemy they love to hate. While reading this article and other accounts of the McCain/Palin tactics, I am reminded of something I read back in the Nixon era when otherwise functioning Americans were looking under their beds for the dreadful communists.

This was an article written by a psychiatrist who did an analysis of Russia's communists' and America's political conservatives' fears and loathing of each other. I remember that the analyst claimed that both idiological groups were suffering from "political paranoia."

Some Americans, he said, seem to need an enemy to hate. If an unlovable enemy was not convenient, one could be manufactured. In the case of Russia, the US always had a ready-made enemy at hand for the US and Russia were alway happy to respond to each others' fears with more of the same.

If, as this man claimed, American conservative politics depends on always having an enemy to fear, John McCain and Sarah Palin may have tapped into that well of paranoia by whipping up both the fear of terrorists and an irrational and exaggerated fear of the consequences of losing the White House to the other party. Their perferred tactic is rabble-rousing and appealing to the lowest and crudest of human emotions. They seem oblivious to the fact that it has been less overt but the same lethal and dishonest tactics that put the present administration in office. The truth is now that some of George Bush's former supporters are distancing themselves from this loser. What does McCain have to offer than is any different from Bush's bungled reign?

The popular media has let us all down. If all but a few are unable or unwilling to do investigative journalism themselves, they could at least consult Fact Check after one of Palin's ridiculous outbursts. While McCain himself seems incapale of furthering his own cause, the unsubtle Sarah Palin turned loose on an uninformed and ignorant public is having a ball stirring up hatred and fear that may prove to have tragic consequences.

And I think many Americans are beginning to see that. Even my Republican friends and family are chagrined. However this Palin fool seems to have no conscience whatsoever. Her rallies that stir up hate, fear and rage should be monitored closely. I want to see Obama/Biden win the biggest landslide victory for the Presidency ever! We cannot take anything for granted. The watchword is GET OUT THE VOTE!

Yes, this is an ugly time in American politics. I see hatred from the supporters of McClain but I see hatred as extreme from the left as well. This blog is a good example of it. I am not sure that anything at the McClain-Palin rallies is as bad as the previous contributors to this blog. I fear for our country.
